I was thinking, if Blinken realized the catastrophe he was letting happen, and suddenly his conscience came to him and he wanted to reverse that, he would be persecuted by his bosses, right? What I'm getting at is that many of these characters are trapped in an elite social environment where they have to believe that what they do is right despite it being a massacre. We have to think as a society how to anticipate these types of things, avoid those social environments. I'm not justifying it, I just see a pattern where no one in that elite environment realizes the carnage in wars, or they don't want to notice, in short, brainwashing.
