Slovakia's prime minister undergoing surgery after being shot
Slovakia's prime minister is in a life-threatening condition after being shot multiple times in a suspected assassination attempt.
Robert Fico has been taken to hospital in what has been described as a crucial few hours for the Slovak leader.
The shooting happened outside the House of Culture in the town of Handlova, where Mr Fico had been meeting supporters.
A suspect, reported to be in his 70s, was detained at the scene.
