Thank you for your time an insight, , IT'S Funny to me that no one asks trappers about the animals they observe day in an day out , They Are the ones with the most current up to date info an knowledge on most wildlife in the lower 48 .. An they would fo it for free !!!

Could be, but habitat in maine is nothing like it was when wolverines were here. And we had herds of woodland caribou back then.

In 1999-2001 I ran into a gentleman carrying boxes in the woods. We struck up a conversation and he explained that they were doing a study to see what type of animals were in the area. They were using chalk boxes on diamond mountain in Northern CA between Westwood and Susanville and they recorded at least one wolverine going into the boxes.

I’m surprised that coyote trapping can take place according to these regulations in states that have wolves. With the example of grizzlies and lynx it makes me think of wolf/coyote trapping. I live in the UP and catch a lot of wolves trapping coyotes. Caught more wolves this year than coyotes in fact. But there is a chance to do damage to wolves while trapping coyotes so im surprised they don’t stop the coyote trapping then too.

Well thought out presentation sir. As a recreational trapper I've always thought that the trap sizes being used in wolf trapping was somewhat ridiculous. A Bridger # three is plenty of trap for any wolf, and if a trap is being used that's powerful enough to injure a Grizzly Bear, then, well, maybe someone has to step in to say enough is enough. It would be much better for us trappers to self regulate but in these days and times bigger is always better. Problem is maybe common sense ain"t keeping up with trap sizes. Kind of like the fool that sets his 330 next to the local parks hiking trail. That guy is doing more to damage your right to trap then all the anti's in the world. Anyway, just a thought.

I genuinely don’t see how a wolf trap could hurt a grizzly the same wolf traps are used for beaver I want to say trapper j got his hand in a beaver trap and he was fine

I think we need to add anti trappers to the list of varmints to hunt an trap. There numbers are not in danger.

We have wolverines in Montana. Canada has them. Alaska has them. Russia and Norway. But they are endangered of course. Alligators are endangered in Montana. I guess numbers don't count, just arbitrary borders drawn on paper.
