Breaking Benjamin's guitar tone (Ben and Aaron) has always been underrated
@rbailey101010 жыл бұрын
The problem with this video is the fact that the song is written with two guitar parts. It was probably hard for aaron to explain all his parts without having the other part being played. Most all guitar world tutorials that have lessons with a two guitar band typically have both guitarists there present IE killswitch engage, trivium, etc

EJ Taylor Yea. I like Ben's style of Music. That's why DBD is my favorite out of Ember and DBD. Ember is great, but it's too mainstream, tbh... Ember was collaborative as hell... So it's everyone's mix, basically. But DBD was practically finished before the other joined. It had that Phobia vibe, but you can also tell it was a new album. It's not the same Breaking Benjamin, at all. Anymore.

I always wondered, why do they call it drop "A#"? I would have a headache if I ever had to think of "A#" being my root...
@grenade.turtle
8 жыл бұрын
b flat is the same thing. I guess a lot of people are tuning to drop b then a half step down cuz its easier to sing? idk why
@martinfanatic532
8 жыл бұрын
What I'm saying is why A# over Bb? Is there a reason based on music theory that I don't know? I can't seem to find an explanation for why you'd use A# vs. Bb, whether you're actually thinking of each note/chord based on C standard tuning with the lowest string dropped a whole step or if you're still using E standard with the lowest string dropped a whole step as your orientation (as Aaron seems to be doing in the chorus). For example, in the chorus, Aaron refers to the chords shapes as E-D-C, when in reality they are C-Bb-Ab (the song is also in C minor). With regards to this particular song, Bb would be part of the scale, not A#. Unless you're telling me they wrote this song in B# minor, which does contain an A#...
@grenade.turtle
8 жыл бұрын
even though the guitar is tuned down he's just referring to the strings if they were standard to try and eliminate confusion. and for the A# thing, its because in a scale you only want a letter to occur once. for example in an F major scale there's an A so you really wouldn't wanna say A sharp. which is when you would use Bb. I got this off of Google. I think I said it right
@grenade.turtle
8 жыл бұрын
becuase the next note would be C. so you would have A, B and C
@martinfanatic532
8 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right. But my point was it doesn't matter which orientation you pick, A# shouldn't have a place in either.

Ok!!! that tuning is like he said two full steps down! your standard tuning would be (1.E) (2.B) (3.G) (4.D) (5.A) (6.E) right? After that drop the 6th string to D and from that drop the tuning in all the strings two full steps down! it would be (1.C) (2.G#) (3.D#) (4.A#) (5.F) (6.A#)

+kiwi8a Let me put this simply: Have you ever had that one terrible science teacher who teaches so pathetically that no one understands? 2 minutes and a forty page chapter done? You can't seem to understand anything unless you yourself go through the notes and textbooks to figure things out and only then does your brain work magic and help you understand. Well, in such cases, you still hate the teacher because they didn't teach properly but are thankful to your own brain. Not everyone can figure out the small bits and pieces together and need the teacher to explain again. Correct? That's exactly the case here. Now it ain't "bull shit." It's just a different perspective. So please, no hostility needed.

It's 2017 and you still leave an impact on us novices!!! Thank you so much, sir, you're still an inspiration, please, rock on!! \m/,

good lesson, Aaron Fink is one of those few legitimate musicians left, he will gladly sit and have a chat to fans about music, I love his White Washburn Idol wish he'd used that in this lesson
As I watch this video, I realize I can do do this. I am just an old school player, mostly Bass guitar,but lead guitar as well. What a great teacher this is. I hope our future guitar stars watch this, they can learn a lot from this guy.
That tone though!

Doom stoner metal sound. Black Sabbath
Love this guitar tone so much. Very gritty, gain heavy but it's still got clarity for the chords. I'm sure the EMGs play a big part in this tone. I'll never stop loving EMG actives.
I love Aaron. He's one of my influences. And he's so down to earth.
Love the sounds that he is making with the guitar.
It was kind of a hard tutorial, but I finally got the whole song down. Stoked!
Breaking Benjamin is definitely unique because of their low tuning and great vocals, backed by a strong drummer. Good stuff
Aaron, idk if you look at these comments, but just in case you do i just want to thank you for giving this lesson. you and the others in BB are amazing!
They will never top dear agony. That album is perfect.
"That's the Jizzt of it...." always makes my goddammed day x)
Aaron, you were an awesome guitarist. I'm definitely following whatever you do next.
I cant describe how much I love that guitar sound. arghh I want it!
I love how deep the guitar sounds!
1st pre chorus is always my favorite part
Aaron Fink is seriously one of my favorite guitarists

His tones amazing
I need to get the tone it's amazing
Estas si son canciones no como las de ahorita es increíble como este video lo hace tiempo y lo sigo viendo como l primera vez es k breaking benjamin y mas esta canción will not bow es la leche Saludos desde México df
This is absolutely priceless!!! So fkn great.
Breaking Benjamin's guitar tone (Ben and Aaron) has always been underrated
The problem with this video is the fact that the song is written with two guitar parts. It was probably hard for aaron to explain all his parts without having the other part being played. Most all guitar world tutorials that have lessons with a two guitar band typically have both guitarists there present IE killswitch engage, trivium, etc
R.I.P the old breaking Benjamin members. No one will ever remember them

Anymore.

Ben Burnley: Ernie Ball Custom Set 12 - 56 for C# Ernie Ball Custom Set 12 - 60 for C Ernie Ball Custom Set 13 - 68 for A# Aaron Fink: Ernie Ball Custom Set 11 - 52 for C# Ernie Ball Custom Set 12 - 56 for C Ernie Ball Custom Set 13 - 68 for A# Hope this helps (this would be the lowest string's size, highest string 68 would be like a double contra guitar lol)
5:33 es la mejor parte
His guitar sounds amazing!
Thanks Aaron. That helps alot!
I literally can't find the second half of this tutorial anywhere. was there ever one?
Optimus Prime
That was awesome!!! I will learn this song!
this is a great vid i saw the rest on guitar world's site....the solo was tooooo awesome!
I think BB lacks a certain something since Aaron and the other guys are not in the band anymore. The new dudes bring a weird vibe and it is clear that Ben is maybe the essence of BB but it is not the same anymore after Dear Agony. The quality decreased a lot.

I always wondered, why do they call it drop "A#"? I would have a headache if I ever had to think of "A#" being my root...
@grenade.turtle

b flat is the same thing. I guess a lot of people are tuning to drop b then a half step down cuz its easier to sing? idk why
@martinfanatic532
@grenade.turtle

even though the guitar is tuned down he's just referring to the strings if they were standard to try and eliminate confusion. and for the A# thing, its because in a scale you only want a letter to occur once. for example in an F major scale there's an A so you really wouldn't wanna say A sharp. which is when you would use Bb. I got this off of Google. I think I said it right
@grenade.turtle

becuase the next note would be C. so you would have A, B and C
@martinfanatic532

You're absolutely right. But my point was it doesn't matter which orientation you pick, A# shouldn't have a place in either.
i love the sound of the guitar on the start lick and hammer on tap thingy! so awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hard to believe he even plays by his explanation, but when he plays! Amazin'

damn, I learnt this song when I was senior high school. now I'm 27, can you imagine how badass was this song in that era ??
i'm the biggest breaking benjamin fan ever!! my favoriye band ever!! they are rock gods!!
sustain for days
Can someone explain the tuning part to me? He's an awesome guitarist.. But not an awesome teacher xD Please!
@takashiwhite9941
9 жыл бұрын
Ok!!! that tuning is like he said two full steps down! your standard tuning would be (1.E) (2.B) (3.G) (4.D) (5.A) (6.E) right? After that drop the 6th string to D and from that drop the tuning in all the strings two full steps down! it would be (1.C) (2.G#) (3.D#) (4.A#) (5.F) (6.A#)

thanks aaron your the best musician>. your sharing your chords!!i hope your band become an international!!1
You'd think he's not that musically talented but then you realize he's a natural musician who plays by ear and can make ridiculous solos (check the Shallow Bay soundcheck solo) and you think twice
His guitar is so slow, and heavy.... kinda like his voice, hahahaa
Love bb and Aaron and his playing and everything about all this that tone is insane as well wow super fat love it
His hands is totaly relaxed wen he plays, coooll!
drugs..... not even once
Teaching is not his specialty. 🤦🏼♂️
now that is one epic sounding guitar!

Dude that taping this sooo soo esay to play and so inpressive!!!!
this guy is original: doesnt sound like anybody else. and he may not be a big shredder, but his riffage is amazing i must say
