In relation to the actual show. This is one of the scenes that encapsulate Walter's ego tremendously. Jesse suggested to Walt to just make enough Meth to sell till it's enough to provide for the family. But of course, him cooking meth and being part of the meth business is what keeping Walt internally alive and power hungry.

Nah, not at this point in the show. Later yes, but at this point Walt thinks he has a couple of weeks left and with 1300 dollars per day (which is what Jesse sold that night) he is not even close to leaving his family what he calculated he needs to (700k+). It's the same reason a bit later he lied to Jesse about the methylamine going bad and needing to cook ASAP when he saw his X-ray in the hospital and thought he was almost dead.

I actually remembered black mesa is in new mexico.....So theoretically around the time the black mesa incident happened, Jimmy would still be in the mailroom working at HHM. Gus would be at pollos hermanos moving product across border. Don't know much about Walt though cuz I'm not sure at which year did he take up the job as a chemistry teacher.
