I love prick. It was so wildly different than all the other stuff... I'm so hyped to hear from you, mark. Thank you so much. I've seen Melvins 60+ times... my 1st time was in 90? With cows in San Mateo? But, yeah.

I've always thought that Chief Ten Beers was a parody of Chief Ten Bears, featured in Dances With Wolves. And this should be obvious, but thanks for making the Deutrom era of (the) Melvins possible. Peak period of the peak band.

I am glad to see all of these videos, Mark. I know it’s been years and years ago but you have a very long history with a lot of cool things, including your time with the Melvins. It’s nice to see you embracing that and telling your various stories. Looking forward to the inevitable video on the Honkey album and what was going on around that time period.

many thanks for detailing so much about an album i thought would just remain mysterious! side 2 is mostly right, vinyl seems to have mixed a couple things up: "punch the lion" = church bell song "chalk people" = doesn't seem to be on the vinyl? buzzbox, drums, what sounds like buzzo bellowing gibberish "larry" = normal instrumental "roll another one" = the 'rrrrrollllll' intro/guitar solo/roadbull demo/two jams/german yelling song/crowd noise the ending of the german (btw awesome to know who that is now!) song is indeed weirdly ominous, that whole track sort of is, as is a fair bit of the album itself. then again i first listened to this alone in a hotel room at 4am which seemed like a strangely appropriate listening environment thanks again for the info i've been itching to know for years!

I love Prick now, but it took years for me to appreciate. And I was even an avant bruh. Was at a Babes in Toyland show around the time the record came out, and the opening band, who were on AmRep, said he’d heard a rumor that you had turned the Prick album in as your major label follow up to Houdini and of course they rejected it and so Stoner Witch was submitted. I know now this wasn’t true, but always thought it to be a funny rumor

THROWAWAY??? Rickets is one of the best songs. I’m weird though. Nice to know it’s inspired by “Musique concrète”. I still have more video to go… but had to throw up my objection on Rickets.

Also, want to clarify, I don’t mean “best song on Prick”. I mean Rickets is one of my more favorite Melvins tracks. It’s got a sleazy vibe to it. I like it. And, I’ve always enjoyed Prick. Ever since it came out, but I’ve always enjoyed experimental music. Sure, I may not always be in the mood for it, but I liked it when it came out and still do. Just want to add that your era of playing/writing with them is my favorite and it’s because of your avant garde background. It’s wildly experimental compared to the rest of their output. I love it. Looking forward to you talking about Honky. :)

Sorry if i wrote something that could be mistaken. I am actually very serious when i do say that at least to me your insight really is of high value. Of course the Music itself too. But it gives more context to melvins pieces especially if you're used to buzz's lyrical mumbo-jumbo sometimes. When you tell all these storys to these songs... To me its like reading secret scripts from Tarantino. The Songs being the Movies. And we all know how important story and dialogues are in Tarantino Movies. It's deep interpersonal conversations. Some Songs can be interpreted deep. But you give a more clear view of the actual depth with all the backstage/Background storys, i think.
