Omg i had horrible post partum shedding i was legit going bald on my edges and my hair would always come out in clumps. I thought it was odd because i was still taking my prenatals and i was taking collagen and biotin. It stopped and started growing back but it was embarrassing for me for a few months.

Have hope ladies. I lost a lot of hair on both temples despite taking my post-natals vitamins for a year. I did breastfeed for a year though. The hair loss was so bad I couldn't put my hair up in a bun due to the 2 massive bald spots. I thought I would have to wear wigs forever. But with time & patience, the bald spots have filled in, still a bit thin on 1 side but a huge recovery from before. Don't stress, be gentle with your hair & be kind to yourselves. Remember you are doing a great job being a mom.

Postpartum shedding had bald spots on my scalp 😩 I never experienced that until my second child and it didn’t come until maybe a little less than a year after giving birth. It was so bad I thought I had alopecia

I accidentally cut my hair whiles unbraiding and it was a big chunk. My hairdresser said such discouraging words about my hair and it started to affect me mentally. Your customers are truly blessed to have their hair touched by you.

I'm sorry you had that experience with an insensitive hairdresser. One of my cousins had an experience where the hairdresser got on her for waiting too long to get a relaxer. She wanted my cousin to get one every 4 weeks and my cousin went off on her LOL. All my cousin wanted was a wash and blow dry, that was all.

@@noble604 wrap my hair every night, i use leave in products and have changed all my products to Shea Moisture products. I only use shampoo once a week because the wrapping pulls the oils from the scalp. I also use black caster oil and “curly hair” products. I do wet it every 2 days tho because i do have very caucasian hair, and am able to do so, but it seems that damaged blonde hair needs nearly as much care as fine curly african hair

Oh there's a lot of us out here lol. It basically means that your hair is protein sensitive and prefers moisture over protein. My hair used to love coconut oil but now it makes it feel like crispy seaweed lol. I cannot use products that contain coconut oil but most natural hair products use it as a base because it's cheap and widely available. If you're looking for a good oil try The Mane Choice Ancient Egyptian Anti-Breakage & Repair Antidote Oil. It's a great blend of oils, not too heavy and lasts a long time so its a good investment.

Protective hairstyles are only protective when you take time to learn what protective hairstyle works for your hair, not too tight as not to stress your scalp/edges, take the time to prep your hair before said style and after, and for as long as you have the style in, you should leave your own hair out to breath. I love your channel cause you always educate us on how to properly take care of our hair. Protective hairstyles aren't the devil, it's often the execution.

always, and even then I find that it's usually not the stylist (though there are tons of bad ones), it's that they don't wash or moisturize it when they have them in for months!, but over quarantine I learned how to crochet and no braiding pain so sorry to my braider but i'm never going back

@@themango9644 do NOT use a comb...on curl your hair with the sew in so that it will hold it's shape and you wont have to keep putting heat on it or brush it...I only detangle my hair with a brush every 3 to 4 days other than that try not to brush it constantly...when you do brush it, separate your leave out, brush the weave then out a DROP of serum in your hands, rub it on your leave out and then gently detangle with your fingers first and then a brush.

Besides the broken part, her hair looks healthy 💞

I grew up in a family of barbers and beauticians. I loved watching the process unfold, and I certainly agree with the comments regarding “blessed hands”...you’ve got the gift girl!

Kee Taylor is just one of the coolest people ever. I really admire how hard she's worked to get her business to where it is today. She makes me feel inspired, like -- if she can do it, then I can do it.

I wish all hairdressers were as gentle as you. My hair is stupidly fragile, I don’t dare let a hair dresser touch it based on past experiences. Brush or comb full of hair, and I don’t have much to start with.

It took me years but I actually found a hairdresser that I can finally trust to cut my hair. Expensive and worth every penny. My hair has doubled in length and I honestly have growth more hair and thicker since I have started seeing her. I was so sick my hair was falling out and thinning.

@@akashanumberfive199 yeah, mine was always a problem, then I had chemo! Did not help. Best thing for me other than avoiding hair dressers is switching to natural products and using only hair pins not elastics. Of course if hairdressers were this gentle and respectfu here I might try again 🙂

I'm a white girl with curly hair (3b-3c). I find those videos so soothing, and the positivity that radiates from it is so nice and peaceful. I have struggled with my hair most of my life, my mom used to cut it extra-short when I was young because she found it unmanageable (she herself has straight hair). When I let it grow out, I didn't know how to take care of it, and I just left it tangled and frizzy. I was resigned that it was just what my hair looked like. I finally chopped it all off, just to not have to bother about it. Then I found out about the "curly girl method", and I finally see actual curls in my hair. I find it pretty. And I know how much the black community has to do with that method, and I just wanted to send a collective thank you, for giving me a confidence I never had.

Swimming in chlorine with a protective style. Wear a swimming cap or rinse your hair out after getting it wet. Chlorine will break your hair so fast 💨

Swim tips. Before you get in the pool 1. Wet hair with tap water. 2. cover hair in conditioner. 3. wear a swim cap and/or keep your head above water. This way your hair soaks up less of that cholrine/salt water/fresh water. After you get out of the pool, rinse hair and use co-wash/ gentle daily swimmers shampoo. Do not skip the conditioner. Deep condition weekly with heat. Every 4-6 weak chelate with a special chelating shampoo. Use a medium strength protein deep conditioner every other week. This works for my natural hair....I'm not sure about processed hair. My natural unprocessed hair is stronger than my relaxed or coloured hair.

Although I wore a swim cap my relaxed hair still got wet, so when I was talking swimming lessons 2x a week, I washed my hair with swimmer's/chelating shampoo after each lesson, followed by moisture shampoo and conditioner. My hair suffered no ill effects due to the chlorinated water.

@@marleyhill34 great tips. I chelated shampoo every time my hair got wet with chlorinated pool water. I didn't want to take any chances. My hair was relaxed at the time. Since my water at home is so hard I still use chelating shampoo every few months just to remove buildup.

@@CharTurner6928 Yeah the swim cap isn't really to stop your hair getting wet. It's to reduce drag and stop your hair getting in your face when you swim. It also stops your hair from absorbing as much water as it would without the cap. My chelating shampoo is a bit too strong for my fragile hair to be used every week/ or every day so I use the alternative method. even relaxer is a bit too much for my hair. It takes all the thickness and body and volume out. which to be honest I hate. I was always trying to get more body in my limp relaxed hair.

Now my hair is thick long and natural...I wash my hair weekly, keep up with my trims, deep condition it, and do low manipulation hair styles 💯🤘🏽

I didnt think she was trying to throw shade with her comment. I understand your being defensive, most of the time we as black people have to be. I think its great that people of other cultures are interested in the many beautiful ways we do our hair.

From cutting all my 4C hair off in 2016 and watching it all grow back I've understood why it's stressful to have natural hair but also understand why it's such a blessing.....watching you barely comb through her damaged hair and seeing her shine was so amazing....because all women have beautiful hair regardless of texture and seeing you do it here is just...mind touching

i found your channel recently and have been going through all your videos binge-watching them. your personality shines in how kind and skilled you are and your voice is so soothing to listen to!

I have been watching her videos recently and I haven't seen a more polite hairdresser than her...Like whenever someone messes up with their hairs she responds "No It happens!" How cute❤️✌🏻

Haha “bumping the ends” I hated getting my ends “bumped” back in the day......ended up with a mushroom style 🤨😫🤣🤣

Your videos are my hair therapy I learn so much from them and just enjoy watching them!

I really appreciate all of your hard work in teaching the women of today on how to properly care their hair 🙏🏾 You have been a great help to my hair growth journey!

Oh yes! My last protective style with a leave out before I went natural in 2013, my leave out broke off so badly! It was because I kept flat ironing it! That’s when I decided to go natural and have been since! Ladies please don’t make the same mistake lol

That is why I never do a leave out when wearing a weave. I normally just wear a good lace wig nowadays, this way my hair isn’t touched ☺️

I need help. I wore wigs but the wig cap broke off the front of my hair. From ear to ear it looks like a black fuzzy band. What am I doing wrong. I stop wearing them for a while to let it grow back, but started again and it broke off.

I’m glad I’m not the only one! I thought I was crazy feeing like coconut oil didn’t do my hair any good!

I know a lot of ppl keep weave in their hair all the time and their biggest mistake is they don't take care of the real hair they take the hair down the day of getting it redone. I always take my hair down 2 weeks before getting it done again deconditioned,moistures & oil my scalp

I take my hair down and get it redone at the same time alot. But I get it done and removed by a professional everytime. For braids, I give my hair a real break in between.

What a beautiful comment and you made me feel a lot better. I am going through major things and I feel so alone and isolated. In some ways, even though very painful, it has made me cling more to Jesus Christ. I feel really envious (bad, I know) of people who seem to have a lot of family and friends. Yes it's protein rich and folks with alot of natural protein(you have very rich protein naturally thick hair from what I see you will dry)I got fine hair n color but to much or already thick hair dries it out

Agreed! I stopped using any coconut based hair treatments and I thought the reason was because I hate smelling like coconut. But I also don't like what it does to my hair. When I'm really in a pinch, I prefer to use just a little bit of olive oil. But nothing -- nothing -- beats good nutrition and exercise.

Coconut oil and water makes my hair melt while detangling. Combing it is effortless. However I do not use it in Fall or Winter because the cold turns it back into a solid brick, so just imagine that hard layer covering your hair. Late Spring n Summer are the only times I use coconut oil.

Natural hair is beautiful I wish the younger generation would realize this 🥺

Her hair is beautiful and you can see how proud she is. You are truly a professional sister. Yes wish there were more like you around.

I have been natural almost 10 years and have only been to a stylist one time and it was an awful experience. The work you do is amazing! I would trust you with my hair because of the love, care and knowledge that you give to all your clients! I live in North Carolina and I'm going to fly to Philadelphia just to get a good trim and blow out on myself and my daughter's hair this fall 🙌🏾

She was trying to get it to match a completely different hair texture. I've been there. I remember I flat ironed that leave out every day several passes too. I had very noticable breakage and it took a long time to even out.

Man, that simple math - 410 x 2nd pass = 820! A more in the face explanation for my heat damage, on top of thin hair and not having a temp gauge... 😬 That’s why I went back to my faithful two-strand twists for recovery! 🤦🏽‍♀️

this is why i don’t do protective styles often. i can feel it pulling my hair

Same, plus I get those bumps around my hairline and they get so red and painful. I’ve only had like 2 people do my hair tight enough to where it looks good but I don’t get those bumps.😢

Me either and I only have one girl do it my cousin and I never get small braids or anything intricate and always knotless. Also, getting quality braiding hair makes a huge difference. I bought some cheap braiding hair a few months ago and it made my ends so bad my hair was v shaped in the back after my blowout. Luckily mom (whose a licensed cosmetologist) fixed it for me and gave me a trim.

@@lalasarchive1 you can also wash your braiding hair in acv and then conditioner and it will help the hair be less itchy and less drying on your real hair

My leave out broke off in the past because I kept putting heat on it WITHOUT it being moisturized. Now I wash it every couple of weeks, deep condition the leave out and use a light spray leave in conditioner, silk drops, and heat protectant. I haven’t experienced any breaking since doing that.

I have watched dozens of your videos and am still amazed every single time by what hair can do and what you can do to hair.

I love how healthy her hair is! Your work is always a joy to watch ❤️

My leave out was actually burnt out by the hairstylist...she was pressing it and the hot comb was too hot and she wasn’t paying attention

This happened to me. It was from reapplying heat to get a perfect blend. It took about a year to grow back completely. 🥴
