Open now the crystal fountain, Whence the healing stream doth flow; Let the fire and cloudy pillar Lead me all my journey through. Strong Deliverer, strong Deliverer, Be Thou still my Strength and Shield; Be Thou still my Strength and Shield. Lord, I trust Thy mighty power, Wondrous are Thy works of old; Thou deliver’st Thine from thralldom, Who for naught themselves had sold: Thou didst conquer, Thou didst conquer, Sin, and Satan and the grave, Sin, and Satan and the grave. When I tread the verge of Jordan, Bid my anxious fears subside; Death of deaths, and hell’s destruction, Land me safe on Canaan’s side. Songs of praises, songs of praises, I will ever give to Thee; I will ever give to Thee. A great hymn - one of my own personal favourites - based on the flight of the Israelites out of Egypt under the leadership of Moses, one of the greatest leaders of any period in history. The 'Bread of Heaven' is the Manna that fell from the sky so that the refugees could survive and go on to found the great nation of Israel.

When I tread the verge of Jordan, Bid my anxious fears subside; Led me through the swelling torrent, Land me safe on Canaan's side. Songs of praises, Songs of praises, I will ever give to Thee, I will ever give to Thee. (Last Chorus - Welsh) O, am aros, O, am aros, Yn Ei gariad ddyddiau f'oes, Yn Ei gariad ddyddiau f'oes! (Last Chorus - English) Oh, to stay, Oh, to stay, In his love all days of life, In his love all days of life!
I just found this wonderful hymn, thank you so much for posting it. I haven't heard this for so long and now, from a whole continent and many years away it just reaches across and takes me straight home. Diolch yn fawr iawn
Brilliant song & a brilliant recording. Thank you for sharing. 😊
How beautiful. This has really lifted my spirits x
Loved this hymn for as long as I can remembrr. Delighted to find this uploaded. Many thanks!

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. I had a friend who was an Anglican Priest (obviously the Church of England) who LOVED this hymn.
After hearing this version and looking through the comments to find out who sung it, it was played at my dear dad's funeral. He was from the Rhondda Valley. This piece of music will always hold a place in my heart. Thank you.

Interesting! My grandmother, too, was an organist for a long time at our Episcopal church--she also loved this hymn and "How Firm A Foundation" which is another of my favorites.
Every year , my school song this at our commemoration service in Canterbury cathedral, being welsh I belt it out with pride every time
I love the sound of Welsh male choirs.
From the USA, geetings on this St David's Day to the Land of Song. May the good saint and the Red Dragon forever watch over you all.

Great song and a great video. I can't wait to go back to Wales next June.
Wonderful absolutely wonderful
A wonderful soaring heartwaming anthem .
Beautiful , WALES FOREVER
When they sung this at the football for Gary Speed it just meant a lot.
We'll be singing our hearts out! God bless you Gary.
A great, great rendition of a song which is so much more than something sung at Welsh rugby games - A bedrock of Christian worship about the promise of life eternal through the person the "bread of (life) heaven", hence we sang it with youth brass band opposite the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff at our son's funeral.

Guide me, O thou great Jehovah, Pilgrim through this barren land; I am weak, but thou art mighty; Hold me with thy powerful hand: Bread of heaven, bread of heaven Feed me now and evermore. Feed me now and evermore.
I will be one of the 52,000 Toon Army singing this on Saturday at St James' Park. RIP Speedo.

Fantastic 💚☘️🇮🇪
@mrspenn1611 Thank you very much. What a lovely reply. I attended my uncle's funeral last week and Bread of heaven was chosen by my aunt. It's becoming a family tradition! It was when we had to sing it that I broke down. This piece of music gets me every time. I hear it and makes me proud to have welsh blood pumping through my veins. It's especially moving when a Welsh male voice choir sings it.
Wonderful!
So beautiful and such a beautiful video!🌻😊 Only wish there were lyrics so I could sing along!
I can't listen to this without thinking of that episode of One Foot in the Grave where Victor finds the tape with the car mechanics' song on it
Beautiful and spiritual
The greatest Blackadder line - “What’s the matter? She’s not Welsh is she?” 😂
rip speedo always in our minds
My great great grandfather came from Wales to settle free land in Canada. Someday I will visit Wales.
Beautiful.
Wonderful!"By this bread is meant the heavenly sustenance of divine perfections. In other words, whoso partakes of this sustenance-that is, whoso acquires the outpouring grace of God, draws illumination from His light, and obtains his portion of the perfections of Christ-will attain everlasting life." - Abdu’l-Baha
Please listen to the men singing it in the film 'How Green Was My Valley'. Just Superbly Perfect & Powerful!
Beautiful! Godbless you Rex.
