I'm.laying here in a hospital bed Nov.30, 2021 and the nurse asked me if I wanted the blind pulled down. I said no, I like sunrises. I started singing this song and praising and worshipping my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Then I went to find it on KZread and played it and sang, as best as I could, along with it. All praise and glory to the Most High God!

I will never ever forget this song. My 3 week old baby died from sudden infant death syndrome in 1991 and this song was playing at his viewing. I found my baby boy in his crib that early morning. I know now that he woke up safe in the arms of Jesus in heaven . I can now finally listen to this song and feel peace in my heart. I love you baby Justin ❤️

I love this song for so many reasons. In 1985 I became a Christian and had entered a women's Christ centered rehabilitation program in Garrison NY (The Walter Hoving Home). On Easter we were asked who wanted to go to the sunrise service on Bear Mt? I signed up. I never heard of a sunrise service let along been to one, so I was curious. (I didn't realize we had to get up before the sun ~ lol) We got up to the top of the mountain there were people already there and they were handing out hot chocolate, tea and coffee. The pastor asked everyone to be seated (it was an outdoor amphitheater). We were all silent as we looked at the beautiful view from the top of the mountain. The next thing I heard was this song coming out of the speakers as the sun began to rise, I was in tears everything was so serene and beautiful....You could feel the presence of God as the song played, the sun rose and the shadow of the cross that was positioned at the peak of the mountain fell upon us all. No one could speak....it was glorious.

This was played at my Dad's funeral. We hadn't spoken for many years and just before he died we were re-united. I was so thankful that we had the chance to reconcile before he went home to the Lord. Frances,what you wrote is exactly what my experience was on Oct 30,2018. I was estranged from my dad for many years and had just reconnected with him the week before he died,over the phone.During that week,I told him I'm working on getting my passport and coming to visit him but we spoke only shortly because he was tired .Then I missed a couple of calls from him but then we finally were able to speak for almost an hour.Then he said good night and we would talk again in the morning .I said goodnight but then clearly said "I love you,Dad".and he said thank you .I had never said that to him and he had never said I love you for my entire life. But I told him,clearly,and they were the last words I ever said to him. He died 6hours later,unexpectedly.I believe it wasn't an accident and somehow there is something beyond reality as we know it . I'm so grateful to God who led me to reconnect with my dad and let him know that I loved him.Im so happy you also reconnected with your dad and he knew that you loved him.

My Gran died a few weeks ago, this song was also played.

I was sitting in the garden drinking coffee on this beautiful morning. A blackbird came and perched on the wall just beside me and recommended I listen to this song. I am so glad I took his advice.

I am crying in gratitude to God for his beautiful creation which for too many years I took fur granted. I just rediscovered this song on this glorious early morning. I remember when it was a popular song on the radio, and of course just thought it was a pleasant rhythmic sound, but I never got past the first line of the lyrics. One of the most beautiful, inspiring songs I've ever heard...

I played this song at the vet's office for my 17 year old cat Maddie that I sadly had to put to sleep on 2.21.22. she was deaf, but I didn't care I sang to her the whole time as I gave her kisses and cupped her little head in my hands while giving her kisses. It was a nice peaceful transition for her, but I will never be able to listen to this song without balling my eyes out. It's so hard losing a pet. Heartache runs deeper than words can even begin to describe. 🐾❤️🐾❤️

I lost my 17 year old cat on Aug 2, 2020. Losing a beloved pet is so difficult. I had such a close bond with my cat. He was like my shadow following from room to room. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for my sweet Tiggy.

It’s spiritual because it was originally written as a Christian hymn. An English author named Eleanor Farjeon wrote the lyrics. It was put to an older Scottish tune and first published in 1931. In addition to Cat Stevens, Neil Diamond and others have recorded this song.

It has long been one of my favorites. I graduated high school in 1975. At my wife's memorial service, today, with this song playing in the background, I compiled a slide show commemorating her life. The slides ran from her birth, childhood years, high school graduation, marriage and the birth of our first two daughters. Morning has Broken made a beautiful narrative to the beginning of life through the generations.

Very well said and put..That's exactly what it means. Anyone who doesn't like this song does not want to be waking up to a morning has broken. They just want every day of their life to be dull doom and gloom. Storms that is and nothing of sunshine and happiness to share with others who really do need it. Even when they think they don't. So to those who don't like it. This is for them. MORNING HAS BROKEN. let the light shine in and on. When the sun does shine. That's the light. Think of the time of the year when those many beautiful flowers start to come up from the soil. Their planted and water then they grow. Think of the trees with the famous beautiful very nice but sometimes annoying singing dancing little birds. I thought I saw a pussycat. And with the birds also singing and dancing is Alvin and the Chipmunks. Well I guess all things are beautiful even in cartoons.

Back in the 80s, this was our favorite song in the morning 🌄 💕 my parents play this song every morning to wake us up and in the 90s when my youngest brother was born this was my mom's favorite lullaby to my lil brother. And when I have my kids in 2016 & 2018 my mom sang this to my children to put them to sleep. Until now, my kids still love to hear this song 😊🎉 sweet memories etched in their hearts and so my mom's voice. She still hums this song when she's doing some stuff. 😊❤ 🎉

This song meant so much to me when i was 20 and now that i'm 71 it means even more.

One of the most beautiful songs ever made. Without a doubt, this is GOD inspired. I still get goose bumps.

I was little when this came out, and thought (as a little kid) "Music cannot get better than this!" I woke up this morning after battling COVID and thought "my fever has broken!" then thought of this beautiful song. I've played it about 6 times already. I forgot how incredible it is.

One of my Dad's favorite songs. We played it at his funeral mass as he was being carried out of the church. I'm sure he was smiling down at it all! Rest in peace Dad. You taught us so much beautiful music that we will always remember.❤️

When this was first released and popular in the early 70s, I listened to it every morning on the radio as I got ready for school. Now, Alexa plays it for me first thing in the morning when no one else is up and my world is still quiet and peaceful. It's a beautiful way to start a day.

Hello Emily, how is things going with you?

I noticed you uploaded this song Aug 13, 2012 - 7 years ago today. On July 5, 2012 my friend and I were caught in a horrible storm and she was killed. My past has always held a pretty tight grip on me, but after that happened it has tried to consume me. I have loved this song since I was a little girl and I was led to listen to it this morning with the lyrics. It spoke to my heart in a transformative way! It revealed the truth that my past is where hell lies and today is brand new and today I am brand new. I have nothing to glean or figure out or fix or overcome from the past because the past has been changed and transformed to this brand new day. I can rejoice and be glad in this day that the Lord has made. I can be of good cheer because Truth and Life are walking before me clearing my way. I can handle what comes my way today, because I have put down my useless should have list from yesterday. I can be open to being a part of and seeing Heaven at hand because me and this day are not the only ones that are brand new. Ye need only believe! I love that it has been 7 years. That represents Sabbath, Rest and Freedom to me. Thank you Rachel so much! Sweetly enough that was my friend’s name:)

I have to disagree with you on that. Cat Stevens does a magnificent job, but to me the beauty of this song lies in it's marriage of sublime words and wonderful music. I remember being captivated by it when I first sang it in school assembly, aged 5, back in 1960, and I'm equally as impressed and moved by hearing it sung in a school assembly, a choir, a church, in fact, everywhere I hear it sung.

This was one of my Mom's favorites; always reminds me of her. She passed in 1986 from pancreatic cancer. Oddly enough, found this song's sheet music in our piano bench yesterday; Google music played it as a random selection this morning 😃 Well, Hi, Mom! Love you and miss you, dearly!! 😘🥰

i'll play this beautiful song every morning for praising the Lord.

My mom was a Catholic Church organist, and taught in the Catholic schools . When I was a kid in the 70’s, she was my music teacher and taught this beautiful song to us in school. We’d sing it at Mass.

Memorized this for my grandmothers funeral. She wanted it sung there. It’s in the morning in 9 hours. I miss you Grammie.

Was wäre das diesseits wenn es kein Prüfung für mich und dich geben würde ? What a beautiful reminder of the amazing opportunities that every new day brings. We sang this in primary school in Tanzania every Friday. This was way back in the 70s

I always have LOVED this song but never knew how LOVELY it really was until it was played by the organist as the opening song for the morning Mass at 7 AM. I got teary-eyed and had goosebumps. What a way to begin the day and Mass! 🥰😇

I remember way back in grade school, my mom would always turn on the radio as our alarm in the morning and this is the song that the radio station would always play. So whenever I hear this song, it brings me back to that same morning.

Morning has broken was played at my dearest Susters celebration of life service, Her Daughter had chisen it and I thought it would be an odd chioce, but when I listened to it, it was so beautiful and praising our Creator, our FATHER IN HEAVEN, it was just lovely,.Miss you so much dear Sister.

What a lovely and loving compliment to our Lord Jesus.

Knocked out by this song in 1970. Cat Stevens was my hero I adored then. Today in 2020 I still luv same song with its beautiful lyrics, strong sentimental vocal n clever instrumentation. Immortal song. Always refreshingly enjoyable.

This song reminds me of all my loved ones who are no longer here. It fills my heart with sorrow but blessed that God brought them into my life.

The circle of life!

I remember hearing this song as young teenager in St. Louis Mo. on Easter Sunday morning when a talented member of our choir sang it as part of the Easter morning services , I loved that song then and I still love it today .

How beautiful it is to wake up early in the morning and this warm greeting by God is the first thing you see, feel and experience.... Sometimes, I get tranced when I am in such awe at the beauty of God's creation. I want to remain in that state for a much longer time cuz it feels like Heaven.. #ThankYouJesus #MySouLIsThirstyForYouLordMyGod

My mother sang this to my youngest brother (born 1993). I always hear her sweet voice when she puts my bro to sleep sometimes she'd hum to the tune. This was my youngest bro's lullaby and my mother sang this too to my son(2016) when he was a baby and while putting my son to sleep. 😍😘💖❤

I wonder how few people realize that this awsome song is a hymn. Been singing this in church since I was a child.🙏

I always get up at sunrise... it's the optimistic time of the day..new potential. I often sing this song. It's like a prayer to me

This was sung at at our wedding June 1, 1991 by our friend Laura Chester with her guitar. Love this always even when we were in college at San Agustin. It’s actually a Church Hymn sang in American Baptist churches every first week of Spring. Thanks for posting

It really doesn't matter what "religion"......It matters that you accept Jesus Christ into your heart. Without the grace of the cross we are without justification on the day of judgement. A multireligious song will stear you away from the one true God and his only Son Jesus Christ.....don't be misled. Seek Christ Jesus while you can.

One thing's for sure , I believe in my CREED , but I am not a religious FANATIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish you all the best in life to come . By the way , I'm also CATHOLIC like you . The only thing that interests me is RESPECT for all the people and their CREED . This goes the same for them also .

Makes me Imagine how beautiful Eden was on that first morning...and how heaven will be when I get there. CAN'T WAIT! ♥️

When I was a kid going to elementary school in Mexico City I used to have one of those radio /alarm clocks and I had it tuned to a classic rock station that played "Morning Has Broken" every day when the alarm went off. It is, to this day, one of the greatest songs ever written and the perfect way to wake up. Whoever the DJ was, he was a genius and I am forever indebted to him. Gracias, Yousef! 🙏🏾
