BREAD MAKING in 5 mins - Totally Cheating!

There is no greater glory for a homemaker than to master the art that is "making bread" knowing how to tame your yeast into glorified goodness is a skill certainly worth all the praise. But let's be real, you have chores to do, laundry that needs folding, kids that need your attention, your chicken just flew the coop... whatever. As much as we try to slow things down sometimes you just need the help of a few cheat tricks to get your weekly bread made with little to no attention from you.
So no shame needed all you homemakers, we do what we have to do sometimes and that is perfectly O.K.!

Recipe Ingredients:
1 Cup Water
1/3 Cup Sugar
1/8 Cup Coconut Oil
3/4 tsp Salt
3 Cups Bread Flour
1 Package Fast Acting Yeast
Directions:
Put ingredients into break maker in order provided, make a small well in flour and add your yeast. Use dough setting on your bread maker, hit the start button, and off you go to do something more useful of you time... even if that is watching KZread :)
Once Bread Machine has completed the dough cycle, lightly knead dough on floured surface and roll out into rectangle. Roll up and tuck ends under and place in your greased bread pan to complete second rise. You can do this the old fashioned way and put in a warm area of your home covered with a tea towel or if you happen to have a dehydrator turn on bread setting and let rise 45 mins - 1 hour. My house is so cold in the winter months it would take for ever to get my bread to rise. When momma wants bread, I want bread NOW!
Once second rise is complete, place in pre-heated 350 oven for 30 mins. Enjoy all the happy thoughts while you smell your bread cooking.
I hope you enjoy the couple of cheats/tricks to get your bread made when you just don't have time to "make" bread!

as a man who bakes bread all day... a few errors.. the heat on the dehydrator is a terrible idea. the reason is if the heat goes over 120 itll kill the yeast. as well you really dont want a lot of air moving around the bread. turn your oven LIGHT on only the light and put a pot of boiling water in the oven. it will cool quickly but release the needed moisture and heat boost to make proofing quick and easy, then put your bread in.do not set the water under the product without the product being shielded well on the bottom, a stone works well. and remove the bread immediately from the pan, so it can cool evenly. sometimes letting it rest in the pan will cement it into the pan! ive seen it first hand! also, check into saf instant! lovely stuff. cheap as hell too!

Thanks for the tips also wanted you to know that the dehydrator temperature setting is 110 degrees. I personally haven’t made bread yet so any information helps me!

As a breadmaker fan just a reminder that the order of ingredients is based on the bread machine's manufacturer. So if you get a great deal at Salvation Army spend a few minutes on the internet finding that brand's manual and read what the manufacturer says to do. I was sick for a very long time and my bread machine saved us from buying commercial bread with all those preservatives and GMO ingredients. I still love my Zo machine and use it occasionally. Great video Rachel.

I do it in the bread machine but I just form the loaf in the air and put it in the pan without rolling it out, because I don't like cleaning up the mess. I use the oven with the light on to proof it, and I cut the top a few times to make it split on top instead of on the side. I love this tip though!

How is it cheating when the bread machine is supposed to do it all for you? What is the point of a bread machine when it is supposed to cook it for you but you are cooking it yourself? I must be missing something lol. Surely cheating would be to just let the machine do it all?

the bread machine i have messes up the bread after it proofs. it will heat up to the baking temperature and in the process the dough sinks and i end up with big holes inside as well as the paddle in the bottom that mixes it, is stuck inside the loaf. i've done it the way Rachel does and it works great. my main problem with making homemade bread is i eat way too much of it. toasted with butter and honey is my downfall and i'll eat the whole loaf in a day if i have homemade bread around.

What annoys me about these videos is the bread is never sliced when bread is cool enough. And the bread is never tasted. After all you edited out the times when the bread was rising. Why couldn't you edit out the time it took for the bread to cool down enough to slice and try.

  • @1870s

It's usually cooled enough for slicing in about 20 mins. The point to this video is it only takes 5 mins of my hands on time to make bread. I love that I can go get other task done while it's mixing, rising and kneading. Using a bread machine that process takes 1.5 hours. I love the taste of my bread. Great feedback though, I should have showed how nicely it slices.

I rip a chunk of bread off with my hand 2 minutes after pulling it out of the oven. Nom Nom Nom!!!! I eat bread every day, but will start using a machine this Tuesday. I should have bought hte machine a lot sooner. It is invaluable for someone who bakes a lot of bread.
