There will never be another decade like the 70s. Where did all the groups like Bread and Sylistics go? With the exception of singers like Adele, the industry is pretty sad. For those of us who grew up in the 70s, it was a magical time.

I was stationed at Minot AFB, North Dakota spending many freezing and lonely nights on the flight line guarding B52s and this song was played a lot on the local radio station. I remember looking up at the black North Dakotan sky which was saturated with stars along with the Aurora Borealis. This song helped get me through those cold nights. It " Kept me goin'" A great song. Great memories.

This is literally the first song I can ever remember hearing. I remember my dad played if for me in the car one time picking up from school in ‘06, every day after that, I asked him to play the guitar man song. Man this is a classic that won’t ever get old for me❤️

I sure miss those days when life just seemed a little easier . I think the world just got in a big hurry and why I don't know but I just think we need to slow down some.

Hats off to our Dads. The late , great Jimmy Griffin is buried in the same cemetery as my Dad in Memphis, Tn. All the members of Bread are gone now except David Gates. RIP boys, you were good.

English is my second language, as a child I liked the songs in that language, the only thing I regret is that no longer they make songs like that, they musicians, no longer have the feeling of that time, there is something special in these songs. I think they wont come back again, excellent group

Steve Wright on Radio 2 played this yesterday afternoon .Great song which I hadn't heard for years .thats why I'm here.Steves show is great and it's in the UK but you can stream it abroad.

Growing up in the sixties and seventies I never realized how incredibly good so many groups were/are. I was growing up in the golden age of rock n roll. Rock on!

Simply love this song. Beautiful voice and simpler time. When it was truly great . 🎼🎼❤️❤️

Superb. Always loved the melancholy in that song. Lovely guitar here by a young Dean Parks. The original version had featured lead guitar from the late, great Larry Knechtel. The same man who played piano on 'Bridge over Troubled Water', organ on 'Good Vibrations' and bass on 'Mr Tambourine Man'. Some legacy, eh?

I grew up in the 80s and we had pretty good music but you guys in the 70s REALLY had the best music era of all time. I sometimes cant get over the level of talent that was in the 70s. Even some of our beloved 80s bands like Hall & Oates, Depeche Mode, and The Police started in the 70's...Thanks for the upload-Its the best version Ive found.

Been listening to Bread for years. This version of Guitar man is splendid.

Awesome song that can all be played in first position chords. I love Bread, one of the most heartfelt bands that ever was, and that I suspect will ever be.

An excellent live version of a great tune by Bread! These guys put out one great tune after another back in the fabulous 1970s! Bravo, David Gates, James Griffin (R.I.P.), Robb Royer, Larry Knechtel (R.I.P.) & Mike Botts (R.I.P.)!

My 13 year old "head-banger" son finally told Me the other day that he loved this song! I'm an "old" head - banger but this is the music I grew up with and I still love it more then today's music! I hugged my son and said "Thank you"! I knew you'd come around!!!

I don't know why but this was always one of my favorite David Gates (BREAD) tunes. I guess the simplicity of the song and the good melody of it. Of course Gate's voice hooked up with this song just, well, WORKS! It's also a common song for many new Guitarist's to learn to play and sing to. Thanks David for the wonderful memories. I would love to see a BREAD reunion tour although I know a few of the members have passed on. A Bread reunion tour would be so awesome. Gates can STILL SING!

I was a 6 yr old kid when Bread came out with some of the best songs. Just turned 50: They are still one of the best bands ever... David your voice is God sent. This is actually my husbands account, he is MY guitar man. Love to all who are blessed to be able to play.

Used to thrash Bread back in the early 70s with my mono cassette player, boy those were the days.

Nice. My first new car was the '72 Dodge Charger SE, w/concealed headlights, 440CI V8 w/4 bbl. Traded it in 3 years later for a dull "family car" following marriage and expecting first child. Dunno WTF i was thinking. Boy, those were the days though!

During the 70s, we liked Deep Purple, Led, Black Sabbath; however, we had The Bread in high steem, since they were exceptional composing and playng ballads. Good times.

I heard this song while watching on TV-Maid in Manhattan,so I miss Bread's songs,especially,guitar man is very special.thank you very much.

This was one if my favorite songs of that time period and I totally agree. We had our issues but it was a simpler more laid back era. Today the world moves too fast and most people seem so wrapped up in themselves to care about others,

What a glorious narrative. Bread could take you for a ride with every song. Love songs, songs of daily grind, travelling songs...they could write them all with equal aplomb.

High school boyfriend and I dancing the night away to this song...sweet memories!

The lead guitarist in the yellow and black shirt is the studio legend Dean Parks. He played a vintage triple humbucker rare Les Paul guitar in black (exactly like Peter Frampton’s). The 1972 studio version of this song featured Larry Knechtel playing lead guitar 🎸, as well as bass guitar on the original track. Cool 😎 stuff! Larry played the piano on Simon and Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water” song, amongst being a member of The Wrecking Crew studio band, which he played on most of The Beach Boys “Pet Sounds” LP, and the legendary unreleased “Smile” LP, along with him playing on so many other bands hit songs since the early 1960’s.....

This song never fails to make me cry.. Even I myself am not sure why I am crying over this.. It's just beautifully sad..

I remember hanging out in the music lounge at Bayway U ( NJ), in early 1972, Sharing a bone with some of my friends, with the music of bread on the stereo. It was sweet music back then, and it's still sweet music today.

ive been a guitarman for 25years and the journey is awsome id hear this song as a kid on the radio stone age time to today but better as you had real friends not computer friends back then you experienced good parties lots of naughty woman lots of danger fast cars with pride as today they have toy cars we had v8s life without guitar for me is life without food everyday music today is made for slow minded people simple minds music in the past was adventure a story a feeling of pride thats why it lives still to this day

His amazing talent, his soft voice, the perfection of his melody, there is just something incredibly sexy about it. Wow!

This singing style has some vocal inflections that remind me of Edie Brickell. Wonder if they're from the same place or something.
