Those were some special years to have been growing up as a teenager. We witnessed the explosion of rock and heavy metal music. The 70s gave birth to so many legendary bands. I'll always remember the parties, all the concerts, great friends, and wild times. Personally I don't know how or when my days will end, but I do feel very lucky to have lived them decades and I share your sentiments 👍 August 2023.

Oh well back to my music when singers were singers and songs had melody and meaning.

From someone who grew up in the 60s & 70s I can't tell you how many times I remember the old days and how I wish I could go back in time and have a do over. There would be so many things I would change like talking to this girl in 8th grade named Sheri who could with just staring at me make me weak to my knees. Or try out for Baseball or kept going with my medical studies. When I hear this song it rushes old memories back in my mind. I really love this song. To all of those in junior high and high school today. GO FOR IT you only get one shot in life and before you know it your 60+ years old listening to old songs and things you wish you would of done....

Did you live my life? I take this song theologically, because it is based on the inherent sadness since what Christians call "the fall" . When I think about it, what a great ballad for a film as Christ walks to his destiny as a man, redeeming the fallen world with stunning bravery as he is mocked. He wants to go home to his Father but the cross beckons, there is still work to do. Thank God for the few times I have had a bit of bravery in my life. Fruit just poured out afterwards. Could use some right now.

Richard and his best friend were killed instantly and another dear friend was seriously injured by a man that had already been charged with DWI 3 times! He should have never been allowed behind the wheel. Like you, she is devastated and I pray everyone will keep you and others that have suffered such great loss in their prayers. Nobody can imagine what you are going through unless they have been there themselves. I'm so very sorry and you and many others are in my prayers. Blessings to you always. =(

I keep coming back to this song. I've been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and this one hit wonder hits all my thoughts on reflectng is my life. It's feels like I never left that era. I guess that's my home. It's been good, bad,and ugly. This sweet sentiment of a song gave us hope in the chaos of the late 60s. My boyfriend went to Nam in 70. The letters from him fit this song. You just want to go back home. Innocence gone when you figure out "You can't go back home". It's just a reflection. A piece of your heart.

@@helenechildress377 Who's "we"? You can live in a perpetual "La La Land", but I won't. I live in America. Our country is disintegrating. Through 60 years of IMMORALITY, America today is perverse, addicted, gluttonous, narcissistic, psychotic, violent, rude, uncivilized, and in denial. The American spirit has been destroyed - all by design. With the communist scourge reeking havoc in all areas of society, this will only get worse, i.e. - chaos, mayhem, and müřdër. So go and smell the roses, down that perverbial primrose path, along the yellow brick road, on your way to the "Land of Oz". But beware, when the "Grim Reaper" knocks at your door - it's much too late.

Too much gray, distrust and hate today not enough love and peace. I am so glad I had the opportunity to live in that great period of music. All I can say to the new generation of people, listen and learn to this amazing music of the past it will supercharge you and take you on a journey to the center of your mind.

I'm so sorry for your loss and for all that have lost a spouse or other loved ones. My dear friend lost her husband on April 7th, 2023 when his truck was t-boned by a drunk driver.

This song came out during my senior year in college. The shootings in Kent State closed our campus. I had been drafted a few months earlier in the draft lottery of 1969. I was headed to USMC boot camp in a few months. This song has remained seared in my memory ever since. Hearing it now, it seemed to be the perfect soundtrack to my life in those uncertain days. This song brings up emotions that are hard to describe. Thinking of my youth and when my parents were young and we had our while lives ahead of us. How I miss my father!!!!

You hit the nail on the head. I was in high school in the 70's. This song does bring up "emotions that are hard to describe" The emotions leave me with a melancholy and sad feeling.
GOD PLEASE PROTECT ME AND MY FAMILY AND SEND YOUR HEALING ANGELS TO WATCH OVER US I THANK YOU JESUS AND I PRAISE YOU JESUS AMEN 🙏
I went to Vietnam at age 20. Spent a year as an ER (Trauma) medic. The sorrow broke me and I was changed forever. This song somehow speaks to what happened to us there
I loved this as a 10 year old because they are from my home city. Love it 50 years later because of the wonderful song.
Amazing makes me cry every time I listen to it. I want my youth back for a bit. If only for a short while.

Acct with playlists Death is not the end. It's just a new beginning. If everyone knew that, no one would be afraid to die. We've got dying backwards. That's why suicide is a no no.

I’m sorry, but this song really hits home! Rest in Peace Dean Ford! You’re a music genius!
My younger brother died of HIV/AIDS in 1999. He wanted this song played at his funeral, but it didn't happen. I blasted it all the way home as loud as my speakers would go! Rest in peace, Bubby! We'll all be together again one day!
Oh yeah I remember this song I used to sing this in my room as kid. They sound like the Hollies a little bit but this was when the radio played an amazing range of songs from every different genre of music. I miss those days of radio. Long may they live and thanks to You-Tube we get them at the touch of a button Love it Glenn Augustyn

Me too. It had nothing to do with war, though, just that angsty thing you have when you are young.
