Brea Reese - Alcohol Ink Tile Coasters - Artist Marie Diemert

PROJECT TITLE: “Alcohol Ink Tile Coasters”
----------------------------------
DESIGNED BY: “Marie Diemert”
----------------------------------
SKILL LEVEL (1-5): 1
----------------------------------
TIME TO COMPLETE: 45 min
---------------------------------
AGE RANGE: recommended for ages 12 and up, minors with supervision
---------------------------------
MESSY LEVEL (1-5): level 3 messy
---------------------------------
PROJECT TIP: If you’re not happy with your tile, simply add rubbing alcohol to a paper towel, wipe the tile clean and start over!
-------------------------------
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. To keep the colors cohesive for these porcelain tile coasters, choose one alcohol ink color for each coaster plus Slate. (Fog or Black could be substituted for Slate)
2. Start with a few drops of your chosen color diagonally from one corner to another, add Slate in the corner below or above, leaving one corner white.
3. Add blending solution.
4. Use your blow dryer on its lowest setting in a circular motion to blend the colors and solution together, keeping one corner white and free of ink.
5. Add more color or blending solution until your happy with your tile.
6. Finally, add a few drops of blending solution to the empty white corner and push it with your dryer toward the color or opposite corner.
7. Follow the same instructions for each tile, using different colors with the Slate alcohol ink.
8. Wait until ink is completely dry, and then seal your tile if desired. Sealant options are listed below under "Other Supplies".

Other Supplies:
 Blow Dryer
 Porcelain square white tile (from home improvement store)
 Felt or adhesive cork for backing
 Resin, Modge Podge, or Kamar varnish are good options for sealing the tiles after being painted. A good spray sealant option for hot/cold coasters is the "Duplicolor Clearcoat Acrylic Enamel."

So many comments asking unanswered questions about sealing. Yes, you will need to seal them or the ink will just rub off. I prefer kamar UV archival matte spray a few coats in ver thin spray so your ink doesn’t reactivate then resin for coasters for wall art whatever sheen I’m looking for I’ll use rust oleum 2x after a few super thin coats of the archival spray to save money. I don’t sell my art.

😎😍. Can you use a heat gun to help move the ink around? What do you recommend as a sealant.
