Acho incrível que teve gente que não entendeu o documentário e criticou falando que o vídeo mostra que no Brasil só é capoeira e futebol, e que os traficantes são herois. O verdadeiro intuito do documentário é mostrar como a cultura pode tirar uma criança, um jovem e até um adulto do mundo do crime, como fala no 2:14. O video fala sobre a dança e a capoeira, mas já pararam pra pensar em quantos atletas olimpicos, jogadores de futebol, músicos e atores que saíram de uma vida propensa ao crime e a violência por causa da cultura? Então vc querendo ou não, os professores culturais salvam vidam, eles são sim herois, claro, a policia e os bombeiros tmb, como muitos estão criticando que o vídeo não falou. Excelente documentário, passou uma ótima imagem da cultura do país e não do país em sí. Todos os colaboradores e pessoas envolvidas estão de parabéns. This doc sums pretty much my life. My name is Michel, I've lived in the Complexo do Alemão for 32 years, I am now 36. This is known as one of the most dangerous favelas in South America, and that's where I made the worst and best days of my career as an ex-drug dealer. I saw my dad get murdered by the age of 8 by the Cops. No surprised I've joined the '' movement '' in the very same year as a '' rocketeer '' or fogueteiro in portuguese. n this job basically I had to warn the soldiers in the favela if we were being invaded. I slowly climbed my up way up in the hierarchy until I received my own boca de fumo to manage. Didn't too long for the other managers to take a dislike on me, since I may have been lucky due to spot, and was making far more money than them and moving up an mount that would surpass all of them together. It came to a point I had to fill 3 cases with money to give in, and that was roughly 20-30% of what I was getting, weekly. The police became the least of my concerns, as I am sure the many assassinations attempts I had suffered were ordered by the jealous coworkers I had. My '' friends ''. Luckily, their lives were short-lived, as BOPE (a special police unit) invaded our favela and took most of them out. I had a long time childhood friend in the Police, who alerted me of the termination they intended to do. I only had time to pass the message to my boss, so he could also have a chance for escape. Even though he knew he had no chance, he stayed with the boys. I loved the son of a bitch as a brother, however, I never heard of him again. Some say the police hid his body and stole all his money. Others say he went to the country side, live in a little farm he bought for himself. The way I knew him, he died between a lot of cocaine and a Bulletstorm until he couldn't no more. For myself, I chose Jesus, and nowadays I am a devoted evangelic follower. I won't lie, the money I did in the drug trade was ridiculous and it helped me give the life I live today. Funny thing is, when people ask me if I would do all over again, I just smile because I really don't have an answer.

Sou Moçambicano mas esse documentário me fez chorar, principalmente quando foi dito que na altura das olimpiadas o governo interditou a circulação dos machimbombos (ónibus), e colocou um paredão para os estrangeiros não verem as favelas. Me recordou um video que assistí ha dias que falava da verdadeira realidade de Dubai, e foi feito por um brasileiro e ele disse que há muitas favelas em Dubai mas são escondidas porque o estado vive de turismo então os estrangeiros não podem ver a pobreza que la existe, e eu pensei que fosse mentira de alguém que só queria ganhar com seu video e aumentar visualizações no seu canal, mas desde já gostaria de desculpar me mentalmente por ter pensado assim dele. Aqui em Moçambique não temos colocado paredões mas quando também não guiamos nossos visitantes para as zonas suburbanas, e também tenho visto nos videos angolanos que eles só mostram os prédios em construção, e apenas a capital (Luanda) tal como aqui em Moçambique que também só se dá valor a capital (Maputo). Os governantes só estão preocupados com seu umbigo, quando vão aos debates parlamentares só discutem coisas enfadonhas para final do mês ganharem seus salários astronómicos, mas neste momento há uma província por baixo de guerra e quando eles são questionados dizem que não é nada esta controlado, mas as populações estão a fugir daquela província e a procurar abrigo noutros lugares, e eu torço para que estas pessoas cheguem até a capital e aglomerem-se por lá para que estes governantes sintam a sua presença. Amazing and heartbreaking to see. Cant imagine this life but we as people endure so much and few overcome. God bless the people in the favelas. I would say Brazil but there are many who put these beautiful people down there.

Hunger and poverty breeds both excellence and innovation as well as violence and dispare. Extreme in both directions, but unfortunately the darkest paths are easy to get onto, so they are chosen more often. Bless these kids and the adults guiding them. Its refreshing and beautiful.
