There's a simple reason that Braveheart, Gladiator and Last of the Mohicans are three of the best historic films ever made - their soundtracks.

@@adalwolf8006 Braveheart is actually ahead by some distance, when I think about it. It's original, and stays interesting for the whole duration. LotM's central theme is actually taken from another piece of music. Gladiator can be inconsistent.

I grew up in Germany and was able to go on a summer trip through the highlands and stayed at the YMCA in Glasgow in 1996. I never felt anymore freer than when I was there...the peer marshes with the greenest softest moss and grass...the highland cattle. I just felt "at home" then years later I investigated my last name...SHADDEN ..and saw I had Scot ancestry from my father's line. Sheeesh...I am in the US now, but I love thinking back to those two weeks...they were the best and etched in my memory. I wish you safe travels. I lost an obsidian egg in one of those marshes...I suppose future archeologists will scratch their heads about why they found and egg. I only had 5 pounds left on my spending money so I got it as a keepsake souvenir. Our bus stopped and people wanted to walk up a peak that was snow capped for some reasoni stayed below and froliced between the little creeks. Well I came upon one I had to jump to cross..so I threw my showed over and the egg. I took a leap and my entire leg sank into the peet up to my crotch...my nice white jeans 😆😆😆..after managing to pull myself out I was only able to find my shoes but not the egg 😔😔😔 Trying to change my pants infront of a bus of teenagers was quite embarrassing. I wouldn't miss that trip for the worldi hope I can return one day. I believe the coast at Inverness was quite gorgeous and I loved the seashells. Ugh...now I am getting home sick to a place I never knew was my home. I heard the YMCA does not exist in Glasgow anymore.

@Hays I love this movie and this soundtrack , but i don't agree , there is also a movie with great soundtracks as well >>> INTERSTELLAR
I've always felt that a good film is made great by its soundtrack. I can spend days listening to nothing but Howard Shore, James Horner, Ramin Djawadi, Martin O'Donnell & Michael Salvatori, Ennio Morriconi and, most particularly, Hans Zimmer. The countless hours of bliss and deep emotions their music can stir are simply incredible. And when I come to Ambient Worlds I know I'm in the good company of fellow music lovers, something that truly unites us without us ever having to meet each other. If you do read this I want you to know that wherever you are and whatever you are doing, you've got a friend somewhere in the world who thinks your passion makes you great.

I see a lot of Scots posting their feelings. Such music inspires the soul, does it not? As a Yank from the states, we find the music to be an inspiration to continue the battle for freedoms against government. Once, I had personally interviewed a man who had survived the concentration camps of WWII. He was very old. His voice was hoarse. In his rough Polish accent he stated; "Never trust your government." Not my advice nor my words. It was his message to the future generations. A warning to open ears. When will we ever see, when will we ever learn, when will we ever be truly free? Freedom is a myth, duality keeps us enslaved and life goes on and on. Listen to the music and remember those who had eyes to see, ears to hear and voices that shouted loud enough for history to record!

A powerful movie that unfortunately played fast and loose with history to the point where the only truths were his victories and death - but almost every other detail, including cultural, rang false. I also cry when he sees his wife. The film does move me. But what a terrible thing that people think they are learning Scottish history from it when it’s just a travesty. And the Scottish Wars of Independence are so fascinating. Do look up “The Outlaw King” starting Chris Pine as Robert the Bruce. I was privileged to see it on the big screen when Netflix did that awful thing where they release an epic film for one week in a few major cities. I studied Scottish history at the University of St. Andrews, have lived in Scotland (two years wasn’t nearly enough) and am a descendant of the Bruce (he has many, so I’m not bragging!), and that film is nearly flawless historically. The medieval detail is great.
