Braum Seats | Jeep XJ Cherokee Restoration | Part 7

Watch Part 8 New Brake System: • Brake System Upgrade B...
In this video we are showing you how to install Braum Elite racing seats in any car. This trick can save you lots of money. Sometimes it's cheaper to just buy something new than try to restore something old. AS much as we wanted to restore the old seats I'm glad we were able to get these because they look great and are extremely comfortable! Plus the fact you can adjust them is a major bonus.

    Thanks! 3 different products actually. In the front I mainly used a high quality winter mat thats designed to be cut-to-fit in your trunk (WeatherTech AVM Universal Cargo Mat). But its pretty big and if you turn them sideways you can join two of them together - like I did. In the front I needed something less thick to deal with all the turns so I just used a no name mat thats pretty thin. Finally in the trunk I actually used a large BBQ mat. It's really thick rubber I just glued it all down. All of this is put onto soundproofing sheets I put everywhere underneath. So ya some real creative work here but it works!

    what did you do about the seat belts ? like the clicker thing lol

  • @SubdivisionAuto

    It was a little complicated not gonna lie. I was unable to undo the huge bolts that held the seat belts in. So I used a grinder to cut it down to size and attatched the new belts to that using really strong bolts. I actually have an episode on that if you check the channel. It was a bit of a shit show not gonna lie. But it worked!

    BTW the seat belts dont actually affect the seat, they are just attatched to the frame of the car. If you are just replacing your seats your belts are fine you dont gotta touch them

    Planning on doing this in my car, what has been done to the original seat mounts? Is it just a plate?

  • @SubdivisionAuto

    @SubdivisionAuto

    3 жыл бұрын

    The seat mounts have a sliding system on it and Its not attatched together so I added a piece of steel int he middle and screwed/welded them together. That steel made room to mount the seat right on top. Its not overly complicated but it was a creative fix for sure. Good luck le tme know hwo it goes

    Any updates to long term opinion on these seats? I'm considering seats just like this to replace the wj seats in my 01 xj. How have these seats held up? How's the cushion and feel off road? Do they still feel sturdy? I've got some trepidation about ebay seats safety

    whered you get the bracket? thats not a 87-95 bracket

  • @SubdivisionAuto

    @SubdivisionAuto

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes and no. It's a bracket that's been cannibalized. We took them apart and modified them to fit bucket seats back in 2005. I then added to them some steel bars because I found them a little ligjt duty. So it's all custom cutting and welding. A huge pain in the ass but it works

    @@SubdivisionAuto yea im about to install seats here in a day or two. those are 96-01 brackets you are using, i see you modified the front feet to sit flat. i have a 91 and its got the "curved" style brackets so im gonna fab up a bottom bracket for the seat, then weld it to the factory slider, then bolt the seat to it, using angle iron. wish me luck!

    @@driverj9954 Ah okay the guy before me had almost no interiror in it so he may have swapped the seats. I know at one point there was nothing in it to do the engine swap the way they did and add all the mechanics to the dash. Sorry I cant be of more help all I can say is the system I have sucks I would make a while new one that slides back and forth smoothly from scratch. Mine is pretty much permanent for my height. Good luck with yours hope it goes well its a pain but worth it! I think your place is solid if I were to do it again id do the same.

    for real i cant believe anyone would spend money on that shit, especially in an XJ.... Just go get some decent leather ZJ seats from a junk yard and it would be more comfortable, look better, and bolt right in without fabrication.

    Where did you get the rubber floor?

  • @SubdivisionAuto

    @SubdivisionAuto

    4 жыл бұрын

    In Canada we have a store thats similar to Auto Zone called Canadian Tire. Most of the flooring is two Weathertech trunk liners and the front is just two generic rubber mats (Had to use a thinner material to do all the curves. And the actual trunk is a BBQ underlay believe it or not. Thus far the materials have worked very well especially with the soundproofing pads underneath.
