This song is actually so deep. You always hear pop/r&b artists singing about either falling in love or about a tragic breakup, but rarely about the gray areas within a relationship. This song describes the feelings of dealing with the ambiguities of love so eloquently. ❤️

I never fully appreciated this song as a teenager when it came out, but now oh man it's such a fantastic piece...To anyone who has ever been in love with a distant/emotionally unavailable person this is so relatable and hits the nail on the head for how you want to be the one to show them true love and heal their loneliness, but alas, the problem lies within them and only they can fill their own void....

Brandy has the best music catalog for a R&B singer to me, all of her songs are fantastic and honestly she didn't even release the best songs off her albums. The album tracks are even better and she doesn't have a weak album, every album is incredible. She might not have released lots of records for someone that debuted in 1994 but her music repertoire as a whole is incredible (the best).

Something I do with songs (especially love/break up songs) is when I hear the word “Me” I imagine that “Me” as my higher self talking to me. When I hear “I” I imagine it as me right now, my ego. When I hear “You” I imagine it as “You” being my subconscious/inner child. This song is one of the most powerful songs I’ve ever listened to from that perspective.

This song is my absolute favorate, because it's theme centers so perfectly with my teenage years when I was intensely in love with a girl from church, who also expressed interest in me. But for some reason, I was just too chicken and kept on receding from making a move to get into a serious relationship with her. She waited for years always looking at me from across the choir, hoping one day, I'd do it, but I never did. I don't know what it was. Whenever I was around her I couldn't talk or do anything. I am basically the guy, Brandy is singing about, who just kept on lingering in the grey area leaving the girl uncertain about where this is going. To this day, I'm nearly 30 and despite all my accomplishments, this is my greatest regret of all. She was my first love, whom I can never forget. She is now married, and I sincerely wish her the best. Fellas, never leave a good woman waiting. That's all I can say. ;)

The music and its genres evolve throughout time, but there's something about that era of music which is irreplaceable, well-crafted and timeless at the same time. This right here is an example. Brandy's catalog is _all_ of those things.

I have a feeling that after that wreck she was in and caused ; Brandy was put on the "back burner". She's a lyrical genius who for whatever reason: is treated like ***t. It's up to her fans to lift her up...another fantastic favorite is: The boy is mine..lol

This takes me way back to my teenage years!

This song was the soundtrack of my first heartnreak. The words exactly describe how I felt and what I needed to hear confirmed at the time. This song gave me a sense of peace whenever I listened to it. Today 25 years later it still brings me back to that sad but peaceful state I was in when I first heard it . The magic of music.
