@@brrrr1584 Yea I think the books ended at season 6. Ironically enough, all the major issues started in season 7. You gotta give D&D credit for wanting to make the show and doing a great job using the books to write the script. But there's no doubt they can't write themselves.

There was a theory a while back that went: Bran worped into the man the children of the forest turned into the night king in the moment it actually happened and it trapped Bran in that body. He went partially insane and looked for a way to return, but could not. So he wanted to die. That is supposed to be the reason he did not put up much of a fight in the end.

@@Changshu You're being very generous with Martin. He had plenty of time to put out books for them to draw from. It's been 12 years since the last one. The same year the TV series started. Everyone wants to blame the showrunners cause they supposedly ruined the story, but it falls more on Martin. The show turns out to be great and he got distracted with being uber-famous and doing other things and let the story fade. He'll never finish it, not because of anything the showrunners did that he needs to fix, but because either he doesn't care to or he got stuck and didn't know where to go with this very complex story. It's easy to put the blame on the showrunners and for him to jump on that bandwagon, but where are the last books?

Brandon Stark becoming the Night King would've been a much better arc than what we ended up with. Also, they should've kept the original leafy design for the Children - it was beautiful and ethereal - almost deer-like. That grayish reptilian design they replaced it with was terrible.

I thought that also as well. In the books, Melisandre see Bloodraven in her flames and said that she saw the face of the true enemy. Bloodraven is a character that teach Bran to expand his powers to see the future. Ultimately, Bran is going to be chained to this fate, he will summon and control all the wights at will to destroy or "purify" Westeros. He is going to become and ice mad king sitting in his throne in the lands of always winter, where the "hero", maybe Jon Snow (i don´t know) will have to stab him and end the long night.

​@@veijiouuuu or maybe Bran wargs into the NK in episode 3 helping Arya kill him, but in that process his mind is corrupted by the NK (or a part of him dies with the NK) and he slowly grows more apart from humanity, even more than the 3 Eyed Raven has...he hears "whispers" out of nowhere, but they are more like feelings rather than whispers...they push him to check the future about Daenerys and discovers what she's about to do. He knows now, he has to be the new NK and stop the zombie army and use it for good as a last deed as a "human". What remains of Bran goes and fights Dany and her dragons for that reason and then goes back north with the zombie army and rebuilds the Wall (fulfilling the Bran the Builder story). He marches North with the zombie army and the ppl of Westeros never hear about Bran ever again...they end up making stories about big giants that came in the long night, about Bran the Builder who helped build the Wall, these stories go from generation to generation and they are altered beyond recognition. Now what they could hint in the show before/during these events, maybe through visions of Bran or more stories from Sam's books: It turns out the whole prophecy is a loop where the 3 eyed Raven (called Bran) becomes the Night King, then "Bran the Builder" creates/repairs the Wall. The only difference between the loops would be that Bran doesn't have to have a father that gets beheaded, etc, but all roads of the story will always lead to him becoming the NK...like there were many Brans and there will be many more...imagine that xD I think it's way more satisfying than the end we got, at least for me...seeing the NK dead without explanation about what he wants or why he has these powers similar to Bran's or what is the connection between him and the 3 eyed raven...it was anticlimactic.

So Bloodraven have being perpetrating forbidden magic against Bran all along. Among the free folk have said that entering the mind of a human is the worst thing a warg can do. Bloodraven was manipulating Brann all the time by entering his mind through dreams since the day he fell off the tower. Bran, Catelyn, Patchface, Beric Dondarrion and few others are "touched" by the gods. They "died" and come back to "life" but they became somewhat... twisted. They were not the same. Maybe Bran´s twisted psyche didn´t caught much attention because he was alive and he was still just a boy. But the damage was there, his increasing sadness would morph into a severe depression. Bloodraven entered into Bran´s mind as much he did into his wolf. And Brann entered into Hodor´s mind with the consequences that we all ready know. So Bran´s damage was cause not by the fall, but by Bloodraven skinchanging magic. Bloodraven is affecting and tormenting people minds without knowing it. Or does he consciously doing it? When Bran meets Bloodraven for the first time, he saw a corpse. Meera, who already protects and believe his brother´s mission, is definitely uncomfortable all the time they are with Bloodraven. she felt something was fishy... Maybe Jojen also was manipulated too. In the books, Jojen was sacrificed as a part of a dark ritual (blood magic). One day, Bran didn´t know where Jojen or Meera were. Some days later, Bran drank Jojen´s blood (without know it) that the "children of the forest" gave him. And here is the thing... Crows are all liars. The tree-eyed raven always promised Bran that he will eventually fly, but for me this is a trap. Maybe he who claims to be Bloodraven isn´t the real Bloodraven. The real Bloodraven died all those years ago. Maybe the thing that Jojen and Bran watch and listen its just a completely different entity, a more darker, and hungry deity. Maybe the real Bloodraven was seduced by this entity and possess him since then. For me, whoever Bloodraven is, its lurking and feeding himself with the blood of powerful greenseer or skinchanger individuals. After all, when the four of them are inside the cave, they notice hundreds of bones on the floor... And when Bloodreaven talks, is only the dark entity that use the memories and powers of the real Bloodreaven. The weirwood tree is a parasite and a host of the corpse of Bloodreaven. The weirwood is using a magical body to make itself "present" in the world of men. The weirwood tree is memory preserved. But for nature be able to "talk" it would need to possess a corpse who can be able to warg into animals and men. This entity is feeding itself of powerful greenseers all along, so it can comunicate with humans on their own tongue. Through Bran´s blood runs the blood of the first men, magical greensight, skinchanger powers and he has royal blood in his veins, so he is a valuable asset for Bloodraven. For me, this dark entity (not bloodraven) wants to taste Bran´s blood. This entity that possess Bloodraven´s corpse bait Jojen, telling him to fulfill an important quest by freeing the chained wolf. And with Bran is happening the same thing. "Bloodraven" is showing Bran all this dreams and illusions of the past (memories of the weirwood tree and other greenseers have witness) to keep him engaged and making feel that he is also some kind of a piece of puzzle that will complete a higher destiny (helping Jon to be azor ahai). But in reality the entity is feeding Bran like a pig that eventually will be sacrificed too. Maybe, this entity is really the great other that Melisandre saw in her flames as the enemy, but she could only see the body in which this entity is using at the moment (Bloodraven). When the time comes, she will see Bran's face. Maybe this dark deity can summon or call wights at will. Maybe that´s why Bloodreaven corpse is reanimated and can talk and move and so on, but that makes him no different from a wight. A parasite that reanimates corpses is common in fungi and insect world. The insects body move but they are not alive at all. And in this world, people have been resurrected by powers of the gods: patchface by the drowned god, beric dondarrion by the lord of light, wights by the great other... But they are not the same, they are less of a human, they are not alive, they are being controlled without knowing it. Maybe all of this gods are the same god, the god with many names or many faces... 😏 Fungi and trees comunicate through its branches with other trees and fungis, so a forest acts like a hive mind. Maybe in the books we will get something similar to what we saw on television. While Bran is diving (not flying) in this ocean of illusions of prophecies, ancient memories of many dead greenseers, dead wargs and basically being brainwash, Meera will found out the truth by her own... and after she finds out that all of this was "Bloodravens" trap since the beginning, this dark god will summon again wights thath were buried around to reach the cave and capture Bran. Bran will hear the voice of Meera: enter Hodor. And then, after they escaped, we will see how Bloodreaven corpse will turn "off" and become inanimated. After they are safe, Meera will tell Bran what she discovered when he was "diving" in memories. That she saw the body of his brother, murdered by the children of the forest. And Bran also would tell Meera what he saw before he heard her voice. Bran would tell her that they must go North. Keep going North. Reaching the land of ever winter. His purpose will be to confront and defeat this dark entity that after this will hunt him over and over again? What did Bran saw? Maybe Meera and Bran are George R.R. Martin´s Frodo an Sam´s journey to Mordor. Meera will die eventually and this will be the end of humanity within Bran. Maybe when Bran is finally alone, he will be seduced by the great other plan: Ultimately, Bran is going to be chained to this fate, he will summon and control all the wights at will to destroy or "purify" Westeros. Because he and the great other have seen what humanity is costing to world. Bran will accept the call and warg into many corpses, he will become a god like figure himself, with a hive mind that will feed from the blood of the many that will fall in this purge, and this mental state, Bran will not know when to stop. He will enter in a "sleep" mode, purifying westeros perpetually, unable to wake up. He is going to become and ice "mad" king sitting in his throne in the lands of always winter, where the "hero", maybe Jon Snow (i don´t know) will have to stab him and, check mate him and ending the long night. After all, Melissandre will resurrect Jon, Jon will be touched by the gods as well, and will remember his visions while he was dead or when he is alive again, he will have dreams of the future to come, the dead will rise and winter will come. Jon snow and Melissandre will have to defeat this great other whithout knowing it's Bran. Maybe we get somewhat like in the show, Jon with a group of warriors going on a quest north to the wall, were they will fight wights to reach Brans. Many will die, until the point they finally reach Brans throne room in the lands of ever winter, custody by white walkers Because it has passed many years, Jon won't recognize Bran at first glance, but when he is infront of him, he will be shock by the truth. By killing Bran, Jon will kill his Stark side of his bloodline family. Bran will open his eyes from his dream or nightmare, just to seeing Jon again after all this time, like he told him he would do when he was in coma in the first season, Jon promised to be there when Bran wake up. Bran will die in jons arms happily. Jons hair will turn grey and white (his Targaryen bloodline) and it would be a symbolic metaphor of him growing old, "dying" one last time after the painful thing he had to do. Jon will never return south to the wall. Just like many others before him, they will talk about him not knowing what happened to him. The long night is over and westeros can start to dream for the summer that will come.

Great edit. That gave those scenes from season 8 a lot more meaning and emotional impact. Well done!

My theory was that Bran or at least a part of him was the Night King after he stood in the past for too long. Which the three eyed raven warned him about. He then tries to go after himself to stop everything. And he told the mad King "to burn them all", meaning the dead but caused the King who didnt understand it to turn mad. A truly dramatic loop with the bittersweet ending being Jon having to kill Bran to end it. But instead we did get D&Ds wet farts...

I had theorized that Bran was the night king in the following: First, it was said that if you continue traveling to the past you could get stuck there. Second, I thought the white walkers would blast through westeros so easily bran felt the way to stop them would be to go to the past and prevent the children of the forest from making them. However, he wargs into the man that they ultimately turn into the night king and he gets stuck in the body. His powers alter in that instead of warging into living beings, he wargs into dead ones. Hence the change in eyes that the dead have being similar to the change in eyes when he wargs. It also explains why the night king goes after bran; he's trying to stop his own existence.

He basically became the weirwoods themselves. Like the Children of the Forest made the Night King as a weapon and then basically the entirety of their magic got the throne. Brilliant, really. The Old Gods will now be the state religion and a wierwood will be planted in every holdfast and castle. Prisoners (and resistant members of the Faith) will be executed at these weirwoods to further feed their power.

@@jelmervd2l I agree with this, it probably just comes with being all knowing. It kinda reminds me of doctor strange from the time he found out the 1 way they win, and the final fight of end game. His moves are more calculated - he doesn’t do much fighting at all. One point, he stops fighting to stop water from flooding the battleground, even though he’s one of the stronger avengers and could contribute a lot in battle. He also doesn’t get frustrated alongside the others when they failed to get the gauntlet off thanos before the snap. I think it’s the stoicism that comes with extreme knowledge. Also similar to monks full of wisdom

Rather than losing humanity and compassion, he’s likely jaded from knowing all and having been through what he has. The only things that really made him show some kind of visible reaction were the creation of the night king and I think learning that Jon snow was actually Aegon Targaryen

I just think the 3 eyed raven was the villain and let things happen so that it’s collective consciousness would be king. It lured Bran through vision to the tree so that it wouldn’t be killed by the Night King and could live on, When Jon knees to Bran you realize who the real villain was.

I'm not sure why people say that Season 8 sucks, it was far better than any of seasons 1 to 4. I agree that the final episode was too slow, but wasn't really bad; it was appropriate to slow down after all the violence of all seasons since there was nobody else to fight.

I always say that the last scene of Bran being wheeled out of the Small Council meeting should have showed his eyes turn blue right at the very end as the camera zoomed in on his face (I was expecting it when I saw the show)…. That would have been all I needed to make the ending worthwhile to me.

One of the best edits I've watched to date!

I believe Bran died when he met the Three Eyed Raven (formerly Brynden Rivers, a Targaryen bastard) because he BECAME the Three Eyed Raven. This is exactly what the Three Eyed Raven told Bran when he said, "You will fly." I believe somehow Bran/Brynden was able to communicate with the Night King, and he controlled most of the events leading up to him becoming king in the end. He quite literally exclaims, "Why do you think I came all this way?" when he is asked if he will take the throne in the end. To do this he had to defeat Cersei, Dany, the Night King, and even Jon, and he played them against each other successfully. The look that the Night King gives to Bran the moment before Arya kills him is one of confusion and betrayal. This leads me to wonder who Melisandre truly is/was, could she be Shiera Seastar? She is clearly aiding him in the process.

imagine if this theory had came true,it would be cool when bran gets his heart plunged by the dagger and his eyes turn blue(in my own headcanon he is actually the man himself tied to the tree,he didn't warg into the man and get trapped he was that man)it zooms to bran's eye then it zooms back out revealing the night king's face in the present.

TBF the older Bran has a strong likeness to The Night King, in facial shape.

Actually... Daenarys losing her mind in a natural way is a lot better. It's honestly one of the few things in the last season which actually made any sense.

I don't think that Bran was the Night King but I definitely think that he was responsible for the madness of Aerys Targaryian. Still a better plot that what those two jackoffs wrote for season 8.

Nahh man he loved a wildling he's going back to the wildlands he never wanted to be king he never was gonna be king he's the peoples champ, the reunion with ghost is bittersweet they are both broken and wounded but they finally get to rest jon had enough war for 10 lifetimes he was always close to his uncle Benji who was a scout for the nights watch he looked up to him I think it is what Jon wanted

I was so convinced Bran was going to turn out to be Night King. Even in the early seasons the three eyed raven told Bran if he goes a long back in time he may get lost there. I was so convinced that Bran would try to track the history of Night King only to eventually get stuck with the Children and getting turned. Even in this video you hear the three eyed raven saying "It us beautiful beneath the sea, but if you stay too long ender you'd drown". But what we got was so disappointing.

I just release that the night king is actually a Brandon and a stark. When bran said I remember what it felt like to be Brandon stark, the video show the night king walking, looking miserable. Brandon of old was one like Bran of now ( a three eye raven king, who was turned into a weapon because of his great ability of forseen the future, present and pass. He was the only one to protect the greenseer but they didn't know he would become evil after piercing him with the black stone. The greenseer that die in the show was also a brandon. I believe that the night king mission was to kill all the future greenseer called Brandon because he didn't want the repeating cycle or he needed to take back his place as a king. Brandon Stark therefore saw the future, pass and present, he knew dam well that he would become a king. (Old Nan said, "All ravens are liar"). Brandon needed to rewrite the past as far as before the Targaryen came to westoros. That is why Dany had to die and Jon had to go beyond the wall and the North an independent state as before. The cycle will end with him because he will not be able to father any children. Remember the last greenseer was a bastard but who was his mother/father? Was it a stark lineage? That blade (dagger) was forge from morning to kill all greenseer/Brandon/ white walker. My question is why Brandon asking about drogon? Furthermore, why Drogon didn't killed Jon? Is the blade in Danny's heart a weapon against the greenseer? Danny's heart is a living dragon because she has the power to hatch the eggs of dragon. Furthermore, she was sacrifice by her lover to bring peace to people and kill the old night king. as in the begin ( azurie sacrifice his love to force a weapon to defeat the old night walker). Hence, Brandon need to know where Drogon takes Danny's body for the Dagger in her heart because its the weapon that can kill a night king if the past should every repeat in the future or he fail to rewrite the past.

WOWOWOWOWOWOW, What an edit showing who the real evil(night king) was, I always did wonder why he didn't try to change any of the future because his evil mind was loving the way it was going, he truly became evil and became the defacto behind the scenes night King!! You showed that the nite king and John realized it in the end. Great work and the next sequel should be showing that fact with brown trying to destroy all the kingdoms in secret by rebuilding the Dead behind the scenes while being king!! Wow what's good writers that would be an amazing sequel

I haven't read the books, but watched the show a few times. I felt that everything came full circle in the end. The only difference was the white walkers were no more.

Bran tries to figure out how to kill the night king, but he stays too long in the past and is that man that gets tied to the tree, so he becomes the night king. He cant warg back to the present to the night king (basically bran) is now evil and tries to kill present bran who cant warg back to completely eliminate him ever returning and bringing the secret of defeating himself. He succeeds in killing bran, but then Jon snow arrives and sees him killing bran. They have an epic duel and Arya join in and then Jon delivers the killing blow and they defeat the night king (evil bran who couldnt come back) This is how to make the bran powers useful and complex and make a satisfying ending for the night king. But thats just my opinion

If Bran is the night king why doesn’t he just not attack at all.

Yess may be Because, in earlier episodes when sam killed one, the crows shouted over the trees...it were signs...and than lastly bran was shown to use them...may be it is like this

The music in that scene was fire.

It's a fact that when Night King touches someone, that thing turns into a walker or joins his dead army. The Night King has touched bran already but he was alive when the night king touched him. So, what if the Night King is able to transfer himself into bran after his death by Arya stark? It is totally possible. Bran had no desire to be a lord (of winterfell) let alone be a King of the 7 kingdoms (now 6). So I think in the ending of S8, some part of Night king is still inside of Bran. Bran purposefully took control of all the kingdoms by being a King and it will not be long before his eyes will turn cold blue and he'll just start murdering the people of king's landing to build his dead army again. Jon Snow(Aegon) who is king beyond the wall, will have to return to the south to defeat/kill his own brother Bran who is not bran anymore but the Night King himself!! At the end, John snow will be the Prince who was promised by bringing the final dawn and peace. What an epic ending it will be to this legendary fantasy series and it'll also coverup/overshadow the mistakes of season 8. Just waiting for the SNOW series!❤️

That is not a fact. When the night king touched a baby on the forehead it turned, but that’s the only time we see a white walker being created. I think it needs to be specifically a male baby to be turned. When he touched bran he left his mark on him and could then enter the 3 eyed raven’s hideout.

Literally he can warg anyone but never used that power for common good😂

Yeah that could be another ending that everything that happened in season 8 , dany burning the city, tyrion suggesting brans name.. It was possible bran warged and did everything to get the throne. But the writers just wasted the show

I read something somewhere that said Bran can't be the night king cause he "Can't change the past" Except he totally could! He's the reason Hodor can only say "Hodor" When he called out to his father, Ned Stark HEARD HIM Maybe the story was leaning into the whole time paradox thing of "those who change the past end up creating the very things they sought to change" but he had an effect! Why couldn't there have been an arc where Bran after realizing that Ned heard him tries to go back into the past to change events and ends up causing everything wrong with westeros at the start of the series. And maybe this realization that he is indirectly causing the tragic events in the series/is unable to stop them from happening leads him to becoming the emotionless husk we see in the last 2 seasons. The knowledge that everything is inevitable makes him emotionally give up. And through this process he forms more of a connection with the Night King, the night king constantly being there watching Bran as he tries to change the past, silently. Then Bran starts going into the past and causing harm intentionally, everything is inevitable, he will make sure of it. Finally culminating in Bran encouraging Jaime to push his younger self out the window, setting the events of the series into motion. And this event, Bran taking the step to "kill himself" reveals that he is the night king.

I thought he was the life force of the night king. The knight King wanted to capture Bran to keep him alive and not tell the secrets of his army. I thought in season 8 the night king would be defeated by Jon Snow sacrificing Bran after Bran finally figured out that their life forces were connected.

Ohh my god!!!! Imagine another season popping out of this concepts.....

For the Jon Snow prequel, I’m really hoping The Night King and Bran being the same person comes to fruition. Maybe it could happen by The Night King imprinting part of his spirit in Bran, like a Horcrux, when Bran warged into the past to see his creation?

Imagine if they come up with another sequel, where night king brandon rules kings landing, and john snow with his (dragons+wildlings) alongwith arya(noone army+ some other creatures she found in west of westros) and sansa being queen in north attack kingslanding. This would be epic.

He was the sole ruler behind. After his succesful plan gave blossoms, he became a the real king. No other king deserved to be the one than him!

Never have I seen that show that spent seven and almost 8 seasons giving fans everything they wanted in a revenge drama type piece. And then in the final episode they do everything that fans didn’t want

Jon looks at Bran the same way Bran looked at the Night King.

You can clearly see the face of the man becoming the night king not beeing Bran at all. Plus the night king dies because of overconfidence, which is a human flaw, while Bran has less emotion than a wight after he becomes the 3 eyed raven. They were just lucky that the guy Leaf turned into the night king probably was an ancestor of hodor. If he had been an ancestor of Lyanna Mormont instead he would have used Bran as a towel for his feet

Bran isn’t the Night King, he’s potentially the “other” that is the enemy of the lord of light but regardless the “three eyed raven” has been the real baddie all along. The night king was made to stop him and was like a “nuclear option” as the NK would do whatever it took to get to Bran. Even killing every person in Westeros if necessary. The prequel series they’re currently making will end with some confirmation or at least some big hint to this theory with another prequel series to come afterwards showing three eyed ravens origin, real powers and master plan. THEN there will be a sequel to GOT to come after where Bran has to be taken down, probably by Jon as he’s the the lord of lights “chosen” - the prince that was promised - still a prince as he never took the throne and Bran thinks he’s no longer a threat because he’s gone into exile.

I Like to think that bran is the main antagonist of the series, dude ended an empire, became a king, I think all possible enemies have been slain. All that with just him watching, possibly knowing about it all while just being creepy. Dude is a legend

Bran was not the night king but being the 3 eyed raven, he had visions to do everything he had to do in order to have the perfect future for him.

I think that the story of night king isn't over. There is more to come which will satisfy everyone

I'm not sure why people say that Season 8 sucks, it was far better than any of seasons 1 to 4. I agree that the final episode was too slow, but wasn't really bad; it was appropriate to slow down after all the violence of all seasons since there was nobody else to fight.

I think Bran is the night king. He was pushed out of his body by the 3 eyed raven into that man leaf was stabbing with Dragonglass. Trapped there until he could amass an army to kill the 3 eyed raven. Thats why he was chasing Brans (his) body to free himself. Think of it. Your still connected to yourself and the only way to be free is to Kill them all. Or lol kill your body. Because the 3 eyed raven keeps going back in time stopping you. He always looked at Jon funny.

I heard from some source that the original scripted ending for GOT is Bran become Night King, and take the white walker back to north and settled in a long sleep to be awaken. The gameboard is reset, waiting for the next Game of Thorns.
