  • @sammy1552

    That's a bit extreme. The problem with the MPAA is that they don't understand movies sometimes. If the MPAA didn't exist then movies/tv shows would have to cater to parents screaming about the violent content; just like that time where people complained about the gore on THE WALKING DEAD for being TOO GORY and that it was inappropriate for kids. Also, if ratings didn't exist then you would see tons of parents bringing their babies and toddlers to a horror movie.

    @@sammy1552 OK, they can suggest a rating, but cannot order a studio to cut anything. (TBH, I don't believe they have any legal authority to do that anyway. The problem is most studios will just go along with it rather than telling the MPAA to eff off)

  • @sammy1552

    @sammy1552

    @@the_once-and-future_king. Thank goodness for directors who plan ahead. Some of them know the MPAA will restrict the violence or sex so they just save it for home media releases. Example: Adam Marcus (the guy who made Jason goes to Hell) knew the MPAA was going to butcher the gore so he planned ahead and saved that footage for an unrated release on dvd. One more thing, one good thing that came out of the MPAA is Rob Zombie’s Halloween remake had the prison brawl with the cops in the theatrical cut instead of the needless rape scene in the director’s cut.

    Aw nuts, I was kinda hoping this one would be part of your next Canuxploitation-a-thon, but that's alright~ This one really never got its due for a host of reasons, mostly the MPAA and general obscurity, and that's a shame, the BV Killer is really memorable and the movie's never boring in its side stuff. Yeah, it's a by-the-book slasher and all, but like you said, the setting and characters are nice and organic, gives you a weird feeling of being there during the holidays. The humor's a bit distracting at times, but I'ma hold out hope for BV Killer to wind up on Dead By Daylight all the same.
