    I love the idea of a slasher film where the victims basically kill themselves through pure stupidity and the 'killer' gets increasingly pissed off about that. Final scene, the 'killer' throws down their unused machete and walks off in disgust.

    So let me clear what happens in the ending. Shortly after Marty kills Carol in the shower, he suffers a hallucination where Carol and all his other tormentors terrorize him as ghosts of sorts. This causes his him to pass out and he wakes up in the hospital, where he switches places with the nurse (rather quickly, might I add) before stabbing the doctor in the eye with an air-filled syringe.

    Interesting fact; this movie was shot in the UK, filmed at St Marylebone Grammar School in Westminster, London, which had closed in 1981 and thus allowed the production the chance to work uninterrupted. The exterior shots of the school were shot at Holloway (abandoned) Sanatorium in Surrey. Many of the cast were British performers who adopted American accents due to the story being set in the United States.

    Gee, a horror movie about an unpopular teen who is humiliated in the shower, blamed for the detention the tormenters are given, and then he kills them off in all sorts of over the top creative ways. • @michaelccozens

    @michaelccozens

    2 жыл бұрын

    It's a very good point, though you can make almost any two things sound similar if you get general enough. Also, the kids in Carrie were markedly less cruel at first; they only piled-on when Carrie was freaking out, which is terrible, but still. These kids actively sought Marty out, when he'd apparently done absolutely nothing to draw their attention in the first place. They were punishing him for existing. I know you're joking, but I just can't get over how clownishly-cruel that opening bit was. Like, they planned for several different stages of "prank", and created gadgets. How long did they take planning this shit? Isn't that kinda too smart for them? Wouldn't it be more something that maybe Marty could do? It'd be funny if it were nerds pulling it off against jocks that had bullied them, because, aside from the swirlie at the end, it was all brains over brawn. It's just a real weird movie. So many bizarre choices.

    Didn't mention that this is a British B horror movie pretending that it was set in the USA even though no one can do an American accent convincingly and it's obviously all filmed in the UK. Still, the UK still had a legitimate B movie industry then which it sadly doesn't have any more (for shame!) Even the attempt to kick start Hammer again failed. But these last gasp of Brit-Horror movies are weird but effective in their own way so nice you did one.

    I'd never even heard of the "April Fool's Day ends at noon" rule before this review. After 23 years of my life spending the entire April 1st with my guard raised against stupid jokes, it seems like such a rip off to hear that it's supposed to end right when most teens and young adults are fully waking up. But I guess that's the spirit of April Fool's Day in a nutshell, isn't it? It's a day to celebrate the playful trickster in all of us, and the greatest joke of all is that most of us will be too drowsy to indulge it.

IT's only now thanks to you and other reviewers that I have re-discovered her. Another favourite actress of mine is a more well-known one from the nineties - Angelica Bridges. You might remember her from Mortal Kombat Konquest, where she plays a sexy shape-shifting witch, or from Mystery Men, . Baywatch, Black Scorpion and she even played Red Sonja - on the Conan TV series. Also, LOL, was the caretaker/janitor's skull made out of jello? My kids used to love the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic series. And I have to say, it's a quality show. Not just for production value, but the voice acting is top-notch. The scripts are well done. And the messages are good as well. Not cheesy in-your-face morals like other kids' shows. And hell, it's guest-starred a bunch of people. John DeLancie (Q from Star Trek) and Weird Al both have voiced characters, so it's gotten attention. And adding to what Brandon said, the look of the ponies in the '80s was horrifying. Yes, they look more like real horses, but they're just off enough to be terrifying.

Did he think the brick came through the window from the outside while somehow pushing the broken glass behind it, so it was also outside? And why is this gym full of loose bricks? Is that what they use for dodgeball at this school or something? Widespread concussions would explain a lot. Edit: Looking closely at 5:51, I'm afraid you're wrong. He clearly is holding only one brick in one hand when he makes the throw.

    I watched this is movie when I was a kid. I thought it was a interesting slasher film with a unique premise. The kills, to me at least, were disturbingly inventive. This was before I had watched other more famous slasher franchises. What threw this movie off for me was the ending...damn it, the ending was nonsensical to me. I lite- rally was scratching my head. Overall, it was an enjoyable if somewhat cheesy flick.

    At 5:18 why does the one bully have a letter jacket with a big T when it is called Doddsville County High School? I used to work at a local sports store that sold letter jackets and the patches when I was in high school. It should have a D for Doddsville. My assumption is confirmed at 15:23 when Marty has one in the poster. You can also see he has a different jacket throughout the movie.

    I love pranks, I truly do. The best one I've ever pulled was one I set in motion when I was eight against the two of my sisters that picked on me the most. I turned them on each other by stealing stuff from one of their rooms and framing the other for it for a while. This kicked off a little prank war that I occasionally assisted one of them with at certain points to get it to escalate at the rate I wanted it to. When it escalated to a point I was satisfied with I made my move. I tried the "Dip someone's hand in a warm bowl of water" trick on the younger of the two and the results were better than I could've possibly imagined. For you see, a certain... *friend* visited her for the first time that night. I also slept in the room right next to hers so I knew _exactly_ when she woke up the following morning. She was hysterical because she thought she was dying, and the best part was no one even suspected I was the culprit. The timing legitimately lined that perfectly. I never even bothered with pranks after that, because how could I possibly outdo such a feat? Long story short: All of her sheets were ruined, my older sister took the blame for it, my younger sister was traumatized by it, and I got away scot-free. P.S: When I say they picked on me, I mean they wrapped me up in a blanket and threw me down the stairs head first, locked me outside even during thunderstorms, and intentionally destroyed my stuff.

    Not ashamed to admit that I love this stupid movie, lol. My mom rented it in the late 80's and I remember being scared shit less watching it with her and my siblings. I was no older than 6 or 7. We rented lots of cheesy slasher films during that time but for whatever reason i never forgot the title, plot or the cover art of the vhs with the skeleton holding the apple. Fast forward to the late 90s, I was a teen looking for scary movies to rent with my best friend for a sleepover. I spotted Slaughter high in blockbuster and rented it, raving to my friend about how scary it was, not thinking that what may be frightening at age 7, just might be laughably bad at age 14! We laughed our asses off at how cheesy and 80's it was, and I felt so embarrassed for hyping it up as scary to my friend. Fast forward to 2011 and something reminded me of it again and I looked everywhere for it on DVD to no avail. Finally just found a site to watch it online and I guess it's the nostalgia, but I actually really enjoyed it the 3rd time. Sure it's ridiculous, has gaping plot holes and bad dialoge but definitely has a spot in my 80s kid heart! Sadly, the actor who played Marty died of suicide before the film was even released. For over a decade now I've been following a memorial page on fb for him, if im not mistaken, it's run by someone who knew him personally.
