During a HPDE3/4 session, my 9th gen 2015 Honda Civic SI (FB6) had a brake failure at CMP (Carolina Motorsports Park) that ended my weekend early. This was a complete failure and upon inspection, the caliper seal gave out. I had just changed the pads and fluid two weeks prior before VIR due to excess pad wear which was strange because I only had 3 track weekends on them. I should have been more suspicious...
My conclusion is the calipers have been overheating and the seals have been slowly failing. Even though grease was applied to the pins, my guess is the calipers were still sticking due to the square seal, which eventually dragged a pad, overheated, and melted the seal allowing all the brake fluid to come out.
Looks like car will be down until 2024 - at least for track days
