"Cancer has completely ripped through the family." Susan and Sam had everything; a happy family, with two beautiful children. In 2011 their world turned upside down when their youngest son Hamish was diagnosed with cancer. After multiple treatments, Hamish very sadly passed away in February 2017. He was aged just eight. After Hamish passed away, Susan, Sam and Lily continued to raise awareness to help others affected by cancer. But in October of the same year, Susan, who had been treated for breast cancer before, discovered that it had returned and was incurable. Susan very sadly passed away in May 2020, having bravely shared her family’s story for Stand Up To Cancer. Sam said: “I take consolation in believing that Hamish has now been reunited with his Mummy to send us rainbows together forever.” We Stand Up To Cancer in memory of Susan and Hamish, with her husband, Sam and their daughter, Lily.

My heart bleeds for this family. I have a 3 yr old son and can only imagine the pain they are experiencing through losing him and to lose such a beautiful mother to Hamish too. RIP beautiful angels.

This is truly sad, although they have sadly passed, at least their suffering is over. I pray their family and other loved ones are doing better and can find a way to overcome this tragic circumstance and live a king healthy life. Life is so short 😞😞REST IN PEACE to the two young souls 🌈🙏❤️

I lost my amazing brave sister in April 6th 2021 at 9.05pm. She was 48. And she always said she can't believe children go through it too. She had breast cancer that spread to her brain. We need a cure for this disease. It's taken my mum, my mums sister and now my sister. I send my love and hugs to anyone who is affected from cancers. Which is pretty everyone. Look after each other x

It seems like genetics in the family. There is a genetics test which will tell that are you at higher risk of cancer because its in your family history or its not related to it. You also take care and be alert. If you feel something off, check immediately . Have a regular health checkups.

This story makes me incredibly sad for the family. No one should have to go thru this twice. RIP Hamish and Susan. Some day you will be reunited with your whole family.

It's so not fair that a beautiful little boy and then his dear mum have passed away 😢 but they are together and are at peace so,sorry for, the family left behind xx

I found out I had cancer last year (2020) it’s honestly the worst feeling. I’m lucky that I have not needed treatment. This is a devastating story I wish all my best and whole hearted love to the dad and daughter. What a horrible few years it has been for you all. Rest In Peace angels

The moment they started to talk about him in the past tense I started to cry and could not stop through the entire video. What had his parents and sister to experience? And how can they ever heal? I am desperate seeing them so devastated. May you Rest In Peace little Hamish and lovely Susan.

3 or 4 minutes just isn't enough to do these families justice. Such beautiful souls that passed the test of this life and have moved on to an eternity of a loving and pain-free existence. It doesn't make it any easier on those left behind though and we suffer on. I pray for peace and understanding for this caring man and his beautiful daughter.

Literally what the hell? Why do people have to go through this??? I cannot even begin to think about the agony. First, the entire family going through any of this. Then, mom, watching her baby pass away before losing her own life? THEN dad and sis watching BOTH of their loved ones pass? Jesus, please return. This is tooooooo much for anyone to have to bear.
