Lyrics:
Sittin' on a bench at West Town Mall
He sat down in his overalls and asked me
You waitin' on a woman
I nodded yeah and said how 'bout you
He said son since nineteen fifty-two I've been
Waitin' on a woman
When I picked her up for our first date
I told her I'd be there at eight
And she came down the stairs at eight-thirty
She said I'm sorry that I took so long
Didn't like a thing that I tried on
But let me tell you son she sure looked pretty
Yeah she'll take her time but I don't mind
Waitin' on a woman

My mom finally stopped making my dad wait. He passed in 1999 and she finally joined him last year. He was sitting on that bench for 23 years. I miss them both but I am happy they are together again. They were the love of each other's lives.

I want more than anything to be with him......but I know I've got to wait....I'm not done here yet, and I don't know why my kids are being so cruel, but they are....plz if you're reading this and you've had a falling out with your mom due to your dad's death (they didn't get enough inheritance.....each got 30K....so their idea was to withhold the grandkids. I have grandkids I've never held.....) PLZ call her up and ask to see her. There's nothing worth being that mean. (and yes, I've msg my kids, and been ignored.)

This was my mom and dads song. He’s waiting on his bench. Has been since 2014. My daughter is named paisley after brad paisley, he is who I grew up on. The last concert I went to with my dad. The first concert I went to with my mom. My dad would turn this song up and they laugh with each other because he was always waiting on his women. His song he didn’t have to be played at his funeral. Because he took in my moms son and adopted us, saved us from a horrible situation. We miss him everyday and brad paisley still continues to be a part of our family with his songs. Especially this one.

This song hits so close to home. On our first date, we agreed to meet at a restaurant at 7:30, but she didn't arrive until after 8:30. I waited for her and that was 6 months ago today. We're still together and completely in love with each other. My advice, always wait for a woman, it'll change your life! If you're reading this Jessika, I love you, and I'll always find me a bench, because I don't mind waiting for you!

It's because the country music of today is about real life. We wouldn't have music like this now if it wasn't for "Southern Rock" bands from the mid 70s n early 80s. Skynard, Creedance, Charlie Daniels Band and, my personal favorite, ZZ Top, even though they were more of a rock/blues band, did a lot back then to give us todays country music. Hank Jr. Waylon, Chris and Johnny as well as many more can also take credit for todays country music

I had a different version of this song previously, but THIS one is now my absolute favorite!! The combination of the two of them makes it so much more special. My dad was in the Air Force, and I was forever waiting for him to come home. His voice and Southern drawl was so very much like Andy Griffith's that I watched every show he was in and dreamed that HE was my dad, and I could see him on TV. Mom and Dad are together now ... In Heaven, with Andy. And now ... I'm waiting on MY man ... to come home ... Thanks both of you, for the perfect song ...

Paisley is definitely very talented, but I think that alot of people are driven away by the autotune, and production of his songs. People loved (and still love) old country for its imperfections, but modern day country tries too hard to cookie-cutter perfect; that's why there isn't too much variety in modern country, at least when its compared to the variety in old country. Hope that makes sense.

My fiancé and I would listen to this all the time and laugh because I was always late! He passed away this past Christmas and its hard to know how I will navigate life without him as I am only 35 and he was 37. I know he will be waiting for me. That being said this also makes me think of his grandma, who will be 91 this year. We have lived with her the past 5 years not wanting her to be alone. She basically raised him his whole life. She lost her husband in 2019, her only son a year later in 2020, and now my fiancé, her grandson. All the men in her life are gone. But if I know anything I know all 3 of them are sitting on a bench patiently waiting. Her husband and son will be ready to take her hand and show her the other side, and my hunny will give her a huge hug and sit back down to wait for me. They wouldnt expect anything less. Love this song ❤

I went to Mt.Airy this past weekend ( Feb 6th 2022) to the Andy Griffith museum, the white suit at the end of the video is on display. If you havnt been there, you need to go. It was a moving experience.

Andy Griffith was the sweetest man ever on earth it’s too bad he’s going to rest in peace

  • @HattieDame
    @HattieDame6 ай бұрын

My sweet Daddy is in Heaven waiting on me, not my mom. That may sound weird or wrong but he told me before he died that he had most of his people already waiting for him in Heaven, including my little boy who never saw this earth. He said that I'm his one good thing, his reason for being alive, and that while he doesn't ever want me to hurry up to meet him, he'll be waiting to take me home when God calls me. That has stuck deep in my heart and soul for so long. He died in March 2021, and I've not been the same since. I love my husband and I'm thankful for him... God knows I'm thankful.... I'd be long long gone if not for his love and strength. But I'm surely changed by the loss of my Daddy, my best friend until I met my husband and still a near tie of one then. And I know, despite him having loved my mother tenfold more than she loved him (though neither would ever say that), and I know he treasured his own parents and his brother who had gone many years before him.... I know that he loved me the most of any person he ever had in his life. He told me so and I believe him. He's waiting on me with my little boy, my grandparents, my uncle, and oh so many loved ones who I will be happy to see.... They're just all hoping I'll take my time, because they don't mind, waitin'.... on me.

I know that if my husband goes before me, he won't have to wait very long. I'll be not long behind him because I cannot live without him. He's my best friend, my first and only love, and the very strength with which I keep going. I'd step into death a million times over before him without a single thought, for I'd know he could go on living and I'd gladly wait. I cherish him so very much, more than I could ever express in words or actions. Life hasn't been easy with me and God knows I feel such shame in it, my health being such a burden on him. I pray that I can show him how truly beholden I am to him, and that I am grateful for such a strong man to help me shoulder this difficult life. I love you, my husband, my heart.

I had very short patience on waiting on someone. I learned to wait on her. We miss her every day with the three children we had together. We would not mind waiting on her now since she has passed away. from a blood clot in her lungs. I hope to be with her soon in heaven when our youngest grows up who is 13 now

I wish life was this easy and "old fashioned". Nobody waits for anyone anymore... not in a society where people would rather have fake relationships online. This song makes me think of how life was before computers and smart phones. I'm still waiting on that guy... not sure if he exists at this point but I'm waiting and waiting.

I am 59 next month and remember watching his show as a kid like it was yesterday! Wouldn't it be Miraculous if our children today were watching The Andy Griffith Show instead of being pounded moment after moment with what modern people consider to be news.
