@@BrandyD1777 thank you for the echo of the words my mother and father taught me from the Gospels and thier parents before them. Such a blessing to not only know the message but to adapt to life and live that humble and kind vision. Mr. McGraw did me a solid by hearing the lyrics and putting his melody with them after I shared them with him. Plus, he taught me that I have something to say which is worth the time it takes to listen and learn from. It is good to know that part of heaven is here with me and people like Tim help to spread such ideas I can't wait to record more music with Tim. He is definitely one of the good eggs. Lol. Love him. Sadly, for me, Tim gives credit to Lori McKenna for writing this song. I remember him mentioning her name when we created most of it, but I don't recall why. It was 33 years ago. But Tim did make a video saying she wrote it by herself. That is simply not true. The lyrics came from my personal up bringing and there is much more where Humble and Kind came from. I fear, however, telling the truth about this song might cost me the opportunity to work with him again. But, I live in the real world. Nobody will ever believe I wrote it. My own brothers tell me I am delusional and turn their backs on me or hang up the phone if mention it. Truth does that to liars, I guess. I'm just trying to be me, nice and kind and willing to help when it's appropriate to do so. Don't get me wrong. I'm not bragging. I'm not after money. But it would be nice to be able to say, i helped to write the song of the year for 2016 and have people close to me know i was telling the truth. Anyway ... Good for Mrs Lori and Tim for thier part in creating the art. God bless them kindly.

I chose this wonderful song to dance with my son at his wedding on April 29th, 2023. What more can a mother ask for but to remind our children of the important things in life, this song encompasses all of it. I pray they walk in love and light as they start their new journey in life. ❤

Dear readers. Always stay humble and kind indeed. This what happend to me a week ago I was told to wait a year for an operation, that would give me back my live.... I was so sad, but accepted it in my heart and asked the lord to keep me humbly waiting and giving me strength. Last night I just thought of googling songs that gives courage and this song I found. I cried so so much. And I prayed and again asked the Lord to help me. This morning I received a call from the Dr. She said"I've got good news. " You are being operated on Thursday. Thank you. Never thought the truth as to why I would drive Tim to Tennessee would be such a good response. My faith and love for Jesus, and those He loves has-been vindicated. So nice of Tim to have written my words down and actually use them in this song. Wisdom is an amazing gift.

This was my daughters favorite song . Aug 15 2019 she lost her life long battle with a mitochondrial disorder. 27 years old. Each time I hear this song I am reminded of her approach on life and will continue to follow the meaning of the song and honor her memory .

I love that line too, and I witnessed it just the other day. I work at a grocery store, and a woman came in with a handful of items, but she didn't have enough money. She tried two cards and they declined and she looked so distraught because the food was for her kids. She was frantically digging through her purse and moved to the side, as to not hold up the line. The man behind her saw and whispered to me, "does she have enough?" I shook my head, and he was like, "how much? I'll get it." and he payed for her order. The woman just looked at him baffled, as did I and started crying and thanking him profusely. When I rang him up for his stuff, I told him "thank you, that was really kind and I hope someone pays it forward to you one day" and he told me in a way that made me want to cry, "ma'am I've been paid overtime in my life. I've always had a hand held out for me and I'll do what I can to extend that hand to someone else." Those words have stayed with me, and if I ever write a book, I'll quote him lol idk if he meant it religiously or not, as I'm not religious myself but it gave me a little more hope for humanity. And this song always reminds me that there is good in the world, and that there are good people still willing to help those who need it most. Just thought I'd share hahaha

I was diagnosed with terminal cancer in February 2021. This song found me a couple of months after that, and it really touched a nerve in my heart ❤❤ Against all odds I beat the cancer, but this song still speaks to my heart, and I think it always will ❤❤

Lori McKenna wrote this song as a message to her five kids. We had the pleasure of having her sing it for us at a dinner in the rotunda of the Country Music Hall of Fame this summer . Meeting her afterwards she was exactly the type of person her song promotes, really sweet, humble and kind. Cute too.

I heard this song last evening sung by Andy Grammer and his dad on a tv show called We Are Family with It was the most beautiful song I have heard in a long time. Their rendition was simply sung without ending each sentence with an up note? not sure what that is called in music? I didn't like Tim Mcgraw rendition. Too twangy. If you liked this, you would fall in love with Andy Grammer singing it sweetly. Couldn't find it with him singing it. such beautiful sentiments that we could all sing.

Came across this song a few years back and I think it's one of the most beautiful songs I ever heard. It should be a universal anthem. Imagine a world in which people lived by these rules. It would be amazing...We can't change the world, but we can remind ourselves of such rules, though.

Joe, good for you! That was God working through you! As a former teacher for over 30 years, what made me feel proud was when a child I had worked with for years suddenly could read! I had a parent say she couldn't get her kid to sleep, reading under covers with a flashlight! To me that was wonderful news!

This song i heard on the radio one day and it made me star thinking... Why hold a grudge, why stay mad? The other day i went up to one of my old friends i have held a grudge on for a long time... I regret i ever held a grudge... and i was getting very depressed so i decided to confront her and apologize and now we do everything together! I left it to God all mighty and now i feel free!! i've listened to this song on repeat. I lost my papa a few weeks ago and his death is finally hitting me pretty hard. This song reminds me that he's still with us spiritually and even though i wont see him at all the family gatherings, that doesn't mean he isn't there. I'm not a believer of god but the night before he died, it was 2:40AM and I had a bad feeling in my gut. That night I got on my knees, put my hands together and said "If there really is someone out there, someone greater than this world, please. Please, I know he's suffering. If it's his time to go home, please take him. Nobody will blame you and he deserves to go back home. Let him have peace." This is still hard for me to comprehend but it's changed my thinking quite drastically

This was my niece, Amanda, who was taken from this world way too soon, at 21 years of age. Such a short life, but she radiated humility and kindness and love. We need so much of this virtue in this cruel, often brutal world we live. We need more “Amanda’s”. God bless each and every one who strives for a better way, the peace keepers among us, and the genuine, pure hearts of humility and kindness. Love you, Amanda. Think of you often, and miss you always. I see you, everywhere. A reminder of what once was. May your light shine.

I will be honest, I cry every time I hear this song because my dad is 72 and has dementia, and I'm helping my mom with him while I'm in graduate school currently. It cost you nothing to be humble and kind.

My dad has moments of understanding that come and go, but he's still hanging in there. I have to keep in mind that GOD doesn't make any mistakes, and remember to go to him for guidance when I get frustrated.

@@ChrisWhite-dt3dz exactly. I feel for your situation and remember the same frustrations with my father and his time here slowly came to its close. He had doubt about spiritual extension of life. His concern one day caused me to offer him proof of Gods existence by way of using the Priesthood which I hold, having been made a priest and teacher in the church when I was 13. I told him that day how the Daytona 500 would end that day and Dale Earnhardt was teaching Dale Jr how to race and stay up front. Where I was done speaking the Lord took over and told him the end of the next Daytona 500 a year later when Dale Earnhardt passed over. That moment was monumental for my dad. The last thing the Lord told him in that was about the World Trade Center going down. Those two events solidified dad's faith and seriously increased confidence in my own as well as the use of the Priesthood. I had rarely turned to the Lord for anything like that before, so for me, it's still kind of a big deal for me even now. Helps me to focus on being humble and kind more. Trust your faith driven notions if you come by them honestly and never give up on the commune with dad. It's worth the effort. Be good Chris. It will all work out. Balance will find a way.

My son got married yesterday! This song was our mother and son dance being a single mother this described exactly how I raised him. Thank you Mr. McGraw for such a precious song for us.

What if..... everyone's main goal in life was to stay humble and kind? What if there was not politician or political action committee to point fingers and make someone feel small or sad or ashamed? What if we saw each race as the human race. What if we smiled more and cried less? What if, when we climb our own mountain, we helped the next one in line and they helped another and so on? I was in a wreck a drunk meth head T boned me he was driving 100 miles a hour. I flew 150 feet from impact was in the hospital 7 months. My dad was an amazing man he raised us as a single father while serving in the United States Army . I had one heck of a dad and I miss him and dont think I will ever be the same. This is the song that my son chose for his wedding song for us to dance to. At first I did not understand why. About 1 min into the song I realized why. He hears his grandmother saying these words to him every time he hears this song. She passed away when he was almost 5 but still remembers and misses her. Lesson learned always stay humble and kind. 120 million seems like a lot

This song was played today at my baby brother's funeral, he was in school to be an EMT, he was only 18, wanted to follow in my footsteps but wasn't old enough to be a cop, rip Garrett Hale, your smile lit up a room, your fight is over, you can put your burden down and rest easy little brother

Just heard this song for the first time covered on "WE ARE FAMILY" and it brought tears to my eyes and opened my teenie tiny heart for a while. Thank you.

This was the last song I listened to with my mom before she passed June 24, 2016. The words are echoes of her lessons to me. I can't listen without a tear.

don't hate on the fresh talent Brittany B...I have great respect for ALL artists...even those that have not yet reached icon status. Look at the values that they portrayed in "Nothing Like You" and you will see the beginnings of that iconic status....music should not only touch your heart...but should display character...dan and shay do this....as do Tim and Reba...I respect your opinion, but also respectfully disagree with it.
