Brad Owen's WORST EVER Poker Session [Uncensored]

Ойын-сауық

Brad Owen is one of the most popular poker vloggers in the world, and he is part owner of The Lodge. But on this poker stream, he had a really bad session. He had good hands like Pocket Kings, but his opponents kept beating him.
Check out The Lodge Live schedule here: thelodgepokerclub.com/livestream
See The Lodge's cash game offerings and tournament schedule on thelodgepokerclub.com/
The Lodge Card Club is a members-only social club in Round Rock, Texas (just north of Austin). With 24/7 cash games and 2+ tournaments per day, The Lodge is THE place to play poker in central Texas. The Lodge Live is streamed every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday at 3PM CT.
You never know what you might see on The Lodge Live stream. You might see Pocket Aces vs Pocket Kings. You may see the nut straight lose to a full house after the board pairs on the river. There's a good chance you will see loads of straddles (and double straddles, and triple straddles). Players go all-in blind or play poker hands after looking at just one card. That's just what poker is like in Texas!
The stream regularly features Lodge owners Brad Owen, Andrew Neeme, and Doug Polk. Players like Rampage, Mariano, and Igor Kurganov has also graced The Lodge Live felt. And who knows? One day The Lodge may even host players like Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, Phil Ivey, or similarly huge poker names.

You can only beat variance for so long. Living in Vegas for the last 9 years, I've seen so many guys come and go. In the beginning, they beat variance for long stretches, consistently winning in cash/tourney's, they get a sense of arrogance like they can't be beat. Then they start losing, and losing, chasing the "dream", thinking their "skills" will make up for their losses. The frustration wells up in their souls, and it's written all over their faces. Day after day, they chase the "dream", transforming their lives into a constant state of misery and defeat. This town will eat you alive if you let it.

Variance had nothing to do with it really. He just played horribly on this stream. When you're playing at higher stakes than what you normally do, the mistakes are amplified that much more so in a game in which he shouldn't have really of been playing to begin with given his bankroll, it really really cost him.

  • @dereke8936

@@Ben-nd5dk this wasn't the only game. He's been chasing the big games with the sharks and running good can only last so long. There seems to be quite a few videos (and growing) of Brad getting it in drawing dead. It's fairly clear that he's forcing hands and telling himself he's just going to outplay everyone. I'm sure nobody worries too much with a Brad to their right.

The thing is run-bad often persists for so much longer than you might deem reasonable. Particularly when you've had the misfortune of benefiting from run-good. And you've saw fit to believe (inappropriately) that that could only have happened because of competent play. Nay, it happened because of 'professional, high-level, solver-reinforced, mad-skillz, dedicated' play. The game just laughs at such insolence. This same story just keeps repeating itself over and over. Losing 30k just obliterated months of work. Tons of hours at the table and away from it and zero compensation for any of it. Worse...negative cash flow given expenses. And now looking at what could be a multi-month span of run-bad. Far from ideal.

This is exactly how a lot of my poker sessions run. Often I'll have 2nd or 3rd nuts and the only hand I'm worried about is the nuts and that's exactly what my opponents seem to have. Just a couple of weeks ago I flopped a boat only to get rivered by quads. In the last 4-6 months I've lost with 2 or 3 boats, at least 1 A high flush and idk how many other flushes, an untold number of straights and at least a half dozen trips. This has been the worst run I've ever seen in poker and it really sucks that it's been happening to me. I'm sorry this happened to Brad but at least I can see I'm not the only person these types of hands happen to.

everything this guy does is the most ever - the biggest win ever - the biggest hand ever - the biggest buy in ever - the biggest loss ever etc etc - basically hes a bit of a sensationalist and a liar - that combined with his silly voice cadence and his overt narcissism marks him out as a bit of bell IMO

I disagree. It's entertaining and unique. This is the state of the world right now. It's not up to them to appease a small minority who don't like it. It's up to you to not tune in. Simple

@@canadiankid42 if he used it once or so each stream then I'm cool with it. Honestly the first time I heard each one I thought it was creative and fun...but then he kept using it over and over and over and it ruined it. Like if your favorite comedian told the same joke over and over and over in a few minutes. It starts off fun but gets old real quick. And yes I could stop watching the streams if it bothered me that bad, but I love watching poker and there's no harm in constructive feedback

Why the hell they let players play with a face mask on a stream? If they are afraid of covid, let them sit home!
