I want to talk about something a little deeper if you will. If you grew up in the 90s, these songs set a tone for how you approached your romantic relationships. The lyrics of these kinds of songs let you set a standard for yourself. The 90s were when guys used to have to beg to talk to you (Can We Talk, Tevin Campbell) and when ladies would talk about their dudes as if they were angels (Angel of Mine, Monica). Thus and such, we as adults now may be a little heavy handed with our romantic ideals, but at least we had STANDARDS. What the hell is the standard now? Do people know this actually existed at one point? Makes me sad for these young ones.

+TheOriginalRevolt I had to sign in to comment on this. Simply put, everything you said is spot on and couldn't be more true. If you had something to say in the 90s-early 2000s, we used music. I remember making mix cd's to let whoever I liked at the time listen to songs that reminded me of that person. I feel bad for the new generation because the songs today just dont give you feelings like we got listening (and still listening) to music like this. Lemar Lewis I completely agree! To be honest, I haven't heard too many songs lately that I'd even care much about after the first time hearing it. Music nowadays had nothing on the music years back. Music from years back has lyrics that are "real life", tell a story, etc., whereas nowadays a lot of R&B and rap, "pop hits", and so on. Lyrics from years back seem to have similarities to many circumstances or situations we all endured or will encounter at some point in our lives

Well your right and wrong. IMO about 40% of music is crap with auto tune but there is a lot of talent left and they are pretty mainstream. BTW you named the wrong stars. Ariana grande has a great voice and an impressive 4 octave range. Justin used to have talent but he's nasally, autotuned and a below average singer now like Chris brown. And lady gaga is a pretty good singer. Taylor Swift, below average singer. Selena Gomez, don't even get me started on her, she's way way way below average, auto tune doesn't even make her sound decent. Rihanna is just average. Piggy azalea is a waste of space. And others just sing about bad stuff. Though if you want mainstream talent you should listen to Nathan Sykes, Jessie j, Ariana grande, Jordin sparks used to be good, demi lovato, Mikey cryus has vocals but she doesn't often sing with passion and is... Ball is Life Nah son you don't get it. None of the names you mentioned come even close. Music was so real back then. It was just different. You had to live through that period to have a right to compare. It's not just vocals, it's the feelings you get when you play the entire album from start to finish. Music now will never give you that.

l grew up from boyhood into manhood listening to Boyz 2 Men and immortal hits like these. This and Water Runs Dry has always been my two favourite songs by the group among others. Still listening in 2023 and beyond.

Boyz 2 Men is THE GREATEST R&B Group to EVER CLUTCH A MICROPHONE. Off the top of my head, after them would be SILK, DRU HILL and JODECI. If I'm wrong then charge it to my heart, not my head.
