I was in 8th grade… 2 matts set up side by side. Naturally, you try to find your opponent prior to the match to scope them out. There were 3 of us in the 135 weight class. We noticed the other team didn’t have many kids compared to us, but noticed right away there was a girl about our weight. Our coach approached us and brought us to the side. He said “so, one of you has to wrestle the girl”. The 2 guys looked at me, Ian and William, and both said “you’re doin it”. Naturally I accepted as I wasn’t going to allow myself to deny a match because of a girl, I had to wrestle a blind kid and a kid with no legs prior so what’s the worst that could happen, right? As the meet starts, the parents are sitting up in the bleachers spread across the basketball court while 2 matches were going on simultaneously. Then, my match came. Everyone stopped, all parents moved to our matt side, the crowd literally went silent. My Dad was sitting in the stands and told me he overhear some mom say “I hope she beats him”. My Dad responded with the exact words “at this age, girls no longer have the capacity to match up vs boys”. They took quite offense to that according to him and he just laughed like the usually racist/nazi he was. I was bet $20 I wouldn’t pop a woody during the match as the girl I was wrestling was quite pretty at the time, no other terms involved. I pinned her within 45 seconds, played around a bit, naturally bcuz she had a great body. It was quite fun and an eye opener for her to say the least. Fast forward 3 years later, we went to rivalry high schools and came across each other numerous times at sporting events/dances/etc. she turned out to be a dime. Fast forward another 4/5 years… I walked into a bar where she was. She immediately came up to me and grabbed me and we had a great conversation. We couldn’t break eye contact with one another, it was truly a dream. JC, if you read this, know that I always thought we’d end up together!

If a girls wrestling program or team is offered, they can wrestle other girls. But if they don't have that opportunity, they wrestle boys in their weight class. And what's great about it is, they are just competitors. Nobody takes it easy on anyone, nobody worries about touching anyone. They just wrestle, and when they're done they shake hands. I had to wrestle a girl once in high school. I was scared to death that I would lose somehow. It really is a lose lose for the guy wrestling the girl. The match was actually very easy, except for the three injury timeouts she used because she couldn't breathe from me pinning her to the mat. In my whole wrestling career I never had a guy take even one injury timeout like that. All the respect for the girl trying her best but I'm just not in favor of guys and girls wrestling each other competitively.

Well, my brother said something my sister didn't like and she slapped him! Without blinking an eye, he decked her with a right hook! She jumped up crying and ran to our mother. My mother was really cool asked what happened. My sister said she slapped my brother. My mom said, "Don't ever do that again!" Mom said if women are going to act like men they should be prepared to be treated like men! I miss her!

Many dont believe that is right for boys to be touching girls in a violent manner and make no mistake wrestling is a violent sport,. As well many boys hold back and are hesitant to really put it on a girl for fear of being accused of inappropriat touching or potentially hurting a female. I personally dont believe its good to teach boys that man handling a female is an accepted practice doing so could set us back to the early to mid 1900s when controlling your wife was accepted.

I wrestled for 9 years when I was younger. In the Nordic Region we for some reason had boys wrestle Greco-Roman style while girls wrestled freestyle. Usually we fought separately but in one tournament abroad I faced a girl that was really good and had beat a bunch of lower ranked guys already. She would be allowed to wrestle freestyle and I had no experience with that type of wrestling! I was really worried about getting a boner and I remember the dread waiting hours before the match. Finally the match came and I remember lifting her but not wanting to throw her to the ground. With a guy it's usually full on but I more carried her down even if it cost me energy since I couldn't slam her. It's a double-edged sword since she was really good and I wanted to respect her ability simultaneously. I won with the pin and some match later went on to the final. This match had way more nervous energy for me than the final did.

I understand why you didn't slam her. I would have gone easy too, but you had every right to slam her if you did. She'd definetly bust your ass with glee. Ladies don't get to have it both ways. It's already lose- lose for you... Hope you got her number too.

She took some poor kid's spot that didn't deserve to get cut. What made things worse was they had her playing middle linebacker. She wad not good enough to play middle linebacker on a high school freshman team. The coaches would put her in at tye end of games and she would get absolutely blown up! I'm sure she has cte from how many times she got obliterated in the games. Why is this even allowed? If I were an athlete in school, I'd refuse to compete against a girl. I'd forfeit or take a loss or even be removed from the team. But I wouldn't compete against a girl. They have men's teams and girl's teams for a reason. Its a lose lose for a guy. If he wins, he still loses because the world knows he "beat a girl". If he loses.....well, that might be worse yet. This comment is in no way putting women in a second class situation either. Its not about being superior, although as it pertains to sports and physical activities, men are. That's just the way it is. But women are superior in other areas of life, yet men aren't clambering to be better than women in those areas.

I have YET to see the girl demonstrate the higher wrestling IQ or the more physically fit of the two either. It's always (with the exception of so very few) the male athlete that comes out triumphant in the end. Now , I'm no biologist but I AM realistic and realistically these matches speak volumes to the problems we've all been seeing with trans athletes competing against the opposite sex. That too is ironic bc everyone knows that every trans athlete transitioning from male to female... They oddly always seem to beat world championship level female athletes even though they themselves were just modest athletes before "transitioning". That really says so much more than society ever needed to hear tbh

I wrestled a girl in high school I was in the HWT division it maxed out at the time at 275. It was after Christmas so we always got an extra pound for “growth”. This girl weighed in at 275.9 and had more hair on her back than I have on my face now. My coach told me before my match with her that if I lost I was walking home. So I went out there threw her in a head lock instantly, but she halfway defended it and slipped out of grip as we fell. I then proceeded to land directly on her face with my hip. It did not end well for her nose. She had to be taken to the hospital because I basically flattened it on her face. It was not ideal for anyone involved.

Some girls are skilled and do manage to win against boys, but it’s usually because they are either big boned, or highly experienced in contact-sports and workout their bodies really hard. But that isn’t the norm, and it’s hard when girls want to wrestle but there isn’t enough girls to wrestle with, so they have to compete with boys. Also, boys constantly have to worry about avoiding the breast area on girls, so they have a slight disadvantage there leverage-wise. It’s just not really fair to me.

What are you talking about? If you have a match between a male and female of similar builds, it's going to be fairly even. The only difference is that males are stronger in the top half of their bodies, and females are stronger in the lower half. The reason males are considered stronger than females is because males, on average, are bigger overall. So the average male will beat the average females. If you read what I said clearly, you will see I said "similar builds", which means you're having an above average female face an average male. There's no unfairness in that match. The weight class system in wrestling isn't always fair, though, since in the first match of the video, the male is lean and strong, and the female is a bit heavier and not as much muscle. Would've made more sense to have her face a guy similar in build to her, rather than just similar weight.

As a grown man and in this crazy sexist society we live in....I WOULD NOT want to touch another woman/girl, let alone wrestle them. I grew up in a different age I guess. One thing I would like to know though is at what age does the average guy start to get a lot stronger then the average girl ?

This is outrageous. There needs to be a men and women’s team. Anyone who says there’s no difference between a man and a woman is out of their mind.

What parents would allow their sons to wrestle woman? The young ladies will be injured. We have in fact lost our minds.

It’s not outrageous. Lol First off, it’s only done where girls wrestling hasn’t progressed enough to have their own teams and leagues. More and more states are adding girls wrestling to their HS sports leagues every year.

@@joeydirty6112 you are entitled to your opinion and in general I agree with you that it’s not ideal, but serious injuries just haven’t happened in wrestling in the 30+ years they’ve been doing it. However, that’s why as Women’s wrestling grows they are creating their own leagues.

I love high school wrestling One of my sons was a D1 state qualifier 13 years ago He had early morning (6am) practice and after school practice. Never missed ONCE the whole time he was in high school, even when he was sick, or hurt. He even went after his grandfather's funeral. Only wrestler to ever do that. Really have fond memories of that season If I had a daughter I would NEVER let her wrestle.

The parents of these girls need help. Why would you subject your daughter to this abuse? Especially in the teen years. When boys are no longer boys. Even if you think it will make your daughter tougher you are putting her in a lose, lose situation, shame on you.

Ha. I’m glad my parents let me. My dad wasn’t a fan but he ended up seeing I could hang with the boys and make to the city championships - nothing wrong with them. Great parents for allowing me to do something I’ve always wanted to do!
