So absolutely right. Love him since I was a child since I was born in 1976. Lost George Michael. But a bit confused that WHAM were not big in the States as he stated in interview. WHAM make it big was what launched George Michael into one of the 80s biggest and most iconic artists of that era . And of any era. Strange oversight

I liked Culture Club back in the 80s, but how on Earth can Boy George say that Wham! wasn't popular in America?! I LIVED it, and I remember the mania over Wham! and George Michael. Yes, Culture Club got on the US charts first, by about a year or so. But in 1984, Wham!'s "Make it Big" album was a HUGE success! When Wham! toured America in 1985, Culture Club was already waning in popularity. People in the U.S. were crazy for George Michael and Wham!, long before GM's "Faith" album. Just stating the facts.

It was a sad day when George Michael died. One of my all time favorite artists (Prince and Bowie were also in my top favorites). It's great to see Boy George is still sober. He has such an amazing voice as well, I'd hate for him to ruin it. I notice he said they were like rivals, though I'm sure it was more or less a friendly one. Culture Club was big though. I know a lot of people point out how big George Michael was, but that was when he went solo. Unfortunately Boy George's solo stuff doesn't always get played. Even George Michael's stuff in the later years was pretty much ignored. I think since Listen Without Prejudice the music industry thought he turned his back on them, as he seemed to regret what he was doing prior that made him famous. And the music industry sucks when it coms to nurturing true musicians and artists.

  • @morenaflorena7793

Listen Without Prejudice and later was only ignored in the United States. Those latter albums did better than Faith in the UK. George Michael had a long career even if he was ignored in the States. Also I don't think their rivalry was "friendly". Back in the day Boy George wasn't the nicest of people and have on several occasions spoken not too fondly of GM.

George Michael's manager was a Nichiren Buddhist and the slogan CHOOSE LIFE that Wham wore for Wake Me Up was from a book that came out around the same time, containing dialogue from a discussion between a prominent British Dr and the leader of one of the organisations claiming to represent Nichiren's teaching of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo. I'm not sure if George Michael ever chanted, but I often wonder now how different his life may have developed if he had done and continued to do as Boy George has.

In the 1980's Boy George was so positive in his interviews. By the late 80's early 90's he wasn't as positive. I'm happy that he is back to being is old self again.

He clearly had a lot of growing up to do and he had become very jaded of celebrity and made cynical by it. Show business can really devour people emotionally and mentally and physically. The time in prison likely woke him up and humbled him.

I beg to differ with you, George, though I like you quite a bit. I discovered Culture Club and Wham! on American Band Stand and am eternally grateful that you have shared your music with the world. Wham! actually WAS successful in America in the 80's. Of all of the British bands played in heavy rotation during that "second British invasion", Wham! hit number one on the Billboard charts more than any other, 3 times, and had at least three other top ten hits. In fact, "Careless Whisper", marketed as a Wham! song in the US, while known as a George Michael song in other countries, was not only a number one single on the weekly Billboard chart, but was THE number 1 hit of the Billboard Year End Chart for 1985. The band also won Favorite Pop Duo or Group at the American Music Awards and sold out arenas from coast to coast. Sorry- I was in middle school during the 80's and had absolutely NOTHING else to concentrate on but my beloved George Michael, and the three charts that played on secular radio every Sunday after church!!!

Right off the bat my mom adored Boy George. She saw the man he was, the talent, the hardships. I agreed with her. Sometime's people never look past the external. Life is bigger! If you can't see the "heart" in Boy George, you are blind! That's the tragity! I am 67 now. Every year his "heart" grows bigger.

I am a huge, huge fan of GM and I am still grieving. Its a great sorrow and pain that he left us so early.George said in one of his interviews that he likes good looking ppl. George was looking for "good looking, body builders".Most probably he was attracted to men who had looks and bodies but completely empty inside. GM was a very kind person and most probably he thought that everyone was like him. Kenny is a great guy. He wanted a normal life with George I presume. Must have been hard to "hang" around with a popstar like GM. He should have kept his cruising to himself becoz its doesnt concern others.

Kenny was a really lovely looking young man when George met him. George's downfall I think was that he was attracted to those great looking men but the ones who have shitty personalities (Fadi Fawaz) etc.. Not all handsome/ beautiful people are beautiful inside. Not everyone in the world is like George.

He was kinda cute and good looking back 1984. So glad he get better. Wish do 1980s. Stars list of artist. On stage. Truly sad George Michael. Song like was Wake me up and go go. Biggest hit song. So sad most artist past away , Prince and Tom Petty , more look back artist music kind live on songs back old days were greatest hits on radio stations. I grow up 1980s my high school days until three years graduated from high school in Iowa. Start in Iowa K ,1,2, and few schools Minnesota were I was born. Nice 1970s and 1980s great songs and bands. Great interview. Nice see Boy George. And Band thank you.
