To all American viewers - Red Nose Day is part of a charity called Comic Relief, where people wear red nose badges to support the event. The last event in 2015 raised around £78 Million ($96 Million) on the night. And since it was founded in 1985, the charity in the UK has raised in total £1,047,083,706 (around $1.3 Billion) for disadvantaged people in the United Kingdom and Africa. So it is something we brits are proud of actually. The next event will be held in March this year 2017.

Yes, you do, but Comic Relief is a British charity. In America they raised the equivalent of £18 million, which is nothing compared with the £78 million raised by the U.K., especially when you take into consideration population and wealth. Does the US have a different version, as in a day where TV is devoted to a particular charity and everyone fundraises for it? All the kids celebrate it and do what they can to contribute? It would be cool if you did...

You really think if we were raising 77 million pounds a year there wouldn't be a dramatic decrease disadvantaged children in the U.K. And Africa. Same goes for cancer research. We are only funding the government but U.K. Are blind to it

well said, OXFAM been asking for money since i was a kid for wells, always wondered why there still got no water sytem money theu must of raised over the years , but then you see on charity shop door manager wanted 30k plus bonuses you realise its a sham

George Michael wasnt only one of the world's very best voices, he was also very humble and Human. The sense of loss, and void is still overwhelming to this day, just thinking he is no longer amongst us. we are left with his body of work however it is only a glimpse of the great person he was.

What a lovely story. I recently came across his grave by accident and it’s made me reflect on his music and legacy. Such a kind soul.

My father was a roadie for George Michael some years ago, and I will always be grateful to him for giving me the chance to meet George in person. I was 12 years old at the time, and I saw George backstage. He immediatly turned his attention to me as my father introduced. Despite the fact that there were tons of people present in the room, and many journalists wanted his attention, he spend almost 20 minutes talking to me! And though I was nervous, he just smiled and kept asking me about my musical preferences and stuff. I got to tell him that "Bad Boys" was my favorite song of his, and he was happy to hear that. He thought it was refreshing, since most people always said "Faith" or "Wake Me Up". 🙌 I will always remember him, and will never forget how he reserved time for an annoying little kid he didn't know at all. But it also makes his death that much harder to cope with. R.I.P Legend 😢

My father have worked with many celeb musicians, and he always said that George was one of the most comfortable artists to work with -He would always hang out and dine with the crew ;)

Word Unheard Thanks for the kind words. I've always respected my father immensely for having brought me into his work. I mean, the koncert-business is a very darkened world most of the time, and most roadies keep it separated from family and so on. But he said that he didn't wanna miss out on my childhood, so he always brought me along when there was time. He said he wanted me to know every side of the music-business, and that he wanted to make sure I got a great musical "education" .I'd like to think I succeeded there ;)

His solo albums are worth’s. Listen from “ pride without prejudice “ to “older”

George was never a joke to anyone who loved him. Whether you loved him for his music, and never met him, you knew he wasn't some egotistical pop star. George felt deeply and cared about people. All the generous giving he did to strangers was done on the down low. He gave his time and wealth to people he wanted to help and thank. I love George for his gentle soul. You can tell when he was hurt, and it was so sad to see him so hurt. It feels like it's been so much more than 4 years since he's past. I wish there had been a tribute in his honor, by artists. It's wrong that there wasn't a tribute by musicians around the world to celebrate his life. I hope one day there will be.

i grew up listening to 80s music ( best ) and Wham was part of it , then George went solo in his career and made some fantastic songs that he wrote himself , his songs and other 80s music takes me back to a time when life was better and im sure other people feel that way too

You can see in the clip that George has considerable acting and comic talent as well, what a gifted and lovely man he was!

This couldn't have resonated more with me. I feel exactly what Corden felt, listening to George's songs. Songs like One More Try, Where Did Your Heart Go, etc. - you just feel a connection with George himself that makes you feel like you weren't alone anymore and knew what to say to get you believing again. Being gay myself, An Easier Affair struck an even deeper chord. He's the reason why I sing the way that I do - I use his breathing patterns and in public karaoke I even do his accent when I sing his songs lol. I still miss him today. Here I am, it's nearly midnight, searching for KZread videos about him and watching this. Thanks for saying what you said, James. Sharing this George Michael connection with you is ever lasting. Love your show! And a special thank you to George Michael for sharing his passion with all of us.

George Michael played a HUGE role in molding the 1980's into the legacy that it is today for so many of us Generation X kids. It would not have been the same without his music and talent.

Oh George... what a sweet and kind soul he was, he never deserved that media hate, and the fact that he died alone on Christmas day and was only found in the afternoon, while the most of us were having fun, hurts so much... And he gave us a lot of joy with his incredible music, he kept so positive when many were against him, and he helped so many who were in need... What a man.

Great tribute. George was not only a genius at music but more importantly a really sound man. He had a spirituality about him that cam through in all his songs.

I had the privilege to see George in concert TWICE, he was AMAZING, I was right at the front of the stage, worth every penny. Not to mention too the amazing work he did for different charities. I saw this years ago and fell in love with it. The fact they're wearing the same outfit is brilliant. "Don't put your sad face on!" lol I can honestly say I cried when I heard of his passing. I've always felt that George has a song for every emotion or situation in life, and his music certainly helped me countless times. RIP, superstar and thank you, James for honoring him.

I will NEVER EVER get tired of seeing this. Every time I watch Carpool Karaoke I always think of this one,brief though it may be. Sadly missed but forever remembered,thank you George for all your music and for being such a part of my teenage years in the ‘80s 🙏🏼🕯

I was vacationing with my children in Washington DC. The children were in the indoor swimming pool and I was enjoying a glass of wine, watching the news on my phone. It was breaking news. George Michael Dead. I started crying. I will never forget how sad I was. Not just for myself, but for the entire world. I knew that he was a shooting star and way ahead of his time. He was a beautiful, talented and gifted human being. There will never be another like him. Ever. The world lost a legend. All these years later, it still breaks my heart. Rest in peace Yiorgos. Your memory will be eternal 🙏✝️🕯️

George is the love of my life. He was there for me through everything. My father’s death hit me hard and Jesus To A Child was like therapy for me in those dark days. When I was a teenager Wham! songs were my energy release. And when I loved someone he expressed my feelings in his songs. I grew up with him and his art. That’s what he means to many of my generation. His voice was sublime live or in a studio. Song writing and production talents were one of the best ever. His honesty and open heart made us get everything he did and feel it. RIP GM.

I know that everyone here in the UK and who's a fan of this show knew there was a connection with George Michael and the creation and comeuppance of Carpool Karaoke, I don't know how well that was known in the states but now you all know! I watched this sketch at the time, and it was the first thing I thought of when I heard the sad news...r.i.p george

When I found out he passed, I had a breakdown I went into the living room put on all his songs my three kids endured my sadness but they were well aware how much I loved him and they understood it. We basically spent hours listening to his music and I cried the whole time. He is still my favorite. When I was a little girl 11 yrs old in Portugal I fell in love with Wham! George has the voice of an angel... that love remains...

I feel like George Michael & I kind of grew up together despite never meeting. His music was the soundtrack of my young adulthood & my love for him never waned as the decades passed. I felt his death almost as keenly as if he were a family member. I miss him still.

What I find even more wonderful about George Michael, was how charitable he was! He would give $1000s to people he didn't even know, out of the blue, just because he saw them on tv or heard about them somehow, needing money for something important, like surgery or some treatment! And he did most of it without anyone knowing about it! Like working at a soup kitchen, and telling those who ran it, not to tell anyone! So you know he did this stuff out of the kindness of his heart, not for attention, like many famous people do!

Do any British people here remember that comic relief special, I remember watching it when it came out. It had a load of celebrities sat around a table later, that's all I can remember.

I completely agree with James regarding the "healing power" of George Michaels music. It has comforted me so often in my life and let me came back stronger than before. Thank you so much for this post, James! To George: You and your music were forged for eternity...

I was devastated when George died. I remember watching this carpool with Smithy and George years ago, it was brilliant. George I will miss you, RIP

I too will miss George Micheal. He helped me wallow in sorrow when I needed too, and lifted my spirits when they needed to be lifted.

I miss u George. Nights like tonight i feel so empty without you . U saved my life so many times...i wish you where still here.

I work opposite where George Micheal lives in Goring where he passed away and there are still people coming down to lay flowers was talking to some people who came all the way down from Ireland, America, Scotland and loads of other countries just to pay their respects to George it's so lovely to see there are thousands of flowers still there and that's after the rotten ones have been taken away they're still being replaced with new ones from people who loved him! RIP George you were loved! ❤️

Tony Smith no I work at the dental practice 3 doors down from the coffee shop, but it is an amazing coffee shop, they sell the best homemade cakes! 😍

I miss George so much.He was only a few years older than me,I was born in 1966 and he was born in 1963.So when I first saw George Michael was when he was in Wham with Andrew Ridgley.I remember getting Wham Rap I absolutely loved that track and the other tracks that followed in his career later on,R.I.P George.

it's so sad if makes you want to cry, but when you listen to them singing it make you smile and inside your heart is broken because you feel the sadness of losing the person you've listened to for you hole life. I think you can't help smiling and singing along when you hear a George Michael song because you know he enjoyed making his music for everyone to listen too. R.I.P George

My heart is still broken💔

I was devestated when I saw he past. Hes one of my favourite artists. I love Wham and George. Everything James said was exactly how I feel

I still cry when I think of his passing. He was so passionate about life and his music. At least now his spirit is free and he no longer has to deal with the evil and hate that tormented him while on earth.

I grew up listening to George he was part of my daily life and as a man I'm proud to say that while my other mates were listening to heavy metal in the 80 s i was listening to careles whisper instead. Georges music will be frozen in time forever for millions of us and allways in our hearts. Rest peacefully now my friend your time here with us will never be forgotten

That clip made me smile and enjoy the memory of George Michael. May he rest in peace, and the legacy of his music continue to inspire and move us.

Happy Birthday George , your music has changed so many people’s lives and especially mine and my mom’s. I just can’t thank him enough and I just wanted to wish him a happy birthday and I hope he smiles back on us who listen to his music. So happy birthday George we miss you dearly
