Boxing Stance Fundamentals: Everything You Need to Know

KO Boxing Package! Complete training program that includes everything you need to go from a beginner to an advanced boxer - koboxingpackage.weblium.site
In this lesson I explain different stances that we will use later in the course:
1. Frontal stance a.k.a square stance
we will use this stance not to fight but to practice easier progressions of basic skills
2. Orthodox stance (at the long, middle, close ranges)
fighting stance, which is mostly used by right-handed people
3. Southpaw stance (at the long, middle, close ranges)
fighting stance, which is mostly used by left-handed people
Common mistakes to avoid:
Positioning your feet on one line
Pointing toes straight forward
Not Bending your knees
Standing too tall
Keeping hand too high or too low
Keeping your chin too high
Not changing your stance depending on the distances
Homework:
1. Stay in front of a mirror and check your frontal and fighting stance
2. Ask your friend to slightly push you in the chest or shoulders to see if you`re balanced

Brother, I think you should do an analysis of the peak’a’boo style, namely the one that Tyson and Paterson used

Well I personally never used it and never fought anyone with this style, so I will have to do a lot of research to make it happen :)

@@akhotinbxng I have another small question, what is the name of a boxer who can use several styles at once, whether it's an infighter, an outfighter, or a puncher(and others). I will be glad if you answer it.

Theres videos online by Teddy Atlas, but you have to pay for them. Quite pricey but it does go in depth by Tyson’s former trainer himself

I study Shorin-Ryu (Okinawan) karate. Our stances are much higher, almost like a boxing stance, in contrast to modern sports (shotokan) karate. Many stances in Shorin-Ryu, like the Naihanshi stance are indeed as well with toes inwards, however we still have also stances with toes forward, like you showed. Especially in sports karate, where they want to do long range punches, the knees go deep and fist forward for fast attack. In the original Okinawan karate, many many stances were with toes inwards. Your video is really interesting! It's good to compare styles and see what we can pick up from each other! 🙏🥋
