He was actually a very small light heavyweight even. He was a tiny heavyweight. That makes his accomplishments more impessive to me.

@@GuyFromTheSouth sad people only remember his Tyson fight, Spinks is a G. Hes definitely up there with legends like Roy Jones, Mike Tyson, Ali, Holmes, Liston. Spinks is also an all time great I dont care what anyone says, he moved up from MW, won a belt there, moved up to LHW and won a belt there, then defeated Holmes to win a HW crown!

Two weight world champ at 175 and heavyweight and holds wins over Gerry Cooney, Larry Holmes 2x and Muhammad Qawi. Spinks is a legend.

Spinks is a legend yes but he beat Holmes once - he lost that second fight -they just gave it ti him - they never liked Holmes

@@jamesinwood4170 I agree. But even then, beating a legend like Larry Holmes once is in and of itself impressive.

He was so awkward against Holmes... He had a great game plan for these fights and he executed it perfectly.

Sad that most just remember the Tyson fight which was his last fight and only loss. Besides MAYBE Roy Jones, he's the best Lt Heavy of the last 40 years. I'm glad to see his motor functions are still well and he looks good.

He is. I met him at a cafe called Blue Berry Hill years ago. He acts like a regular Joe. Great guy and perhaps the greatest Light HW of all times. People that point to the Tyson fight don't know boxing. Spinks was a nature 175 who overachieved in beating Cooney and Homes. He went to the heavyweight well once too many when he took on a Tyson who was at his peak.

People talk really stupid how in the world can anybody keep calling him a light heavyweight the man beat Larry Holmes twice he beat one of the greatest fighters of all times twice, this man is truly underrated okay Tyson beat him that's because he was afraid of Tyson, had he not been afraid of Tyson he would have truly I believe had a chance to beat him by out boxing him. Evander Holyfield truly showed what a good fighter a great fighter could do up against Mike Tyson, he wasn't afraid of him he totally schooled Mike Tyson in both fights it goes to show you a boxer will beat a brawler any day. Go back and look at the fight between Mike Tyson and James Quick Tillis that's how you fight somebody like Tyson with ease and with no problem if more Fighters had just gotten over the fear of Tyson being a hard hitter they could have beat him had they fought him just like James Quick Tillis for him and just like Evander Holyfield fought him
