For all the rookies out there thinking about power. This techniques probably isn't more powerful then the poorer way BUT,it's faster and and helps protects you in a fight.

@@THESKITKRU Yea, the punch is "driven " off the hip as opposed to swinging wide and slapping it ,which sadly is what alot of people do with a shovel hook

Thanks for making these videos! I really appreciate you sharing your experience! I'm a novice but I've been using your tips in sparring and have really felt improvement and have gained a lot of confidence. I've been catching out guys who are more experienced and have been giving them plenty to think about!
That is a masterpiece even for a tall guy like me. Thank you
Your videos are really excellent mate!! Learning lots watching your lessons!
Thank you for pointing out small details on the techniques!
I must say that I very much enjoy your videos. Working as a striking coach myself, I've sometimes found myself out of inspiration or felt a lack of a good way to teach certain techniques. You provide a lot of good tips, principes and pointers which have helped me find that love for striking again. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge, keep up the good work bro! :)

Great tips as always, the tshirt is dope too !
Great and informative videos
Good job on these videos.
Great videos bro. Im learing a lot. ty for sharing ! Champ ! :)
Great tips! Never considered the 1st one and nobody really told me. But I used to spar a guy who would look down and strike up and the other way around. This is a great way to fool smbdy and I adobted this trick from him. Expecially when sparring a less experienced guy -just a quick look at the guts and bam -headshot. It's like faking it, but better :P
super! keep up the good job bro!
Trip ! Thx again !!!
I really take heed to your coaching advice its very accurate helpful and good....i love your coaching videos i will cont to watch n follow your boxing advice...stay blessed bro

3Kings617 umh you should actually go to a gym and train there, you should at least know your basics like: your stance, how to move forwards, backwards and sideways, your basic jab and straight. without your basics your punches would be floppy, weak and easy to dodge. this video is actually more for those who are on boxing or did boxing and trying to improve at home, i not trying to say you should stop watching it but i just try to inform you it is better to go to a actual boxing gym.
Throughout my experience I've noticed that the most effective body shots are made by deception to break there defence,power,and accuracy liver shots,solar plexus, the ribs under the armpit and jab to chest are some good ones I use nice video man
One more thing, although it is related to kick boxing, if you are doing the wrong shot in the body, as the man said, and showed, in combination for example left jab, right body shot, opponent often tries to hit you with right leg kick after your jab (or simultaneously with your jab), and if you leave that opening between the elbow and the body, he will slip his shin in your ribs. Yet again JT Van V did phenomenal tutorial video. Often I look at a martial arts training videos, and this guy is doing the best ones. I salute you from Serbia!

Hey, good tips. A lot of this are things you take for granted, better being reminded here than in sparring! Can you make a video of blocking/deflecting body shots in a Philly shell type of style? When to use/not use it, etc

friendly sparing (no gloves or head shots) it worked over and over with both hands. like "money in the bank."
I had no idea that it is better to keep the elbow in front of you. Can't wait to try this.

Can you do a video on arturo gatti's style of boxing and footwork. Please !
You are the best
Soon as you got to the bit about elbow position I realized I've been doing exactly what you warned against. I think part of the cause for this bad habit is the desire to throw punches as hard as possible. Better to throw with 75% power with good technique than load up for a haymaker that won't land anyway. Thanks for the tips, keep em coming.

I like a lead left hook over the opponents right hand dropping in low, with your chin under your left shoulder. your forehead slides under his right. a little or time a right lead over the jab. or if you inside a right hook to the body to right uppercut, the hook straight.

Hey JT, what about a hook to the body, is it thrown the same way as a normal hook just with a level change?
I really been a Great student for the pass 2 years Now and the only reason to go to the gym is sparing. Its like your Pocket Yoda, I study fights to pick uo little things and use you as my coach. So im gonna steal you for a couple of weeks so i can see What other tricks you. Honestly im a way better boxer cuz of this Guy. So Thanks for the Videos . great video, thanks. i was wondering how you generate power with your lead hand, i have tried to use some method as the other hand, however the rotation of the waist seems akward when i try it.
@PrecisionBoxing
9 жыл бұрын
Alastair Baird lead hand power for a straight comes from driving off the back foot. For the hook its shoulder/waist rotation. You have to improve these aspects
@allstair4212

JT Van V thanks for the reply. so just to confirm, body shots on the lead hand should be more of a jab or a hook driving off the back foot, rather than an uppercut type of body shot as shown in the video for the rear hand?
@PrecisionBoxing
9 жыл бұрын
Alastair Baird no, body shots off the lead hand are rotation of shoulders and hips with the hand driving forward. dont think about the back foot.
Mike Tyson's shovel hook to the body OUCH
Well... When is it okay to dip down for a body shot?Or it is not okay? Also when I dip for a body shot, is it okay to do some combinations to the body or should I just get myself back up as soon as possible.. Maybe if I match the dipping with some head movement and foot work whilst down there in order to avoid some of those punches
Whenever your fighting how do u put you put ur hands up when your fighting someone like how do you post up when you fight someone
great attention to detail again, thanks. a quick question if you've got time to answer it?? my gym has just got a new 30kg maize bag, I`ve been using it for 10 rounds of drills etc.instead of just the heavy bag and mitts. so far (in my opinion) it definately gets your slipping and footwork going. what`s your opinion of them? any routines you would recommend for training on them? cheers fella.

Which is more helpful for a sparring match: double-end bag training or speed bag exercises? How do beginner boxers know when they're ready to spar?
@PrecisionBoxing
7 жыл бұрын
+Az PharmD look up my video on how to prepare for a first fight. DE bag is better than the speed bag for real boxing
Dope video. quick questions tho! isnt the wrong way more powerful? since it has a lil swing in it? like do i focus on form n risk power? or focus on power n risk form? or mix it up?
@PrecisionBoxing
10 жыл бұрын
yes, ur right, so I have a quick question for you...in sparring which type of shots are landing for you? I will also have a video discussing power versus speed in all kinds of punches. Its not an easy topic to cover, overall there will always be a trade off between power and speed when more than one punch is thrown.
@blackbishop1000
10 жыл бұрын
JT Van V I feel u. yea a video covering power vs speed will be great. and when i spar i tend to use a mix of speed and power depending on my sparring partner as well, and by power i dont mean hay makers!
Hey JT Van V, quick question. I can bang to the body with decent power but I find it difficult to find my range when it comes to body shots. Sometimes I just jab, then get them used to seeing a jab, then feint it and go to the body and it does work but then I end up smothering my own work by stepping in too close. Any ways or training tips to avoiding that? Like I either end up over-reaching and being very open or stepping in TOO close and not being able to follow up the body shot with any combinations. Thanks!
@PrecisionBoxing
9 жыл бұрын
Yes, the key is to develop power in close, not try to get the perfect range. You have to develop your inside game
You should make a vid on looking to fake out an opponent.
Have you got any ways or videos on how to throw the liver punch.
@PrecisionBoxing
9 жыл бұрын
Liam Metcalfe not specifically, but its pretty much what you see in this video
I heard you should somewhat step forward when you punch.you punch without jerking forward if that makes sense.i want to learn to punch correctly without using up all my energy and tire myself out
As a shorter person, would it be better for me to focus on body shots than overreaching for headshots against a taller opponent?
Great video! Any advice on training a 12yr old 39kg for amature? I'm a coach myself getting a different perspective is always good and I can tell your advice is worth listening to. Thanks.

hey i know this comes late... i hope this might help judging from myself being an amateur having witnessed a lot of tourneys and sparring sessions with kids. 1)condition,condition,condition for him to throw high volume for 3 x 2 minute rounds (in the ammys, the ability to look clean and sharp in the end may give you that edge)... 2)keep it simple with a solid base and good technique/form of 1,2's ... this way he's not overthinking with hooks, uppercuts, and other crazy combos, etc...in my opinion a good fighter can outchess you with jus the jab and cross...
@Declanwalsh1
10 жыл бұрын
thanks guys,keeping it simple is working, we were using hooks and uppercuts and it was making it too complicated in the heat of a 1.5 min contest,here in Ireland the competition is tough it's mostly Traveler kids who box and their tough as nails.We have a more skill based approach but toughness outweighs the good technique if the pressure is kept on and the tough one just keeps going forward,with the new scoring system it's very hard(here anyway) to win on the back foot,the kid going forward wins,for being tough,i know this will change as they get older as the kid learning skill will be the better boxer in time. It's the waiting and bad looses on split decisions that's the killer.
