With a red carnation in his sport coat, Holiday heads off for a garden bazaar. He's then tempted into trying his hand at a game. Guess how many beans there are in the jar. Guess right and win a prize, a lamp, a wonderful lamp, but it all spells trouble.
Alan Ladd stars as Dan Holiday in Box 13. Also starring Sylvia Picker as Suzy and Edmund MacDonald as Lt. Kling. To seek out new ideas for his fiction, Holiday ran a classified ad in the Star-Times newspaper where he formerly worked: "Adventure wanted, will go anywhere, do anything -- write Box 13, Star-Times". The stories followed Holiday's adventures when he responded to the letters sent to him by such people as a psycho killer and various victims.

Great quality, wonderful story and excellent acting

In dollars, adjusted for inflation, $50,000.00 in 1948, would now be (year 2019) $536,822.65. It would be worth searching in a dump to find it. Every time one of my favorite detectives gets hit on the head (sometimes every episode) I think what damage it must be doing to their brains. This was a suspenseful dramatization with our Dan Holiday using his deductive reasoning to unravel the mystery.
