    Wait a minute. What happens when you "speed up" over a real target like a small earring or a quarter?

  • @AmericanDetection

    @AmericanDetection

    Жыл бұрын

    Hey Bill- Great question and I should have shown you that. But speeding up your swing only helps the detector get a better target ID, so the Tracker IV would still read quarter or good coin target as a good target. Hope this helps.

    @@AmericanDetection I retired in 2014 and spend a lot of time travelling and camping in the western US national parks. I've always been lucky/good at finding stuff others have left behind, I haven't had to buy rope for years!!😀. I tend to find quite a few coins and other weird things, I even found a gold ring in a campsite once. I've been thinking about getting a detector for a while now , but being a cheap bugger I've been looking at stuff from China.....then I fell into your videos. Your obvious like for a Tracker IV really made an impression! And Cabela's in Saskatoon had one on sale 1/2 price! Now Cabelas in Canada isn't cheap but 1/2 price brought it down to cheap bugger level. So come spring when the snow goes I'll be out eagerly listening for those great low grunts.😁. And once again I really appreciate your great, detailed, informative CLEAR videos.

    Are there more capable units out there? Yes, but at a much high cost. Value for the dollar, the Tracker IV can't be beaten. It's made in the USA and has a 5-year warranty; you can't go wrong with this unit. That being said, I think you've made a great decision, and I can confidently say you'll have a quality detector at a great price! I appreciate the kind words.

    @@AmericanDetection Thanks, Russ. I have another question. I hear a lot about "recovery time". What does the term mean? BTW, what was your AFSC?

  • @AmericanDetection

    @AmericanDetection

    Жыл бұрын

    Hello Jon- Recovery speed is how fast the metal detector can signal one targets presence recover and then signal the presence of another target. This can be tested by laying 3 coins out, in line, a coil width apart. Vary the coins, something like penny, nickel, penny so you can easily hear the different responses (High tone, Mid tone, High tone). Swing you coil over the coins gradually picking up speed. When you've exceeded the detectors recovery speed you will start to lose one or more of the signals. And I was a 3P052A Military Working Dog Handler in the Security Police.

    You obviously are not very experienced in metal detecting. If you were you would understand that even the best metal detectors struggle with bottle caps. Their size, shape and make-up deliver a very similar conductivity signature to that of a high conductor like coins. We can debate this all day long however you will lose this debate. I promise you. I suggest googling before you enter into this argument, better yet go detecting for a few more years so you can speak from experience.
