Hello Jerry- I'm more of a relic hunter now days, but I use to do a LOT of beach hunting. Since it's been so darn hot here in TX and I'm only 30 minutes from the coast, I'll probably do a little more beach hunting this summer.

Knew it before you said it russ. The towel line. When I lived out in Northern Cali I used to drive over to Fort Bragg only about a three and a half hour drive from where I lived and metal detect the beach on the weekends and man I tell you what I was sucking up the goodies like a vacuum cleaner sucking up dirt off a carpet. Great video and very informative. I sure do miss the beaches. Can't find too many in Arkansas though. Lol.

Hey there Danny! For sure! I've heard of some retired detectorist making 10-20k a year beach detecting in California, and like you, many of them say they find most of their finds in the towel line.

@@AmericanDetection absolutely russ. I love detecting in sand it's so much easier to make your recoveries. I hate getting down on my knees and dig plugs in grass and digging through dirt to find my target when half the time it turns out to be a piece of scrap aluminum or a rusty flat bottle cap or something like that.

Good video & tips on locating jewelry , coins , etc. , & The Towel Line is usually the Motherlode !! Quick question ... Would you recommend using the Bounty Hunter Trkr. 4 as a beginner detector on beaches , salt water etc. ?? I've heard mixed reviews about it not working properly and going crazy due to the Sand Mineralization , and discouraging first time Bounties when they go out !! Thoughts ?? Thanks !! 😊

Hello Waylon- The towel line is always more productive than in the water, always. The Tracker IV will do VERY well in the dry sand at saltwater beaches. The wet salty sand will be a bit of a challenge even metal detectors that cost $400 or more. I would suggest lowering your sensitivity settings if you feel you must hunt in the wet sand. Good luck!

  • @AmericanDetection

Yes, absolutely the Tracker IV is a great detector for a beginner and even advanced users. If you beach detect, I 'd suggest you get a scoop, hunt in all-metal and dig everything. You'll get a lot of trash bout you also get the smaller gold targets that you wouldn't have using discrimination and "cherry-picking". Good luck and welcome to the hobby!

@@AmericanDetection Thanks for the great advice! Do you think I should get the 3300 it cost a little more than thr bounty hunter 4?

  • @AmericanDetection

If you're able to stretch your budget by around $50, I highly recommend opting for the Discovery 3300. It provides a wealth of additional information compared to the Tracker IV, including details such as depth, Target ID (both numerical and categorical). One significant advantage of the Discovery 3300 is its Ground Balance capability, which the Tracker IV lacks. On the other hand, if you're working with a more constrained budget, the Tracker IV remains a reliable option that will still get the job done admirably.
