I ordered 2005 Maserati Quattroporte on December 2004, visited the factory in Modena end of April , and took delivery of my car in May 2005. It was the replacement to my brilliant E39 lemans blue BMW M5. It has 58000 miles and the original clutch on the robotic manual transmission. I added Larini exhaust , Xpipe , and lowered the adjustable suspension 1.25 inches rear and .75 inches front. Everything else is original. I only drive on manual sport setting and drive it as if it is a manual transmission by sensing the clutch engagement and using the throttle to smooth gear changes and avoid clutch slippage on uphill startup. It has been the most satisfying and engaging car ownership experience with no mechanical issues. I have refinished all the sticky parts . It is the best designed and timeless sedan ever with the best sounding, free reviving mid mounted engine with transaxle - 47% front, 53% rear weight distribution. It has an awesome handling balance no other sedan can match. I read all this nonsense from amateur US testers and reviewers who have no mechanical clue about how to appreciate a true analog robotic manual car and duel on Hate filled 1970s Italian car reliability reputation on a car very well engineered by the Ferrari engineers in early 2000s. My 2005 Maserati is an Epic car that I will keep all my life

I bought one of these new in 2006 in Canada and drove it daily for 2 years until I moved back to Europe. I loved it, great driver, no service issues at all. Maybe I was lucky, maybe it was ignorant bliss, but I loved it. Great car, so much nicer than modern Maseratis.

maserati quatroporte s with the zf transmission are relatively good, as long if you do the maintenance on it correctly i saw a lot of these with 200k kms on the clock ! if you scimp on maintenance it will not last that long i can assure you.

I have a 2005 Quattroporte, and I am very glad that they have depreciated so fast. That's the reason I can afford to buy and own one on Social Security. Recently, a "me monster" guy came up beside me at a stop light and revved his big diesel pickup truck with black smoke billowing out the back and claimed it was faster than my Maserati. Maybe so, but I rolled my window down and hollered back, "but it's still not a Maserati". I would bet that ALL of the negative comments replying to this KZread never owned one, and, obviously, never rode in one, and for sure never drove one. Even our young "everyday driver" had to admit the big smile on his face was due to how fantastic it feels to ride in the best sounding and best looking sedan in the world. It is a Ferrari sedan. You can't get that kind of performance and sound and the exotic Formula One "feel" of paddle shifting anywhere else. No one buys a Maserati, Ferrari, Bentley, hot rod, or muscle car for gas mileage. You guys need to go get an econo-box and leave the real driving to us. By the way, that new full size "luxury" econo-box is going to set you back at least $50,000. Yes, you get 35 mpg on the highway, BUT for under $20,000 you can drive a Maserati. How much gas can you buy for $30,000, and look what I get get to ride around in. All my friends with their expensive trucks and sedans want to ride in my "old" Quatrroporte, when we go out. No one asks them to rev their engine. I may not be as fast as some other big sedans, but why does everyone want to race me? Because I'm in a cool Maserati. I may not get "good" gas mileage, or be as fast, but, you know what, at least I'm driving a Maserati. What do you have to ride around in?

I bought a 2009 in exact same exterior color n Cuoia interior. I still hav it n it now just roll over to 42,000 miles. The engine still strong n sounds fantastic. SPORT mode changes everything n sounds WOW. I take impeccable care of it n always keep it in top condition. It’s going into its 12th year with me n every time i drive it i feel like the very first time we met. I added a blue tooth transmitter to the iphone 30-pin (ancient, i know) n now i play music from my iphone. Music hardware is outdated but that’s not the point. I’v changed the brakes twice n the Michelin tire S3 (S three) works well. I’v paid to get the interior (onion peel) leather repair/updated. I also found chemicals n wiped off (w/ great effort) the sticky button guck. I can afford other new cars but i’m keeping this one.

Love the videos of the cheap Maserati and Vw Phaeton! I own a 2003 Audi RS6 that I got more than a year ago and feel like I’m on the same page with you guys... cheap super sedan thing! Although I spent more than the price of the Maserati by about 4 grand, i think it’s a special car and went in expecting to spend $ to keep it up. Indeed I have spent almost 5 grand on maintenance in about 16 months, aka timing belt and water pump with a unexpected intake issue that had check engine light and required intake removal to fix an emission issue, i think I have gotten in front of some major issues and really enjoying the car now! Feel lucky to be driving an almost 80k car for a fraction of the sticker, puts a smile on my face every time I get in it!

"$3200.00 for a water pump and it's going to take six months to get the part. You're kidding me. Right?" And then you'll be a full-fledged member in the Sucker Club like all the rest of us.

fontking1a no that happens my friend who’s in auto body had to wait 5 months for German hi end luxury cars Kevlar coil tower upper which was riveted to the metal unibody with several large rivets which had to be drilled out with a hand held 3/8 drill and riveted back in by hand it was 2 years old and had very minor fender damage but the Kevlar upper coil tower was off 1/2 degree of camber and could not be brought in to spec . The manufacturers had no stock on the part and had to have the part made .I have a hobby 1976 vette c3 highly modded and supercharged I do all the paint body engine and mods my self and owned the car 38 years it has all the original steering and suspension components except shock original clutch rotors . The older gm cars had grease fittings on all suspension and steering parts the c3 had 19 . I spent 3 weeks applying a blue and diamond metal flake paint job in acrylic lacquer and another 100 hours wet sanding rubbing compounding . Even the newer North America and European hi end luxury and super cars don’t do well if driven daily and left out side all year . My opinion is have a daily driver which have 50 dollar water pumps go miles and miles with only oil and filter changes every 3 -5 k transmission oil and other fluids changed yearly mine is a 2004 Grand Prix gt n/a 3.8 400000 on the clock sound like new engine . Recently I purchased a Cts in mint condition from a Kia dealer low miles but uncertified for very low price ,I replaced all the brakes including parking brakes and alignment kit rotors ceramic pads and new Goodyear’s 18inch tires after got it certified at a local mechanic shop all in I have $2500.00 plus licence in the car .The cts is now put away for the winter .

2:38 Buick actually got the inspiration for the three fender vents from Maserati. U’d be surprised to know that in 1947 Maserati made the Maserati A6 1500, their first 'road car' which included three distinctive side vents. A full “two years” before side vents appeared on the 1949 Buick Roadmaster. When the Quattroporte debuted in the early 2000’s Buick hadn’t had a model with side/fender vents for decades. It was a little while later that they and the automotive aftermarket community caught on again.

No, Buick designer Ned Nickles added Ventiports in mid 1947 to his 1948 Buick after being inspired by the exhaust stacks on fighter aircraft, not Maserati.

beautiful car! makes sense to me to buy a highly depreciated car so that even if you to in the unlikely event put 20K into it it would still be a much classier, more comfortable car then the same priced camry. I bought a 2011 mbz ml350 for less then 20K 2 years ago because here in California toyota land, they depreciate fast. Now 2 years later only expense was gas and service. Much more enjoyable ride then a 25K rav.

I just test drove that exact car in Northern Indiana that's listed for $10K. How horrible is the transmission in yours? It's historically so jerky i'ts funny to experience on a car that sold for $110K + new. I haven't pulled the trigger on it yet but really considering it since I make bad car buying decisions. Thanks for your input!

very interesting...possibly a Gran Turismo coupe next? The problems doesn't come from when these types of cars running, but when they decide not to run or do something simple they've done for a 1000 times and then all of a sudden one day decide not to do that simple thing. The issues arise when you have to replace said part that part that does the simple task that isn't so simple in its design or its location that seems nearly impossible to get to. So, in big lux cars, people don't want to deal with the issues when it comes time to "fix" things when they fail as the ordeal quickly turns into a "not worth the effort" or "more than the car is worth" proposition. Glad you are enjoying your Four-doors.

I hav a 2009 QP Executive GT since new. It has been surprisingly reliable for about 46000 miles. Then the regular required maintenance kicked in. It's really normal repairs n nothing special; timing belt, suspension bushings, front connecting rod bushings, engine variator, cooling system replacements, engine mount replacements, O2 sensor, electric window motor replacements...nothing i haven't done on my Toyotas, Hondas, VW, Volvo, even BMW's. Problem is comparatively small volume in cars produced (comparing to Toyota, for example) thereby INCREASING owners' cost of repairs due to low economy of scale. Maserati (Ferrari) did not make MILLIONS of Quattroporte 4.7 but maybe about 20,000 of the M139 from 2007-2013. Only 20,000 cars with Ferrari sourced engine, suspension, exhaust, cooling system...there are just 20,000 of us shouldering all the costs & NOT the 3-5MILLION Camry, Accord owners all sharing the cost of their repair bills. I easily spent 1 entire new Camry/Accord in repairs when my Maserati hit 52k thru to now 56k miles. I love my Maserati QP 4.7 & it gives me such pleasure to know it runs perfectly in mechanical Zen n can be driven with such anonymity on the road...until i press the "SPORT" button n hit the throttle. 🎉😮🎉
