Great video today Tom , you found some lovely bottles, the green and the pale amber are especially nice, I love the cap badge , I have a photo of my Grandfather in his royal artillery uniform from WWI complete with spurs and a riding crop he was working with the heavy horses, thankfully he survived or I wouldn't be here, sadly other members of my family never came home from the great war 😥, they were such brave men. They were such brave men.

Great pictures of the soldiers Tom when I see these pictures I always think about how many of them survived the war .R.I.P. those who didn’t come home.

I wanted to let you know here in the States the bottle diggers cut down old broke bottles and sell them for shit glasses. You have much more older bottles and pictorials etc. They sell a lot of them. It would be an awesome Christmas present, birthday, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day or just because. The Cobb bottles all the old bottles would work fantastically. Hopefully you can try it out.

A wonderful video, thank you Tom. Some nice finds, but my favourite by far is the cap badge and the tribute you put together. I can't believe it came out in such great condition, and very well cleaned and restored. I see people comment on why someone would throw it away, after watching a lot of documentaries, people had such bad feelings - possibly what we would call PTSD after being part of the tragedy of war - they didn't want to be reminded of it. Oh my days! I would hate to imagine, but thankful every day x

I think the white glob is probably white lead paint.

I can't help thinking about the men/boys in the photographs. I wonder how many survived the war. Tough job.

That’s my dads regiment. My dad landed on Sword beach on D day, the battle for the city of Caen, the Battle of Normandy, then up to Arnhem, Nijmegen Bridge, the battle of the bulge northern shoulder, through Belgium into Germany, then down through Germany and the liberation of Belsen concentration camp, then at wars end he guarded the river Elbe to make sure the Russians didn’t cross, as they were running rampant. They are a prestigious regiment mate. We lost him on New Year’s Day 2013, sadly missed. The Latin motto is ‘where right and glory lead’ 👍🇬🇧

Can't believe that someone once threw away that royal artillery cap badge, I'm so glad you found it and restored it so well, back as it should be,a reminder of how terrible war was and how many of those proud soldiers never returned home 👍

absolutely badge-tastic episode finding that royal artillery badge...my dad served with them in malaya in 1948 and told me loads of tales about their adventures in the jungle...not sure if you know this but during the second world war when metal was in short supply they actually made cap badges out of a primitive form of plastic instead, so you never know you might find one of those on a dig!...cheers for this episode...another great video😀👍🏻

You should stop recording when you push bottles into the ash and then say last bottle of the night...I did remember you doing a video about people accusing you of planting bottles and you said you don't do that.well you filmed yourself doing exactly that....any comments
