The "Full" 78 cards deck: • 🌷REVIEW: Botanica Taro...
Kevin J. Stanton and Beehive Books have launched a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2020 for a 78 cards edition with a lot of perks for backers. CONGRATS KEVIN!
The "full" deck was very well made with a guide book which felt inclusive to all cultures, heritage, and belief systems, without feeling excessively pandering to diversity and representations. The tone of the guide for the full deck perhaps lean more towards the metaphysical, compared to the original majors, which I do not prefer, but it never lost its original more universal plant base symbolism and stories. Which in a market too keen to cash in on the exploding trend of metaphysical herbs, the theme felt like a safe space for someone like me.
The full deck is one of the best for the year when it was finally printed. Even with the quality control hiccups, Beehive Books is an established respectable publisher who stands behind their products, so things were quickly rectified.
The packaging and the book were tastefully done. We were thankfully spared the tacky over the top and obvious branding of most tarot decks with a plain, elegant, and understated black and gold hardcover handbook and box instead. There were simply hints of dandelions scattered tastefully here and there. The content of the book cheekily plays on the term "reversal" by literally reversing the printing of a segment of its content in a way that forces you to reverse the book to read the other section. The bag was lush, and the included pins were charming addition to the whole package. It was a successful campaign and deservingly so for both Kevin and Beehive).

On that note, I have in fact ordered a copy from Beehive Books because I want the guide to the majors 😅Also, I think there were some cutting / printing errors with some copies of the deck that people might already be contacting Beehive Books about. I can only hope I will receive a good copy 😁 Nice to see you again here! I am now largely on my other channel TWO MICE ON MY BOOKSHELF diving into other arts and crafts.

And ah, thank you for buying the full deck - I found your reasoning for not wanting the full thing really interesting and personal though, and in a way it's a big compliment for how I began the deck! (But yes, there have been some frustrating issues with printing on the deck, but Beehive is replacing any damaged decks for no charge thankfully, and are getting to the bottom of how it happened in the first place!)

I just warched your tdm type 1 vs type 2. Sorry for posting here but it was 2 years old. I know your interest in the history. The type 2 strength cards are called La Force are misleading type 1 are Force no feminine prefix La. Reason being it's Hercules and Queen Omphale. Look at Visconti,Mantegna and ferrara for verification. Hope your familar with the trials of Hercules as well. Hercules killed the Nemean lion and wore the skin for armour. Smashed the pillars and swapped clothes with Omphale.

Mat Lestat Thank you for that! You should feel free to comment on old videos because I do get notifications on them (and when YT failed to alert they fail across the board so doesn’t matter how old a video is).
I had no idea there was an indie version of this deck. I did back this one at the basic level. Most of the stretch goals went to the higher levels, and a couple of people who had backed at higher levels canceled their pledges in protest, basically because as they said 50% of the backers were being left out of most of the perks/stretch goals. Considering they took in almost 3/4 of $1M US, it created some hard feelings. But the art looks amazing. The deck is due to ship in November.

Oh? How do you mean? Sorry I don't quite understand the hard feelings since higher amount of money committed set to receive more perks seems to be standard practice no.....? I am excited for everyone. I am not sure how effective these cards will be as "tarot". But as images to self reflect with and to seek insight, the majors have been effective for me personally.

@@NobodyHere Well, with most of the campaigns I've backed, any stretch goals that are met are usually given to all pledge levels that backed for a physical copy of the deck (excluding people who just back at $1 or $10 with no reward). With this one at my level I get no pins or cloth, or a couple other things. I'm not really sure what I do get, honestly, apart from the deck itself, and the book which I paid for. I agree, I'm not really sure how well these will "read" as Tarot either, but the art is so beautiful I knew I'd be sorry if I didn't get it!

At least for me. I would be keen to see how the 78 cards work for people. I am excited for all of you! And of course for the creator too!
