Being able to access the 2011 sonic cd menu and the leftovers of mighty and ray in blue spheres really makes sonic origins seem like it’s a prototype or a beta of a finished game

@@doubt2022 Un-fun fact, I had to pay $40 for the base game, $5 each for both DLC’s, and $10 extra for Plus (Which has both previous DLC) and base Origins price dropped by $10, so I technically payed full price $60 :(

At 8:38 if you look really close right before the origins menu pops up you can actually see the letters "E" and "O" at the side of the screen so there is apparently some sort of game over screen still present

I assume that when it comes to Tails having 0 lives, its an old computer tech thing, where normally the Lives going down to 0 would initiate a game over, but since you started on 0, when you die, it would loop back to the max number (Such as 255, or 999, or even past 1000). And since the game is never meant to show that much lives, there's no graphic.

Because the life loss routine deducts a life then checks to see if you have zero. In 8-bit unsigned, 0 - 1 = 255. Games where your life count counts your EXTRA lives usually check if you have zero, and if NOT, then deduct 1 and respawn, otherwise Game Over.

this is exactly it, in the original games if you died with 0 lives, the counter *would* show a glitched character, starting with "y5" and changing to various other letter/number/glitchy symbol combinations as the lives decrease

That Knuckles Boss Rush bug happened to me too with Tails back before Plus came out. What's funnier is that SEGA didn't even bother to fix it, judging by how you were able to do it with Plus so easily 😭

I love how you have to use a bug just to have lives in 16:9 ratio

Actually these glitches seem to only happen if you're using a Boss Rush save from a previous version prior to patching it to Plus.

This really goes to show that this game wasn’t made with much care due to sega and the Holliday release

The characters dying indefinitely (Knuckles and Tails) and the Tails' lifes not ending even if started on 0, the glitchy blue spheres look like something straight out of a creepypasta not gonna lie-

To be honest, they should have included Mighty and Ray in Sonic Origins +.

some of these bugs give of creepypasta stories vibes like playing like usual but something goes wrong and things are not the usual

I felt uneasy with the moments where there was no hud.

Been like this since any patch dropped. If you continue a boss rush save from a previous patch it breaks a bunch of things. If you overwrite with new patch data, it's fine.

Incidentally, another difference between accessing Blue Spheres (or New Blue Spheres) by either the main menu or S3&K's Level Select is that the latter will actual retain the progress the player has made through the 2,000,000 levels. Odd little hidden bonus, but appreciated I suppose. The Blue Sphere character selection on display there sure is kooky. I'd wonder if "& Knuckles Mode" was a thing if that'd include having Sonic/Tails/Knuckles/Amy with their Knuckles partner in the Blue Sphere stages, though apparently that remnant might've just been changing the partner character ID to Knuckles or something from what I've heard? IDK. Would explain why there's a Knuckles piloting the Tornado sprite that goes unused. Would've been a neat option to mix and match characters in Blue Sphere, or at least have classic Sonic & Tails outside the main game. Maybe if there was a Blue Sphere editor or something where things just got crazy.

The fact that you can plau origins in widescreen and with lives is insane

my favourite thing to do is downgrade origins to 2.0.1 and mess with bugs

I actually remember accidentally finding out how to access the old 2011 sonic cd menu in origins before this video was uploaded.

If you went to sonic CD ver 0.02 and did the i’m outta here you go through everything and then you lose a life as if you fell in a bottomless pit

I think this was something to do with the change from Origins to Origins Plus, because the same thing happened to me, but I haven't been able to recreate it. If I wanted to, I'd probably have to delete the Plus DLC and reinstall it, but that could cause some kinda problems with my game, so I don't wanna risk it.

Fun fact about that bug at 11:56 This used to be a glitch with the mobile port of sonic 1 in the exact same way, knuckles would just die in the credits

I think the level select in boss rush for sonic 2 is reading code outside of where it's supposed to to figure out stuff like rings and placement

ive experienced boss rush bugs 7 days after plus released. ive experienced a different sonic 1 bug where i chose amy and i could play the full ghz act 1 and when i beat it, i just got softlocked so i had to restart the game

I never played the game but I already know glitchy it was because thanks the reviews of it, and I have an hypothesis of what's going on, the ones that when you enter an zone including the ones that there's time already passed and there's already a special amount of rings? those are the last time of the developers played those classic games before modding them for the Boss Rush mode. (B.T.W the best way I can describe the difference between theories and hypothesis that hypothesis are theories with little to no evidence and theories are hypotheses with evidence.) [Edit: I added "including" because speak to text didn't pick that up somehow.]

in sonic cd it doesn't only spell out sonic 2 zone names.. sometimes it spells out other things,like instead of the word (emerald hill)on the top, it spells out the word (cool),and under it it spells out other words that are probably unreadable

Yeah.. I just rechecked it and it shows some text that is readable and taken from the sonic 2 special stages as they say"rings to go" or"not enough rings"and more things like that,but the main thing is that any text that appears could be from sonic 2 no matter what it is.

I wish there was a mod that allows you to force a certain character as your partner character so you could finally play as SonAmy.

On a repeat playthrough, I often try a lot of games with the music off.

For me, a glitch I had was whenever you loose in the boss rush, just go back to the menu screen and continue your rush, and it continues at the boss you died at instead of restarting the whole run

Yeah, i definitely used this trick to cheat most of the Boss Rushes. Though i'm not sure if it's a glitch, or simply an oversight

I was waiting for the video to be revealed as a creepypasta at some point.

I think the reason beating any boss finishes the gauntlet is because they pull up an act clear screen, which boss gauntlet bosses don't pull up until the last boss, as far as the game is concerned boss rush is one act that let's you save at checkpoints

it seems that the locations of the player are randomized, since i used Tails for Sonic 2, and I got the staff credits.

I had experienced the CD 2011 menu screen from boss rush. I recorded a video on the switch to keep the metadata of the date it occurred in case someone would dig that up

I managed to get myself into mission mode with mode after placing a signpost in the bonus stage in Sonic 3.

7:35 made me think about the glitch where if you have 1 life and 0 rings and die to a boss in boss rush (i think boss rush only) would make you have inf lifes, it was a accidental glitch i found but then i liked it. pretty sure it happened at the end of spring yard’s

I discovered the bug but not that image. I just kept going to the title screen.

You normally can't get 0 lives since you die when hitting 0, so dying with 0 causes the game over check to fail and puts you at -1 lives, which doesn't display, sonic would have had that happen if you didn't collect lives, and tails would have had a game over if you collected lives with him

This boss rush glitch is so strange and cool and finding the leftovers of sonic CD's mobile manual and menu screen plus seeing the game start loading characters into random spots is beyond funny and creepy but overall weird glitch and sega making a mistake

in the sonic 1 boss rush i got a strange glitch where i lost 2 lives at the same time with only 1 life remaining, which caused the game to freak out, and gave me (presumably) infinite lives.

9:55... No I mean 9:25 If only Sonic.exe knows about that.

This happened to me today, i didn't even do anything, i have Sonic Origins without the "Plus" DLC, i played for a bit and then the game close because an error and now my data is damage.😅 Good Job SEGA.👍

After completing and restarting my tails save after beating egg scortcher mk2, I beat boss rush again and...it didn't work, so I went to my cleared knuckles save and...wow same effect as tails, I went through, and got a chaos emerald from a different checkpoint post(don't know if that's important), and spawned in a different part of hill top
