    Ive tried treble boosters, tubescreamers, fuzzes with the volume rolled down, distortions....the Blues Driver beat all of them. The most organic drive I've heard in a pedal.

    As a kid I bought a DS-2, and used it at my first big gig. At the time I didn’t understand gain staging and so the pedal fell out of use… as times gone on and I’ve become a professional musician I’ve realized just how useful all these boss pedals are! I’m going to be buying a lot more of them going forward.

    Its my favorite non specialized amp in a box. Its just so good. Probably picking up my first today. Its insane how it goes from bluesy light breakup to smooth overdrive, to distortion, and then ultra cranked fuzz

    Ive been playing for years, but whats gain staging?

  • @BrettSmithDaniels

    @BrettSmithDaniels

    7 ай бұрын

    @@AbangPete basically it’s the concept of applying gain to your signal at different stages in your signal chain. I’ve learned since my first use of the DS series that you’re best to feed a distortion pedal into *either* an already slightly overdriven amplifier or, if given the luxury, an overdrive pedal (if running into a clean amplifier) - it has to do with how the distorted signal is processed, if it’s being fed into something slightly overdriven - it tames the harsher frequencies in the tone and slightly compresses the signal which produces a richer sound ☺️… I’m a big ol’ nerd with this stuff haha
