Coming back to this a year later, the Tribit Stormbox Micro came out and settled the argument hands down - sound of the Bose (if not slightly better) and price of the Sony = Power

Tribit micro is a better choice. The xb23 looks good but doesn't sound that good for it's size at all.

with sony going this close to bose with half of its price..for me sony clearly wins..

No, the bass is the same

Bose may have won in the sound department, but sony wins way ahead in the battery department, with a whooping 16 hours on a single charge against the bose's 6 hours.

Bose is also twice as expensive, but in this video it sounds better in my ears. I love bass btw :p

I had this Sony but it wouldn't bpair again to my phone. Took it back. It did sound good when it paired at first. I bought the Bose color and the Sony 23. Both great speaker. Sony has the base. Bose has the clarity with the right amount of loudness. I kinda want the bose mine for my purse.

Best comparison review on the net.. Both are great speakers. If you want one high quality water proof speaker go Bose. If you want stereo pair for great value, purchase a second Xb12. I own two myself.. A quality Eq preamp app can be game changer for Xb12. The speaker can also be positioned directionally, when on its side or how you hang it... so paired with a second speaker, in stereo mode its really nice! Some people also want a low volume speaker.. My bose revolve plus has noise at low volumes.. It's meant to be played at decent volume levels. Find out what your needs are. If you have the money, get two Bose sl micos and live a minimal life :)or get two xb12 when they are on sale :) as a single speaker on its own.. Meh..

Bose sounds very perfect and balance. I m using Sony srs b12, what I came to know about Sony the sounds get reduce when you maximize the volume to the higher due to deep bass. And I must admit it shakes at alot all coz of bass.

You actually have to hear these one after the other for real not just in a video, no matter how well made. I went into the store today with a totally open mind, and the Bose blows the Sony clean out of the water. They don't even compare and aren't even in the same league. My girlfriend's unprompted reaction to the Sony after listening to the Bose was "It sounds tinny!" and I had to agree. If budget is your prime consideration then go for the mediocre Sony sound. I decided to pay a bit more and get the Bose after hearing it for real. I just cannot believe the sound that comes out of such a small speaker.. Yes, it does distort at full volume (and so do most speakers unless they are deliberately underpowered) but you have to remember this is a really small unit and not designed to have a hall filling sound. That being said it's not exactly quiet either and you can get excellent, fully rounded and balanced sound at quite high volumes. I love my little Bose Micro.

Thanks once again dlx, I agree with your conclusion and analysis..I'll find out how much the bose sl price. The distortion was minimal. But overall. sound.. the bose sl is better. I hope sony will match the sound of bose. I'm confident that sony sound engineers will come up with something.😊

Bose - 85£ & Sony - 39£ I needed speaker which will spend lot of time in my backpack and battered in the kitchen when I’m working. So it’s clearly Sony for me. Otherwise Bose, of course, sounds nicer.

At the price of Soundlink Micro, i can get XB32 from Amazon which blows the Soundlink Micro away.

the Soundlink micro has the advantage at 60% volume

Bose sounds better and it is better. I listen to my bose sl micro always in his sweet spot between 40-75% volume. Don't need to crank it all the way up, for louder listening I've got bigger speakers.

For me the bose is the winner. I can fasten it to my belt, bike, bag exctra. Plus it's been out for a while there's a lot out there on the second hand market.

I think its not about loud sound. But clarity is more important and Bose just nailed it..Price is high but in all segments Bose sounds better than other competitors.

Bass of the SL Micro a litle bit better. Highs better in srsxb 12. But, the only thing i think that is missing on srs xb12 is the mids. Mids on SL micro are extremely better than the xb12. The only thing xb12 needs is mids :)

Bose may have won, but the Sony earns points for being way less expensive. I think I paid $38 back in December, and for that price it’s not a bad deal to have as a bathroom speaker to listen to podcasts and a little music while I shit, shave, and shower. Lastly it kills the Bose Micro in battery life as the Sony lasts 16 hours on a charge compared to bose’s 8 hours.

My experience after using bose sound link In real life, sony has better sound. Bose has muffled sound especially vocal. While listening You will not be emotional as the bose does not provide sharp vocal rather than muffled vocal and overall sound. Bose does not have a thumping base also. The only good thing is bose speaker release good bass guitar sound. Certainly, You will not be able to enjoy the vocal of any classical song in bose speaker. After buying bose you will regret it. Bose used to provide good quality long ago but now It does not provide that much quality according to its price. Its expensive only its brand name Better go for sony

In my Opinion as bluetooth speaker collector, Harman Kardon always produce 1 of the best, so ya Harman Kardon. Example, Onyx Studio 5 & JBL Charge 4, both with 1 special driver but quality of the sound is, especially Bass is outstanding. 1 more thing i don't like is 360' sound bcoz doesn't have impact in front of me.

Go to Bose forums and do some homework before you buy the Bose. In my opinion Bose has some design flaws that will drive you nuts. Turns on automatic without user interaction, volume not working with certain Bluetooth devices. I returned mine.
