    But it _looks_ like they took their previous generation headphones (which were already quite great, but dated) and improved some of the only major issues. They added the USB-C charging and moved to the smoother headband, two major weaknesses of the prior headphones. The reason why is because the headband previously got super dirty and was very difficult to clean. I’ve using QC35II’s right now (old ones I’ve had for years). I’ve owned (and sold off) the NC700’s. I also own and daily drive the Sony XM4’s, so I can say that these overall features seem like a good balance. The *only major* issue I saw with Bose in general was with crappy firmware and issues switching between devices (something the XM4’s do an amazing job with). However, the Bose usually allow you to manually select which device to use, so it’s a trade off unfortunately.

    Been using QC 45 for a couple months now and thought i'd give people a heads up since I wanted to read comments like these before buying it. They feel really great, battery is really good, noise cancellation is good and i think the sound quality is good as well. With my headphones though there is a weird issue where my left side randomly starts rustling / making static noise that gets louder and louder as time goes on. Weirdly enough pressing the power slider down (normally you would slide it left to right) makes the rustling louder. And somehow once it gets really loud, the noise completely cuts out and then the headphones work as intended without any weird noises. The noise started showing up after like a month after usage and it occurs really randomly. I could send mine to repair cuz it still has warranty, but i cba because the noise can be fixed with that weird trick. Hopefully im the only one with this issue though. Apart from that i really recommend these headphones and they are definitely worth the price.

    Could it be two devices connected to the headphone via bluetooth simultaniously creating interference? I had weird noises on my 35 II that seemed to have appeared out of the blue, but it actually coincided with me pairing my headphones with my new laptop. The headphones connecting with both my laptop and phone simulatiniously was the issue and I believe it was messing up with the active EQ trying to adjust sound from two different sources.

  • @DanskuRL

    @DanskuRL

    Жыл бұрын

    @@SR-fw8og i dont think it is, the sound is so random that sometimes it occurs while on a walk, sometimes it occurs while sitting on my couch or in a classroom. It's also pretty random how the sound stops, sometimes pressing the button down snaps the headphones out of it, sometimes shaking my head snaps the headphones out of it and sometimes just presssing down the left earcup gets rid of the sound for a while. And with snapping i mean literally snapping. After it snaps the sound isnt hearable for a bit anymore. Also i feel that the longer i use these, the more likely it is for the sound to come and also harder to get rid of. I dont think it never rattles when waking up in the morning for example or turning these on after a long break. A short restart or even a hard reset doesnt get rid of the sound which worried me the first time this issue occurred, because i thought that was it and i couldnt use them anymore, but the next morning it was like nothing ever happened. And when it is not making the sound using 2 devices at once isn't an issue at all. Probably something faulty with the inner electronics that maybe gets worse once the headphones warm up after longer usage. Gonna get these replaced anyways sometime soon

    @@DanskuRL Sounds like a bad board, possibly a capacitor or something is dying on the internal amp. Probably just missed in QC because it only happens intermittently or only became an issue over time. It happens with even the best electronics. Just get them warrantied. That's a super valid claim. Make sure they know the full issue do they can do a proper FA.

    I disagree and the 700’s are uncomfortable after a short period of time. The QC’s have a cult following for a reason. I would suggest anyone in the market for headphones, make sure you test them before purchasing. The AirPods max and 700’s are very impressive looking and feel great in your hands. Wear them for an extended period of time and you will change your mind. The QC do not look or feel impressive but the overall package is outstanding. Weight is critical for long term comfort.

    how do they handle sound delay when on BT? On my QCii it's hard to watch for example guitar players on YT, because of the delay the image and sound are disconnected. Same for gaming, you need to use a wire. I know that this depends mostly on the codec used and processing power. Do QC 45 improve on that?

    Owning the NC700, the QC25 and QC35 ii already, I decided to try the Sony --XM4 when I found it on sale for Black Friday at around $229 at Best Buy. Didn't open the box for at least 10 days, before putting in time to try them out. NOPE! The setup was fine, although the earcup pressure on my head was definitely stronger than the Bose. But it was the controls, or should I say the lack of consistent functionality of the controls, that made me pack them back up. I watch the setup videos and read the manual thoroughly, activated all of the relevant features in the app. BUT! I couldn't get the swipe controls for advancing tracks to work at all. I could only get the swipe up and down on the earcup function for volume control to work less than 10% of the time. I did like the increase bass from the Sony ...XM4's. But with the NC700 touch control, which have worked flawlessly, I was not willing to handle the disfunction of the Sony ...XM4's. Fortunately by waiting a few days after Black Friday, the new Bose QC45's went on sale in the White Color, at Best Buy. So I swapped the XM4's for the Bose QC45's. Can't really tell the tonal difference between the QC45's and the QC35 ii's. BUT! Both the QC35 and QC45 seem to have a slightly stronger bass, than the NC700's. Why keep the QC35 and QC45? Simple! My travel electronics (tablet and phone) have USB-B ports. Traveling with the QC35 with its micro USB port, required that I carry an extra cable and battery. So NC700-house usage only QC35ii-out and about, they stay in the car. QC45-primarily for travel. So although I don't consider myself a brand loyalist. In the case of Bose, they work and do what they are suppose to do. NOTE- I had a pair of QC25's that would make this strange buzz. Although out of warranty, I took them to a Bose store for some help. Told the cashier the issue. She promptly gave me a 'brand new' (not refurbed) pair. She mentioned that the buzzing that I had complained about, was mentioned in some internal tech document. Been loyal Bose ever since.

  • @hundvd_7

    @hundvd_7

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@dendihndn The noise cancelling in general should be: AirPods Max > QC45 > XM4 > (other Bose sets and the XM3), but they're very close. You could easily use either one. The phone quality is specifically for phone calls (when the mic turns on, and makes the sound quality much, much worse - a simple limitation of bluetooth). So, the microphone's quality should go something like: AirPods Max > all Bose > all Sony, and the difference is definitely noticeable. So if you care about voice calls, go for Bose (or Apple, if you have infinite pockets). If you care about noise cancelling with music, either one is a good choice. My daily driver is the XM4, because it just offers more options, and I don't make voice calls.

Hard verdict. I returned the Sonys with the news that the new QCs would be coming out with USB-C charging and because of the frustrating capacitive controls - though I do think the Sony are noticeably better sound isolating (especially blocking out nearby voices) and better performers than the QC35s when it comes to music with more bass. The Bose 700s are nice - definitely more fuller sounding and better EQ options than the QCs though I couldnt do a side-by-side of the 700s with the Sonys. The larger footprint and higher pricetag kept me from owning those.

    I've own both QC35, QC 35 II and currently the Sony XM4. I switched to Sony as it was supposed to have better NC than Bose, which it did compared to the QC 35 II. However, the Sony headphones are a pain in the A. Call quality is crap (people tell me they cant hear me properly so cant use them), they constantly drop the bluetooth connection to my devices (never had an issue with Bose), they announce it's connections and disconnections constantly and most annoying of all the sensor pad somehow activates voice calling on iphones calling random people even though it's not enabled. This is apparently a known bug and the only way to stop it is deactivating the entire sensor pad on the Sony headphones - what a joke (give me the Bose manual controls anytime!!). Long story short.....going back to Bose!!

    My 700 lost its noise cancelling properties after a few months, dropping at least 30% to 40% after less than a year of daily use for about 10 hours as a writer living in a noisy environment which is unacceptable for me suffering from misophonia. I will be claiming repair, and btw, the official Bose service only repairs and does not refund money, at least in Europe. I should add that my second most important criterion for choice was battery life. The firmware update was supposed to fix issues such as losing bluetooth signal, but after the upgrade, it only got worse.

For the cost of the newer model there are others out there with more features and superior performance in the features that overlap (thinking of Sony XM4). I’ve had QC35II’s (wearing them right now), had and sold NC700’s (dumpster fire) and got Sony XM4 to replace the NC700’s and they’re essentially perfect. I've owned two of the Sony's, the QC 35, and now the QC 45. I think the Sony is the best overall, but I think the QC 35 was the most comfortable and best looking headphones I've ever had. Noise cancellation definitely better on the Sony. My reason for picking up the QC 45 was it was on sale on Amazon for $250, and in this class, that's probably the biggest deciding factor is price because they're all so close in performance and comfort that price (or brand loyalty) is what you have to go with. My first Sony and my first QC 35 both broke, my second Sony and my QC 45 are doing well.

    So, I’ve owned all of the headphones mentioned (QC35II’s, XM4’s and the NC700’s). The NC700s really frustrated me with the buggy software, but the old trusty QC35II’s were super reliable. Same with XM4 which had similar/better overall quality to the NC700’s in sound performance and almost exactly the same level of noise cancellation. The QC’s are a bit more comfortable long term due to being so lightweight, but they don’t have pass through which I like on my XM4’s (and are missing lots of features). I will say that the QC35II’s now _finally_ having a USB-C charging port is a major plus along with the updated headband. Some may see this as a bad thing, but it turns out that in all the headphones I have, the QC35II’s got *super dirty* due to the fabric. My NC700’s (which I got rid of) and the XM4’s stayed clean thanks to that smooth silicone. So based on what you said so far, it seems like a great improvement over QC35II’s and if you don’t like the XM4’s and are considering NC700 I’d personally *strongly* suggest going with the newer QC45’s instead given how bad my experiences were with the NC700. If QC45II’s could do a better job than the previous generation in handling 2x connections at the same time (e.g. the Sony is _phenomenal_ at doing this) and could add a pass through capability, then Bose would win this for sure.

I have a pair of 1000XM4's, but I work in an environment where I often need to switch between source devices, and I really missed my earlier QC35II's physical switch for device selection - switching devices with the Sonys requires either turning off BT on the other devices or firing up the app on my phone, which is a PITA. I'm loving the QC45's so far, especially since the latest firmware update has added EQ, but I really miss the QC35's ability to fast forward and rewind using the center button - a feature that is sadly (and strangely) missing on the QC45's. I have a feeling that Sony has been slowly ruining the ANC effectiveness with firmware updates as they release their new headphone. Back in 2019, I remembered trying on the demo of the then flagship XM3s in store against the NC 700s and then noise cancellation of the XM3s was able to drain out more noise and higher frequencies. Fast forward in 2022, almost 2023, my Sony has developed a static issue with one of the earbuds so I went and purchased the OG 700 based on recommendation totally expecting the ANC to be worse, but at least the static doesn't seem to be a common issue as with the Sony. To my horror, the XM3s on the latest firmware is now only about as effective as the NC 700s at between 7 and 8 on the slider... 7.5 whereas back in 2019, the Sony's I swear felt like the NC700s on overdrive... like maybe 11 or 12 on the slider if that was a thing.

The qc-45s stay connected for longer distances, so I don't have to carry my phone around the house when I move about. The sound seems pretty much the same on both, the controls are identical, and both are very comfortable. With the bluetooth 5, the qc-45s win.

    BIG COMPARISON (New and old ones): * Panasonic Technics A800 (owner) vs * Sony MX4 (tested 7 days) vs * Bose QC45 (owner) vs * Panasonic RB-M700BE (owner 5x) vs * Sony MDR-XB950 (Ex-Owner) vs * Sony WHXB910N (tested) : Every headphone has its weaknesses and its strengths : The Panasonic Technics A800 has very good sound and ANC and it's general volume and bass volume is much stronger and powerfull compared to Sony MX4 or Bose QC45. MX4 and QC45 are pretty the same in sound and ANC. QC45 has better software than MX4. The A800 software is in the level of QC45. The ANC of the Panasonic Technics A800 is much better than on Bose QC45 (And a lot of people say the QC45 has a little bit better ANC than MX4, so that means A800 has to be the best ANC on market at the moment) only exeption heavy vibrations from steps or public transportation... The Panasonic (A800 & RB-M700B) ANC has problems with that... The ANC of the RB-M700B is worse but not that much worse than the others. When ANC is deactivated the RB-M700B has the best overall sound imo ! The RB-M700B is the onyl one you think you have a subwoofer ! That's because it has a spring vibration system (bass reaktor). To listen my favorite music (genre electronic music and techno) and war games with a lot of bassy explosions I prefer to use the Panasonic RB-M700B. I really love the bass reactor vibration system very very very much !!!! It is the only one that feels like you have a 2.1 subwoofer hifi system. On the others new on market you thnink you have a bass weak 2.0 system. Also the mids and highs are good. I have a total of 5x RB-700's to be sure i got great music hp for next 10 years. Because I live at to places i want minimum 4 head phones. So this matches nicely. I hope Panasonic will continue to offer and develop headphones with bass reactor vibration system because I can't listen to techno and electronic music on head phones without a bass reactor anymore. The Sony MDR-XB950N1 Extra Bass head phones from 2017 have a bass reactor vibration system (my first head phones i had with a bass vibration system) but the new Sony WHXB910N Extra Bass from 2021 don't has a bass vibration system anymore imo. I use public transportation and have a very very very permanent noisy neighbor that is the reason I needed something more than the RB-M700B. I use the Bose QC45 for public transportation and the Panasonic Technics A800 for watching TV or silent video games at home when the neighbour is very loud (the A800 can better reduce noises from neighboor than the QC 45, bassy step noises and others).

    If you _already_ have QC-35i's, QC-35ii's, WF-1000XM3's or WF-1000XM4's, I can't see a compelling reason to switch (maybe apart from being able to connect to 2x bluetooth devices vs the WF-1000XM3's, but the XM4's can do that). The main change is slightly improved noise cancelling vs the QC-35ii's (and slightly improved battery life) and USB-C vs the the previous two QC-35 headphones, but both pairs of Sony's I've listed come with more advanced features (and EQ), while the MK1 and MK2 QC-35 models undercut the QC-45 for price and are not much worse in sound or ANC. Also, they _still_ use a semi-proprietary 3.5mm to *2.5mm* headphone jack (2.5mm end on the headphones), which just makes them more inconvenient to maintain (e.g. if the supplied cable gets lost of damaged) long term.

Doing this while wearing the Sony’s caused the noise cancellation to ‘whoosh’, interrupting and kind of ruining the music and killing immersion. No matter how “nice” and “audiophile” adjusted the Sony’s are, (and I am an audiophile) this just makes them absolutely worthless to me. I also noticed a clear comfort improvement on the QC45’s compared to the 35 ii’s. Hurt my wallet, but easily worth the pain.

    Bose ditched the "low" ANC setting from the qc35 in the qc45, which eliminated wind noise. Now on the qc 45 you can't turn off ANC. This is insane, as it was one of the most useful features on the 35, maybe depending where you live. The 700s are bad with wind noise too. I find it weird, that they make ANC headphones which can't be used in many outdoor scenarios, and no reviewer mentions this.

    That sucks. If you didn’t know, the Sony 1000X line has a wind noise reduction mode, and on the WF-1000XM4, it can automatically switch between full ANC and wind noise reduction ANC when it detects wind noise.

    I use the passthrough capability on my XM4’s very regularly, particularly when working and I need to talk to someone (the XM4’s/XM3’s even support cupping your hand over the right ear to temporarily lower music and enable passthrough).

    @@patricknelson the pass through on Sony is so bad. It is so artificial sounding. I find useless when ordering a coffee. With Bose no need to take my headphone off. Just press a button.

    If, while listening to the QC35II headphones, I turned off the noise reduction. And when I turn on the headphones next time, the noise canceling is automatically turned on too and I have to turn it off every time I turn on the headphones?

    Saying the 700 is more natural sounding is the most objectively wrong thing I've ever heard Extremely V-shaped, very very sharp. I've used all 3 and even compared the frequency graph between the 3. The qc45's are by far the most natural
