The tone of Angelina's vocals is so exquisite it just jumps out at you, especially when you listen to other singers first. She is barely 12 yo in this & she is already leaps & bounds ahead of all the others, including Lana!

I try to listen to other versions of songs that she sings but quickly lose interest because Angelina's voice,I think cannot be matched!

Alan, your videos introduce me to many artists I have never heard before and I enjoy that. When I learned of Angelina, nearly 4 years ago, I listened to every song I could find by her. Doing so, led me to listen to the original artist for each cover Angelina performed. I learned of many new artists, including Lana Del Rey. I still listen to a wide variety of music and seek out new artists, but when I return to listen to Angelina, I am even more convinced she is my all time favorite.

Let's not forget that Angelina here has 12-13 Lana was 30 years old.

This is one of my favorite Angelina cover songs. She doesn't make is sound sad and depressing. Such a beautiful voice!

If your goal is in trying match a true specialist in the genre of jazz, which is the ultimate form of emotion laden singing, you are not going to accomplish it if you're a non-jazz singer. In fact , if you want to come close to Angelina's rendition, it would be wise to be a jazz singer on the level of Angelina's musical mentor, the great Billie Holiday.

Thanks Alan! I've not listened much to AJ's covers of Lana, or Lana's music itself, i think for the very reason you mentioned - preferring music that is joyful or uplifting. That being said - Angelina for me has a way of finding and expressing beauty even in darker songs, in a way that brings joy, if that is not too contradictory!

I liked most of these short snippets. It's rewarding to look for no-names playing small venues. Best news, I'm now looking at the actual weather forecast for my drive from Wyoming to Vegas! Mother nature always has the final input. Plus on day one, I get to see VOCTAVE at BYU and Angelina on day seven. Bryce and Zion Nat parks in between. That's a great week!

Happy or sad, frenetic or depressive, it all can be art, whether it be the mood sonic arrangement, or poetic lyrics in a suitable melodic ride, telling a story,,, it is all art, preferred or not, by any listener, IMHO

Angelina’s soft and warm tones fill the song with hope that there’s more than the words express. I love listening to her singing this song. I can’t say that of the others. Thank you Alan for your choice of artists and also for including my doubts when I first heard the song 🤔. Was anyone else puzzled by her new mic not showing her mouth?

I like Angelinas rolling melody, much more pronuenced than other singers.

I agree about music; I like it uplifting. One way that can be wonderful is to have the song start with some difficulty and we hear how the person transformed the situation into something empowering and beautiful.

Hi Alan. I believe your comment about art preferentially emanating from joyous aspiration or fulfillment potentially excludes most of Shakespeare’s cannon , literary and cinematic masterpieces such as ‘ all quite on the western front’ , ‘taxi driver’ , ‘blade runner’ and of course, Neville Shute’s ‘ on the beach’. I think much of art is informed by one’s struggle with adversity in all its forms , sometimes resulting in an uplifting denouement( the shawshank redemption) or in tragedy (life is beautiful).

I think Lana writes some interesting songs but no “classics”. The songs are too repetitive for me. Her voice has more of a monotone quality to it with a limited range. The young blond untethered girl has a clean voice but no impact. Angelina has that soulful lower range with her famous rasp that we all love. When she hits the chorus and the bright inflections I melt. Thank you Alan

Hi Alan. Ok, I'm biased but please have mercy. They were all in tune on the right pitch . They were all flat like a flat tire. Boring. I almost fell asleep. Do you think they know the word " nuance"? Even Lana was poor. Her videos were all engineeried whit effects and vocal background. Angelina is sitting on a chair whit a karaoke sort of back up and shows more passion,power,understanding of the song that not even Lana, I think, has. Her world tour's is just starting. She's going to come in Europe soon. I rely on you to keep me posted on where and when. Maybe we'll meet again. 👍👏❤️

To me, it sounds like Lana was on some sort of drugs throughout the three performances. Perhaps she intended for it to sound that way, but I didn't care for Lana's version. Angelina, as usual, hit it out of the ballpark.

No criticism but a pre-teen Miss AJ voice really stands out against all of the other artists and singers. Especially the original artist. There is no comparison.

With certain settings, on a quality display, you cab see her mouth.

Not surprisingly I prefer AJ's version of a song that I really don't enjoy as it is too much of a "downer."

Anybody who knows Angelina´s voice, KNOW that it IS her singing, without even looking at the video. If you doubt it, you don´t know what she´s capable of. Btw, I found most of the other´s versions boring or horrible. Angelina´s version reaches way into your soul.

IMO, the original song by Lana Del Rey has numerous references to Christianity and/or Catholicism, and perhaps especially references to Good Friday, the day that Jesus died before his resurrection on Easter Sunday. I don't know if this was intentional or somewhat accidental by Del Rey or what her reasoning was for this. It is a rather depressing song. Also note that in Del Rey's original video, it was filmed in a privately-owned Catholic chapel (or at least not owned by the Catholic Church). It was filmed in Trinity Chapel at the Palace of Fontainebleau in France. I'm not sure what to make of this. But all of the references are unlikely coincidental.
