That's really awesome, and as an aside that really highlights just how good the musicians are that back the singers. They really do need to be able to play just about anything on the spot, including what is probably often vague directions (although I'm sure Angelina's aren't), and they kill it every time.

I love the way the guitarist played it. All that controlled tremolo or whatever the effect was absolutely elevated the performance. She sings the song at her live performance in Norway a couple of years ago with a different guitarist and while great, it just wasn't as impactful. This was far and away my favourite version of this song ever.

You actually saw her grow up before your eyes! You spoke about her artistic qualities besides her one-in-a-trillion voice and what also needs to be thought about is the poise and confidence she exhibits whenever she is on stage. We're talking about a 7 and 8 year old kid! And, like the judge said during the last segment, she made him cry and that she touched him inside. That's important because that's what she's all about, she's all about love and it started when she was 7 years old! Her talent is there for everybody to see but also there and not quite so obvious is the aura which surrounds her, 'who she is', and it is a genuine feeling of love in your heart when you think of her or listen to her sing 'for you'. Most of us say that the feeling of love inside us is something different, something we have never felt like before in our lives.

I believe the competition lasted 6 months, so her teeth were growing the whole time, as was her talent, since each song was better than the one before. Now at 18, she is the best vocalist/song arranger that I've ever seen or heard.

I believe they started taping the show in the fall, they started airing the show in January, but they didn’t start live shows until spring and I believe it ended in May of 2014. Just like AGT Champions, they taped Angelina’s performances in the fall when she was still 13 and started airing the Show just before her birthday in January, that’s why they needed to fudge her age when she won Norway’s Got Talent saying she was 7 when she won so it would correspond with her being 13 when she was on AGT Champions.

@@nfpnone8248 But who would have cared if she had actually answered Heidi's question correctly, and said she won the show at 8? She was still 13 when the first episode aired. And it's not like AGT tried to keep it a secret that the shows were pre-taped. That information was stated in articles at the time. In fact, intentionally giving the wrong age like you are suggesting would have been a monumentally stupid thing to do, anyway, since it is very easy to verify that she was 8 for most of the NGT competition. Her age was repeatedly given in articles during her run on the show, and was announced (as being 8) in the final episode, just before she performed. The "cost-benefit" of intentionally putting out false information like that just doesn't make any sense. I think it is far more likely that Angelina simply misheard Heidi's question (as "How old were you when you were on?" rather than "… when you won?" - i.e., that she was being asked when she first went on the show), or even that she misremembered, confusing the age when she started with the age when she finished, because she, personally, doesn't actually care how old she was at various points in her career. (Consider also that in a pre-show interview, the interviewer began with: "So, you are the winner of _Norway's Got Talent_ , and you were 7 years old when you won". So, I blame him.😉)

A child prodigy and musical genius at 8 years old ! That about says it all ! Age has got nothing to do with it. Angelina as everyone has said is an old soul and many believe is inhabited by the jazz greats that have been her mentors since she was in the crib with the likes of Billie Holiday, Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, and Frank Sinatra and with the modern mentors like Adele, Amy Winehouse, Whitney Houston, Norah Jones, and even the great Elvis Presley. Angelina is a combination of all these great voices in to one and she's able to project any one of them with all the nuances. Inflections , dynamics and control, riffs and runs that she wants at any time because it's part of her DNA. As many have said Angelina could sing this phone book and make it sound fabulous. I think we're just getting to the edge of what she really will be and now at 18 her voice is so much more mature if you can believe it. And Republic records are now slowly bringing her into the limelight of main Street music. One thing that will stay for sure. Angelina is loved by her fans or angels all over the world because she is a humble, sincere, compassionate and loving soul ! This has not changed since she was a little child and now 18 she is still the same wonderful person that she's always been. That's why we love her so much. Angelina is family to us and we are very protective of her , as is her family and Republic Records. She has introduced a new genre of music called "jazz/ pop" and I think the combination will rock the world in the coming years. I want to thank you wholeheartedly for this magnificent compilation of Norway's Got Talent songs that you reacted to. Keep posting my friend. If you watch the last song on an individual video, you will see them announce the winner, etc. So fun! Thanks for joining we Angels and recognizing Angelina’s unique talents and abilities. One detail-when Angelina was 5 she told her mother she wanted to be on this show, but Mom found out that she had to be 7 to compete. She waited two more years, honed her craft, picked her songs (obviously) and prepared for the contest. Her work ethic has always been incredible, as you can tell. Also, about arranging, there are You Tube videos out there of practice sessions for this contest with the musicians you would love. Remember, she started with the audition at age 7, and as you saw from her teeth growing, she turned 8 before the final. Now at 17, she has been able to fulfill another dream of hers-to sing for the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony. Again, it is obvious she has worked hard over the years to accomplish this as well, gaining permission from the Director of the Norwegian KORK Orchestra to arrange her performance.

It has been almost 4 years since I learned about Angelina and I don't cry as often now as I once did, when listening to her, but watching this video got me reaching for a tissue. I think part of it, was your reaction, as I could tell Angelina was touching you emotionally. The second round of NGT, was the Judge's Cut round, where contestants were required to sing a cappella, unless they also played an instrument. Too many singers had passed their audition, so this round narrowed the field. You're spot on about the song/arrangement choices she made. There is a video of her covering a Shirley Bassey song, "I Who Have Nothing" when she is younger than the "Gloomy Sunday" performance and she exhibits more power and range that she did in any of these, so she was capable of much more than she showed here. Omer Bhatti, the judge that talked to her when she first went on stage did a brief interview on Norwegian TV about Angelina about two years after her NGT appearance. It's really interesting and only about three and a half minutes: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nG162Ztwc87cl5c.html It has English subtitles, but you have to have CC turned on.

"I Put a Spell on You" was my first AJ reaction, so no convincing needed after that one!

It's a common misperception that Rusty's list would hold every performance. It in fact only by design gives one example for each song title she did. So from the 30+ occasions of her doing Flying To The Moon, with many different accompaniment ranging from single guitar over small jazz band, big band, to full orchestra, there is just exactly one example in the list. And for some songs, he only included a 15 second teaser, even though the full version is available on KZread by now. And he did not update his list since late August '23, now missing 8 song titles already. I have both chronological and A-Z indices of her relevant performances, both hold more than 400 performances. There are not complete, as I e.g. do not each TikTok snippet of it isn't a new song or otherwise significant, but it's much more complete than Rusty's list.

The fact that you and Rusty have both done this much work compiling and sharing these song lists, whether individual representations of each song or all versions, really speaks to AJ's quality. Most artists don't even get a single person to go those lengths, nevertheless multiple people (as I'm sure there are others!)

You didn't pick it up but if you re-watch "Summertime" you'll see her glance over at the trumpet player when he misses his cue and doesn't come in on the first trumpet break just shows how aware even this young of her ability to memorize not only the vocal parts but the instruments also and the older male judge produced her first 2 albums (definitely the first not sure of the second) and the younger is still a family friend attends many home events especially when she still lived in Oslo but since she moved to LA not sure if he attends .

Everything she has done since age 7 is amazing. That said i think you will enjoy this short interview and performance of unchained melody from a bit after NGT. Could not find 1 video with both parts. kzread.info/dash/bejne/X5d3rqaSYKa5ips.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/qYSar9yGlaWyktI.html

Angelina recorded "I'm a Fool to want You" at the age of 12 for her first album. It is an amazing jazz performance, she absolutely channels Billy Holiday. This video taken by her Grandma has the studio audio overlaid. kzread.info/dash/bejne/hXusksajiLe-gc4.html

Thanks for using my playlist. I have to admit, even I feel the "loss" of having no judges' comments after the third performance ("Bang Bang"), but I chose that particular video for that round because the only video out there that has good English captions for the judges' comments isn't particularly good for the performance itself (being in the wrong aspect ratio and having little glitches here and there, as if multiple clips were stiched together). But if you want to watch it "off-camera" to see what the judges said, the video is titled "Angelina Jordan - Bang Bang - Subtitled for people outside Norway!" and was posted by John Kjetil Johannessen. Anyway… the performances themselves are, of course, the most important thing, so I'm glad you have now heard those. After you do more of her at later ages, you should consider going "all the way back" to a video of her singing (parts of) "I WIll Always Love You" at 1½. It is a fascinating mixture of more-or-less what you might expect from someone so young and the complete opposite: things that you wouldn't think are even possible at that age. It hits hardest, I think, once you've seen some of what I call her "live at home" videos on her CoverChannel, where she sings accompanied by either of two guitarists she has worked with the most (in Norway and in the U.S., respectively). Those videos are usually one-take affairs, with very little preparation and (apparently) no post-production. The reason I think you should see some of those first is, there are very specific things she does when she sings that I think are best illustrated in those videos, and can be recognized as already being present in baby Angelina. (Plus, the video I'm alluding to - called "NEW: Angelina Jordan singing with Grandma Mery (Age one and a half)" [followed by some hashtags] - was literally her first "live at home" cover ever recorded, with no one at the time having any idea what lay ahead.🤗)

Great reaction, Dad! The performances are all great in their own right, but I love seeing the whole journey and the amazing development she shows just in the space of one show. I'm already subscribed and looking forward to what comes next! I'll vote for her America's Got Talent: The Champions cover of Bohemian Rhapsody. It got a congratulatory tweet from the members of Queen! Here's a handy link: kzread.info/dash/bejne/o3pkrLhraNnNfNo.html

@@DadDaughtersandDrinks I DO understand. That cover of Bohemian Rhapsody is pretty all right, isn't it? I'll change my recommendation to her cover of Suspicious Minds. She and her accompanist, 2-time Grammy winner Rob Christie, completely re-imagine that song. Amazing.
