lol reminds me of when 8-track was state of the art. I was in my early teens. Sorry you guys missed it those were much better times except for no internet...I Noticed again you liking that bass. So again I'll recommend Grand Funk "Black Licorice" for some killer bass lines (and a funny lookin' bass player). Oh yteah it's all around a great song. The drummer is singing and never met a roll he doesn't like! Check this vid out I can't wait for your reaction! kzread.info/dash/bejne/qZ1525WnktDQlJc.html

There's such a wealth of stuff out there waiting for an audience, especially in the underground scenes (Sun Kil Moon, Father John Misty, and maybe even Mac DeMarco), and even a bunch of stuff from the past as well that goes overlooked sadly (like the Velvet Underground, Captain Beefheart, or Can). The last time I was there, about twenty years ago, my girlfriend and me were sitting with our feet dangling over the edge of the bluff, taking in the beautiful view, when a hawk came gliding by not more that ten feet in front of us. It gave the tips of its wings just a little flap, but we both heard it. Gave us chills.

I was a little concerned when, after your last CCR reaction vid, a lot of people (me included) were asking for "Born On The Bayou" next. It's because of its simplistic, don't take it too seriously vibe that I wondered if you two would find it not interesting enough, maybe too repetitious. Is it because I've been hearing it for over fifty years and don't really sit down and take everything in anymore? I still hear all of the cool nuances it dishes up, from the cowbell to John's little three syllable vocalizations at the end of the verses. But maybe I take all of that for granted, now. After watching you two have eargasms over it, and bobbing my head along with yours, I'm starting to get that certain tingle that washes through you when something special is played. This song is something special.

They didn't realize till we began coming home from Vietnam, this is some of the stuff we listed to, the other by them Run Through the Jungle, their version of Susie Q is way different. Not like so many who ran up to Canada to dodge the draft. We got into it before JFK, he was going to pull us out, then LBJ took over after Kennedy was killed, and this war was part of the reason. But LBJ increased the American Troops by hundreds of thousands while in office. The problem was, we could have easily won that war, but LBJ wanted it to keep going, the longer the war, the more money the US made in goods and weapon sales. For us, we were just following orders, when I got home, I made sure everyone know LBJ was a war criminal, and we told the world just that.

The more things change… the more the things stay the same. In a way, because of LBJ, we’re still in the mess that we’re in today. It’s just a continuation of what happened in the past. I personally think that JFK was shot because he was putting us on a gold standard (LBJ, Nixon, & Bush literally NAILED that), & I think that there was a mafia connection with the CIA & the mob. JFK a year before he was killed put a lot of taxes on the unions, & I don’t think that went over too well. But looking at what’s happening in 2020-21, it’s almost like a repeat of what was happening then (in some ways) with the posturing & everything else.

You all are catching on! You've reacted to numerous great songs, but you haven't even gotten close to all the others out there from the late 60's thru the 70's! They will keep coming!

lets face it, they'd have to do a couple of songs a day 5 or 6 days a week to begin to truly make a dent in ALL the great music of the 60s, 70s, and early eighties. time these college boys don't have.

Your absolutely right flubblert! I was considering some of your math numbers when I wrote my initial comment! There are many bands I haven’t even seen mentioned as suggestions in all the past comments from all their previous reviews! Two great guys enjoying music like we did in the early to mid 70’s college days!

Z Z Top - La Grange. But my personal favorite by Z Z Top is "Got Me under pressure." This is the one I would suggest you listen to. Some nasty, hard-hitting rhythm and licks in that song.

I particularly recommend ZZ Top's live videos from their 1980 Rockpalast performance. This is them at their blues-rock best, before they broke REALLY big in the 80s (and got a little more commercial). La Grange is a blues guitar standard, and Just Got Paid is also tremendous at this performance.

I recall an interview with Fogerty once where someone asked him where he gets that distinct style of singing from, coming as he does from California. He made no bones about the fact that he was going for older black southern blues guy. I'm not sure he quite got there, but damn if he didn't create a completely original sound all his own in the process. No one sounds quite like him.

My two favorites from CCR are, "I Put a Spell on You," and "I Heard it Through the Grapevine." Both are covers, but they really do it right. You should give both a listen even if you don't choose to react to them. Loving watching you enjoy the music I grew up on. If you want something swampy, try Canned Heat! "On the Road Again," "Marie Laveau," or many others from them. Dr, John is another musician that has more than a little swamp, and New Orleans in his music. Enjoy your journey!
