Hurricane is past and I am back in the shop making videos. Had to run the house with the generator so shop was dark. Guess I better get busy getting the detroit diesel 3 phase generator up and running so I can power the entire workshop. Thanks for watching.

I give tips when the occasion presents itself. The plateau brush is the best step you can take to final prep your cylinder for the piston. Glad to have long time viewers like yourself who enjoy the videos. Thanks for the support.

Brian, Thank-you so much for this explanation of how to bore a cylinder. I've wondered for years, and you did a great job clearly explaining it. You really are helping a lot of people, whether you realize it or not. Like is so often the case with school teachers, you don't often get thanked, but your work is important, and quietly appreciated.

Thanks for the comment Bill. I try to help people and try to keep them from making mistakes. You can't believe the things that show up in my shop. I hope there are some younger folks who learn something from my channel and take off on their own. Brian

Great video Brian! I have a question...do you still use the torque plate when using the honing machine to tension the block?

What is the magic trick to removing head studs? My L134 just will not release its hold on them. I got 2 of the 15 out but man even after a two weeks soak in Kroil they wont move. Using a Lisle stud remover (piece of junk) wont remove them. Double nutting fails as the nuts wont lock enough to keep from moving both nuts when turning the lower one counter clockwise. Even tried the candle wax trick by gradually heating the block at the stud base then apply the candle wax. They are stuck. My next attempt will be a MatCo stud remover from the SR202 kit. Any ideas?

Don't try to reuse your head studs. Get a big pipe wrench low on the stud and back them out. Drill out the ones that break, and install new studs when reassembling the engine.

You always seem to be working solo, making body panels, body and paint, rebuilding drivetrain and engines... how on earth do you get it all done?

  • @metalshaperJeep

It is tough working alone sometimes but I have been doing if for so long it I am used to figuring out how to do things. The biggest thing that was a pain to work on alone was the paint booth. Installing the ridge, setting the rafters, and installing the metal roofing took much longer alone..... but I got it done anyway. Thanks for watching.
