@@geolessel that would be so great! Want to make the right decision and I saw your video today and the battery life although I thought I wouldn't care that much seems to be really bad. Charging about every day seems too much. That with the lighter screen seems to be the better choice

This is great. Thanks! I have been looking for this side by side comparison but there are very few actual reviews of the Note Air 3, non-color. The NA3 contrast and brightness look better and I can't see the resolution difference. I'm looking forward to a more detailed review! I have the NA3, NA3C and Supernote A6X2 on my shortlist. This NA looks to be what I want!

You're welcome! Thanks for the comment. My A6X2 wasn't supposed to be delivered until Tuesday but it came in yesterday afternoon. I may do an unboxing of it later today (after I record the followup NA3 video). Spoiler alert: it is great!

So true! And thank you for the kind comments. I did release a followup video about my thoughts on the NA3 after 48 hours. Short version: battery life is fantastic (in fact, as I write this comment, I opened the NA3 5 days ago and the battery is still at 60% [though my usage dropped off over the weekend]). I'll add bluetooth keyboard and Obsidian syncing to my list of possible things to cover in a followup Q&A video.

Battery should be better, let's see. The 3 c has boox advanced refresh technology which apparently makes scrolling on websites and video playback a lot smoother but also drains the battery a lot. The Note Air 3 does not have this technology. So besides the battery life it would be interesting to hear if you notice any difference in the refresh rate. Thanks for the videos, very informative

In my first few days with the devices, I haven't really done much web browsing and I honestly don't imagine ever (maybe rarely) watching videos on it. So perhaps I don't need that advanced refresh technology at all. I'll pay attention to the refresh rates in the apps I DO use and see if I can tell a difference.

Thanks for making this video. I am going back and forth between which to purchase OR to wait for a 300dpi version of this. I do not really want the BSR / GPU / battery drain. The color interests me a bit, but I would probably find the B&W less distracting. If Android apps like Word and Excel are usable in B&W, then I would be fine with B&W. I too have an Oasis, and I love how easy it is on the eyes, so the 227dpi does give me pause. Thanks again for the video, and I am looking forward to the update video.

PS: I would love to see the same no backlight comparison of these 2 with the Oasis thrown in as well. I love my Oasis. So I am curious which one is closest to Oasis.

@ToddStanfield you are welcome! I hadn't thought of doing an on-screen comparison with the Kindle Oasis. That is a good idea. I'm getting things organized to make my followup Note Air 3 video this morning and I'll take some time to compare it to the Oasis. Thanks for the suggestion!

I have the 3 C for a month now. Although would have opted for the non color 3 because of its price but it was not yet released back then during my purchase. But I kind of like my 3 C compared to the 3 because I use it more on highlighting document which is more convenient with colors. The brightness is a sacrifice and it's acceptable because of its color e-ink compared to the all black version. You would understand this if you know how e-ink works.

Thanks for the reply! I do agree that highlighting is more convenient with colors. Just yesterday I was doing some highlighting within my own notes and wished that the contrast was a little greater between the highlight and the highlighted content. As an aside, I do believe I have a good understanding of how e-ink works and understand why the black and white is brighter than the color. While it is definitely "understandable", whether or not it is "acceptable" is more of an objective consideration. I think I mention this in my 48 hour review of the NA3, but the fact that there is color at all is incredible but for my workflow and daily usage, I don't think the sacrifice is worth it for me. Again, thanks for the comment and I'd love to see what you think of my thoughts on the Supernote once I make that video.

My eyes have developed an extreme intolerance to tablet front light displays, becoming too painful to look at and which is why I moved to eink. My favourite devices are the non front light 6" Poke 2 and 13.3" Book Max 3. If need be, I use an external light source so your concluding demo with the front lights off is invaluable. Hands down I would go for the Note 3 b&w. I just hope that Boox will revamp their Max range to bring it in line with the NoteAir, the A4 13.3" screen is such a luxury to use.

In a word, luxurious! All that space to spread out our writing and an A4 sheet of text to read without page turning.

Great video! Is there big difference in 220 ppi or speed of browsing Internet from BSR ?

thanka for the heads up. From what I can see, there is not much point to a colour screen on a device like this. Looks like it comes from the 80's

you should definitely be able to get better recharge rate via a wall plug than one of the macbook ports

​@@geolessel For my use case it is perfect. I am only using the built in neoreader and imported my calibre library via usb-c to there microsd card I installed on it. (I love expandable storage). I just read/annotate books and take notes on it for meetings and class. I had some concerns regarding security and privacy of the device and thus, I have not connected it to the internet and did not put any google account information on it. I am just using it as a reader. This is fine for my needs as I take primary notes by hand and then re-type my refined notes in my Obsidian vault on a secured workstation. The battery is great, it feels good in the hand, and the screen is very nice. I used to read with a Samsung tablet and it was very uncomfortable at night. This feels much nicer and I feed "good" when I read. Also there isn't any notifications or clutter as I have wifi turned off. I just wanted a device to carry all my books/papers and to read/annotate them. This does that fantastically. I have the Pen2 Pro coming in today (I like how it has an eraser on the back) and ordered a $10 case off eBay that has a much more secure pen holder than the stock $50 case.

I don't have hard data for exact technical comparisons, but in practical usage terms the 3 is MUCH better than the 3c. I had to charge the 3c pretty quickly after I started using it. I've used the 3 WAAAAY longer and have yet to have to charge it!

Dont lie you see no screen differences, or put on eyeglasses please. You would clearly see that the color screen is greyish and less comfortable for reading.

3c looks too yellowish
