Congrats !! it is a huge milestone getting to this point in your build. Well done. A quick note with your breather going pre turbo and no catchcan, just be careful It will quickly oil up the compressor wheel. Cummins 12V's can legally vent to atmosphere, Thats how they came from factory. Looking forward to seeing your adventures out and about in this beast.

Thanks for the heads up. Yep it's dumping oil into the intake. Not a whole heap but I will look into a catch can. cheers!

Depends if the 12V is already too old to go in the Pat in the first place. Usual rule is that engine needs to be same age as the vehicle or newer. Emissions levels usually have to meet what ever is newer, engine and/or the chassis. Being that its a P-pump, it is too old for the Pat in certain states.

Hey mate, love the series and hope there is another ep soon! Do you have a rough idea on what this cost you?
@OutAboutOffroad
Жыл бұрын
The conversion about $25k, reco on the engine nearly $10k, performance bits were used instead of reco originally so another $10k, suspension and stuff for engineering probably $12k, auto trans build $12k... Mistakes and wrong stuff bought $2k 🤣

Watched all the videos of the build multiple times as I busy with the exact same build currently. What I would like to know is whether you installed a sump with the Airdog or just utilized the standard lines from tank?
@OutAboutOffroad
2 жыл бұрын
thanks for watching! I installed 1/2" hose to the tank but used the factory in-tank pickup tube. The hose was a little big for the tube but sealed on it just fine with a hose clamp. Later I may upgrade the pickup tube to a larger one, but only if I see fuel pressure drops under load. I'm not sure if there's a difference in pickup tube diameter between models but for what it's worth, my tank was from a TD42. The return from the engine bay uses the orignal return line, so for now as I don't have a subtank, I've connected the airdog return to the connection on the filler neck which is normally used to feed from the sub into the main tank.

Hey mate, looking into putting a 6bt into my 80. What was the process with Tex Star like? Probably go VE pump
@OutAboutOffroad
2 жыл бұрын
TexStar were great to deal with but just remember a running engine just means running not necessarily up to date on servicing. Mine still needed new injectors, turbo, all gaskets, water pump, tappet cover, lift pump... The internals were good which is the main thing but I had to adjust my expectations a little
@bentheguru49862 жыл бұрын
Don't feed the crank gasses back into the intake unless you gonna use some really good seperators like a pair of ProVent 200's (number reprisents HP of donk).

It feels excellent, although I did get a smaller TC as I thought I'd be keeping the motor stock. Will see how this goes, for now it feels great. Engine doesn't seem to be over revving at all Actually had a gearbox issue during the drive test video, it's sorted now, but that was maybe 1/2 throttle and 1st/2nd gear only. Hang tight for a real first drive video ;)
