Saludos to Mr. BooBoo & American Cholo. I'm BAMS (Bambam) & I enjoyed this interview especially since I can relate to Boos story. I was born & raised in Boyle Heights by 4th & St.Louis as a kid an as a teen on Grande Vista & Garnet. In the mid 80's ELA was nothing like today. Youngsters were being drafted into this war zone. In my area at that time was Lil Opal Locos (LOL) which soon became Opal St Locos (OSL). I got into an underdog neighborhood which was starting up again from the 70's. In 91 looked like the entire Hollenbeck P.D. caught me slipping & sleeping at my pad. Went in for a 187. A month later got slapped with another one. Now I was facing the special circumstance/death penalty. In 92 like Boo was saying the peace treaty came about and I didn't know wth that was but found out the hard way. Green light and I caught the blues. I wasn't about to roll it up and wanted answers til Spantos from Lomas explained to me the politics about this. Went to the hole, back out and at it again, in & out and again. Finally I made a call to Chuco which he told me to put someone running the dorm on the phone, nobody wanted to come so he just told me to relate the message that it's on Yellow. I was back in the mainline wanting to box every mofo that jumped me. I fought my case for 3 yrs in C.J.and been through so MANY riots in there but somehow I kept dodging OSJ. I had that look like I couldn't of been involved when I was literally on the Frontline all the time. My case got dropped to a double manslaughter and Sentenced to 18 yrs. Went to Lancaster picked up a SHU. Went to High Desert S.P. where it was rocking and a lot of lockdowns but during one of those lockdowns my points dropped so I went to a 3 yard. I was never into riding in cars and kicked it with whoever I connected with. I always showed respect to EVERYONE and had a sense of humor instead of being serious all the time. Well on the 3 yard the East Los car formed a softball team called the EvilSide. I got recruited in the team and actually got to share some stories with my enemies from the streets. Dopey from VNE we connected in there and looked out for one another with anything we needed. Even TOKER from ES13 (Brownside) was part of our car. My hoods been known to be put on PC not for being pieces of s..crap, but for a light that was never taken off from someone who put it on in the first place. And I personally know for a fact that it was placed on us cause we were putting in work on a hood with juice when we had no one in the mix. But I walked the mainline during my entire stretch but not a day went by that I didn't think someone was gonna instigate the Luz pedo. Anyway, its crazy that after all that of standing my ground and biting the bullet literally since one of the 187 raps wasn't mine but still kept quiet about it since all that comes with the territory, after all that no one ever gave me my respects since it was a whole different set of youngsters at the time but saw me as the enemy for riding with the SUR in the mainline. Anyone from a So.Cali hood is a Sureño and just cause we had the Luz don't make us no good. But I had a diffrent perspective on gangs when I paroled in '01 and also became a Gang Intervention specialist. Then joined the Aztecs Fire & Fuel crew. I met my babymomma and lived on Gerhart by A.N.G. next to BrownHuero from Browntown Looters. Then life took a twist on me that somehow I been living in every city out here in the SFV, SCV & Antelope Valley once my Bbmma passed away. But my son has always been with me. Since he's been born I was given another set of eyes. Yeah I share my stories with him and teach him the good & the bad so that hopaly he won't repeat my mistakes. It's a real blessing to see him play H.S. football for Canyon Country Cowboys which today is their last game of this short season. So I tip my cap to your Channel AmericanCholo. for catching my attention through your humbleness & BB for taking me back to a place where anyone who's still alive from that era gots bragging rights if they wanted to. I've done some songs & videos about my experiences but for my own self therapy reasons which I've posted here & there. Never was in it for followers or likes but just to leave a piece of my presence behind when my time comes. Still standing tall & refusing to fall for the love of my son regardless if I'm homeless. I tip my cap to you all once again.

I wanted my kids to grow up in a better neighborhood now my youngest is 21 doesn’t drink alcohol and off to the university. I was 5 years old when I first got drunk now I’m 54 years old and 10 years sober. My familia still reside in Compton, Ca. I go and visit my jefito when I can and once I’m there I see thy old homies I grew up in the hood they all understand cause we are all veteranos.

Theres also the IBEW, which is the electrical union. Its nationwide. I'm in Tucson,Az and am in the IBEW. It's the best decision I've ever made. I'm also a felon who got all my rights back including my rights to own and possess firearms. So to any homeboys in California that wanna get into the electrical trade, look up on how to get into the IBEW.

@@stv1249 just google "how to get my rights restored" in whatever state you're from. I could've gotten my rights back in 2003 but I waited longer cause I was still a knucklehead. It all depends on the charges you were convicted of. You cant owe any fines or restitution that pertains to any of your felony cases. You have to go to the courthouse you were convicted out of and it has to be the judge who sentenced you or his or her successor. Sex offenders and people with domestic violence charges cant get thier rights restored at least that's what I was told from the info I got. But yeah just google it homeboy. Good luck.

@@jesusisking77795 you have to find out where the IBEW is located and go down there. They'll tell you everything you need to know brother. If you have a High school diploma or GED you can get into the apprenticeship program and if not they'll still put you to work while you get your GED and get into the program. Google the local IBEW in your area and call then go down to the office. Start there bro. I wish you luck brother. Just dont give up. Keep that positive outlook even when it gets hard at times.

Jumped 2xs you hit the lotto. Its more like 2xs a day without even pumping it up. It turned a boy into a man real quick. It was a game for the OSJ. For some reason cell 13 or 26 was always open. The last cells on the tiers in most modules in the county. There were about 15 or 20 of us 18 year old kids from MARAVILLA that were back to back and grew to men instantly in September of 1993.

Long time Gil my boy... The platform is only gotten better with the content the guests this might have been the best story and storyteller for me personally since I've been listening to you which was when you started boo boo told a story that for me is a black man and not being raised with my dad around there was no divide I didn't feel I'm listening to the story from a Mexican man or a latin man or south side or Sureno or Mayan and Incan azteca it was none of that I'm listening to a story from a man, talking about his childhood and things that left the emotional scars on him to this day... if this man ever gets a platform either a book or a miniseries or a movie and I mean a well-produced money put into it movie not know oh let's give them the Mexican budget let's give them the black budget now this movie needs to be put behind it just as like anybody else's story in Hollywood that gets fame... I sat here and listened to the story as if I was him and that's rare and that's how I decide whether I like rappers or not there's a lot of rappers I don't like because when they rap I can't feel them no matter how hard I try it it just doesn't feel authentic to me... and then the rappers I really like their story is very authentic I feel like I'm right there with them ...That's how boo boo story was... when I was playing football in JC in 94 the Lopez family from East LA took me in cuz I was having problems at home with my mom she put me out and I lived over there and their grandfather was a big-time vet had me over at the house ...there's some young dudes walking around and they stare and look and you know try to make me uncomfortable and he came out and said something to them in Spanish and looked at me said mijo do whatever you want to do you know go get some food go play on the block do whatever you want to do and my buddy told me later my grandfather said if you fucking look at him or make him feel uncomfortable you won't be around if you see him around here and he's by himself you bring him over here I lost touch with that family and until this day I've never forgotten them and I got love and respect for the Lopez family which I'm sure there's a lot of them I know the son played football at Garfield and his Dad too...Anthony Lopez was his name he would have graduated like 93 maybe.... some of most beautiful people i have ever met
