MrCowboys2288 same shit is happening in San Diego. All the gang members or retired ones are moving to Tijuana becuase rent is much cheaper which in retrospect leaves the turf inactive or the varrio "dead". You also have to consider that alot of Gs are moving to cheaper locations and those cheaper locations happen to be in enemy territory so they automatically have to stop banging or keep a low profile especially if you have no car. Higher rent prices are making all thr real ones move out the hood and just visit the hood every now and then until that every now and then turns into a couple times a year. Thats how varrios end up dead with nobody to put on the pewees anymore.

thats good. gangs are stupid anyways. nothing good came from gangs. you either die young and never do anything with your life, or you live a longer life, as a bum asking for change and trying to tell stories about how they refused to change for a street that will never be theirs. true story.

The tag: El Geronimo Mateo 5-17-62 I did some research.Mateo was a thriving Mexican immigrant community that existed in the south east corner of downtown up until 1962-63. Unfortunately, Mateo and it's gang had to make way for the 10 fwy.

Before Clanton was 14th St gang which ran from Clanton to Mateo's neighborhood and the Neighborhood Settlement's neighborhood aswell. The Chief of Police in the 1940's stated he was from a gang in Boyle Heights and fought against the 14th Street gang and Dogtown gang amongst others in 1910. Clanton put under their wing many groups /gangs in Lafayette Jr. High(used to be 14th St Elementary ) in the 1930's . As that vato was standing in the original barrio he pointed to a placaso from pre '45 with the name Ralph ~C~ (the C had the pachuco cross) but if you notice there was no 14th St next to it right? That's because it was implemented after the City changed it (Clanton Street )14th Place . After 1945 you start seeing C14. We've traced Clanton back to 1922 can't find no one older than 88 years old many have passed away. The Original Gang were we get our name from goes back to the 1880's to Tombstone Arizona their family bought land were Clanton Street was and was named after them. Dogtown name was giving to that area back in the 1890's by the people working the railway and it was noted that a gang from Dogtown raided Schuetzen Park were Hebrews (Jewish people) were attending in 1904. White Fence started as they claim 1939 ,in the 1920's Mexicans worked there it wasn't until the late 1920's until Raza moved in the area. Hoyo Mara wasn't the Oldest from the Maravilla's. These are my oldest list : Sonora town Alpine St. La Macy St. Dogtown Chavez Ravine (3 barrios ) Clanton Temple Belvedere All 6 Camps Hayes ,Hicks ,Flores ,Wiggins, etc. La Mission There are several defunct barrios I'm not going to mention cause it'll be here forever lol but look at it like this many of the oldest barrios surrounded the Plazita a core center for Raza.

  • @AlexAlonso101

jose h Wasn't dealing with defunct neighborhoods like Macy & Alpine. If HMV is not oldest in East LA / Maravillas, which neighborhood is? What's you oldest list for active current street gangs in LA? Alpine, Macy, Belvedere (?), Sonora been gone.

The gentrification is so disturbing to look at. It’s upsetting to see the housing vanish the way that it did. What’s more upsetting is the fact that they pushed everyone that lived there, out.

Bro, this is the dopest up and close video ive seen from you so far.Even with out any actual gang members present in any of the neighborhoods.Excellent tour guide of each area.Couldnt of asked for a better visual other than physically being there.Wish we couldve seen some footage of the housing project they tore down and what the atmosphere of that extinct neighborhood was like on any given day.

I see reckless comments on here about the History of Hispanic Gangs. ..but who you running to when it comes to purchasing a brick? Or who you fear the most when you behind enemy lines? When it comes to this Gang Culture, every Color plays a huge part. Don't every forget that. That's the problem nowadays, cats wanna run around calming sets or repping a Flag but clueless to its origins. Pay Homage if you REALLY about that life. Peace Infinite

One thing I find amazing is our Chicano culture created a slang only Chicano’s under stand . It goes back over a hundred years . The newer generation are changing to sound just like the black slang . We shouldn’t being using the N word we say “ESE” that’s ours take pride in that .

Coming from Texas I can see a lot of similarities in the gangs from both here and Cali. A lot of people from LA move to here in Dallas and vice versa. I'm not affiliated but grew up in a "not so nice" area to know. Respect to the Mexicans holding it down over there in Cali though! I love visiting over there.
